The raunchy Christmas comedy has become a staple of the holiday season for those who can’t get behind the tinsel-strewn schmaltz of the seasonal spirits. It’s a way to rebel against the magic of a season increasingly given over to crass commercialism and reminders of why most people don’t hang out with their families all the time. With each year’s newest Christmas shocker, the cynics padding through the overlit city streets doing their best to avoid the carols blaring from every available speaker have a tiny oasis of sanity amidst the good cheer.
This year, it’s “The Night Before”, starring Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, and Joseph Gorden-Levitt as a trio of friends with their own Christmas tradition. The previews have been promising a cinematic display of comedy debauchery since before Thanksgiving. Surprisingly, there has been less push towards the feel good fare that seems to...

Seth Rogen and Co. Indulge in Christmas Spirit, Jewish Jokes, and Too Many Drugs in The Night Before
Seth Rogen has turned tales of stoner man-children struggling to bid overdue farewells to their youths into a cottage industry – one that’s sometimes poignant, often hilarious, and occasionally annoying. The Night Before does little to mess with the basic formula, though it probably indulges its earnest side a bit more than the typical Rogen fare. It’s the story of three best buds – unemployable sad sack musician Ethan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), football star and Red Bull spokesman Chris Roberts, aka “C-Rob” (Anthony Mackie), and expectant father Isaac (Rogen) — who decide to bring their annual Christmas Eve ritual of carousing and getting shitfaced to an end with one final bender. That’s an odd set-up, when you think about it. Usually, as people get older, they tend to hang onto these rituals as a way of reliving, at least briefly, their past selves. Or they re-enact them after many years in the adult wilderness.

Orphan Black, Season 3, Episode 8, “Ruthless in Purpose, and Insidious in Method”
Written by Graeme Manson and Chris Roberts
Directed by Aaron Morton
Airs Saturdays at 9pm (Et) on BBC America
The events of the past few weeks, particularly Paul blowing up the Castor laboratory and Cosima relapsing, brought the focus of the Clone Club back to Project Leda and Dyad. There was an added ray of hope with Scott’s discovery that Rachel is familiar with the symbols in Duncan’s copy of The Island of Dr. Moreau. This week’s episode sees Sarah try to execute a risky maneuver to try and gain Rachel’s cooperation, while details of another clone are revealed, in a strong episode that introduces some new character dynamics.
It’s interesting to hear Sarah invoke Beth in her desire to get ahead of Castor and Leda. Sarah’s not wrong in her...

Who doesn’t love an epic, overdramatic, ‘80s sports battle? I think every other film that came out of that era fit that bill. “Locals Only, Bro. No Kooks!” transports you back to the 1980s when the clothes were bright and baggy, the babes were bodacious, the boards were flat and wide, and street skating was still in its infancy.
The Back Forty Bros hit the beach for a battle of epic proportions. Rivals crews duke it out on boards while the affections of some bodacious babes hang in the balance!
The short film stars current street skating legends Marc Johnson, Kenny Anderson, Danny Montoya, Chris Roberts, and more. It’s funny seeing these amazingly talented skateboarders holding back so much to perform tricks that are either completely obsolete or overly simplistic by today’s standards.

While most women stress out over turning 40, Kate Moss took it all in stride as she had lunch with her husband Jamie Hince in London, England today (January 16).
The legendary supermodel headed over to 34 Restaurant where she met up with Topshop owner Philip Green, fashion designer Stella McCartney, and BBC Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw for a celebratory bite to eat.
Meanwhile, Chris Roberts, the author of the forthcoming biography “Kate Moss” told press that in his research for the project he discovered that Kate has been mostly loved by others during her long and successful career.
"You won't find anyone with a bad word to say about her who knows her because a) they are friends, and b) there is this kind of fierce loyalty around her, there is a protective circle. There's a very kind of defensive, loyal circle to whom she is loyal to in return as...

Over the past several months I’ve watched with amazement as the Kickstarter darling console, the Ouya, blazed a trail held together with twine, banding wire, and dubious PR. This isn’t a surprise in itself as Kickstarter has been known to be the spawning chamber of dubious products (in addition to quality ones), but what’s perplexing is how the mainstream gaming media has swallowed everything the Ouya team and the face of the project, Julie Uhrman, has been spoon-feeding them since July of 2012. In its Kickstarter campaign alone, the Ouya, based on nothing more than carefully airbrushed mock-up art and lofty dreams, managed to raise over $8.5 million from over 60,000 backers, shattering all prior records for Kickstarter funding including Chris Roberts’ ambitious Star Citizen.

Will Smith is no stranger to playing heroes. With the exception of “Ali” however, they’ve all been fictional do-gooders who save the world from CGI hordes. Well Smith is heading back into the real world with his latest project, as Variety reports that Smith is set to tell the story of a Hurricane Katrina hero.
Sony, with Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment, have obtained the rights to the life story of John Keller, an ex-Marine who was nicknamed “The Can Man” by New Orleans press. Keller resided in the American Can Company apartments; when the hurricane hit and flooded the building beneath 11 feet of water, he stood guard against looters and troublemakers. Keller also hot-wired cars and boats in order to get to the grocery store so he could provide neighbors with food.
“I could have got in that boat and paddled my ass out of here,” Keller told The...

A person can change after moving to New York and this is what the main character of Four Lane Highway regretfully finds out.
