The Monday, April 22 live episode of “American Idol” Season 22 proved to be the end of the road for two fan-fave singers: Jayna Elise and Roman Collins. They were the only artists in the Top 12 that failed to earn enough votes from viewers to make it into next week’s all-important Top 10. Host Ryan Seacrest delivered the unfortunate news in front of judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. The guest mentor for “Billboard #1 Hits” night was Meghan Trainor.
Throughout the competition, Jayna sang tunes like “The Climb” (Auditions round), “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” (Showstopper round), “Confident” (Top 24 round), “My All”, “All I Wanted”, “I Have Nothing” (Top 14 round) and “Diamonds” (Top 12 round). The 22-year-old performer from Washington, D.C. actually began her journey last year on “Idol,” but was eliminated prior to the Season 21 live shows. The good news is that she made it much further this time around.

Could an upset be brewing on Season 21 of “American Idol”? All year fans have been forecasting Iam Tongi would take home the top prize, but he may not be the sure bet we’ve assumed. This season closely resembles a similar lineup up finalists from Season 17 when 18-year old country crooner Laine Hardy took down fan favorite Alejandro Aranda, who, like Iam, had become a viral sensation since his first audition.
This time around it’s 18-year old Mississippi native Colin Stough who has progressively grown his fanbase each week, delivering honky-tonk renditions of some of music’s most popular tunes. Like Laine, he was barely a blip on viewers’ radar in early rounds, but as judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie have pointed out, his star continues to rise.

[Warning: The below contains spoilers for American Idol.] Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie were in the driver’s seat for the Judge’s Song Contest round on American Idol. This trio of hitmakers suggested tunes each of the Top 10 should sing in order to secure the nationwide vote. The talented hopefuls chose between three tunes before taking the stage to perform. All in hopes of hearing host Ryan Seacrest call their names into the Top 7 lineup. There was also a friendly game among the judges over whose songs were selected the most. Bragging rights went to Katy with four chosen picks. In a twist, she was able to save a contestant as a result to make it a Top 8. In between the competition, Monday’s live show also saw the return of 2021 Idol winner Chayce Beckham, who debuted his new single “Till The Day I Die.” Luke presented Chayce with a plaque to mark...

The wait is almost over: In just over 24 hours, either HunterGirl, Leah Marlene or Noah Thompson will become your next American Idol.
But before the season’s three remaining contestants face off in Sunday’s finale (ABC, 8/7c), we have to ask: Which finalist do you predict will win, and which finalist do you believe should win? As we’ve learned over the course of 20 seasons, the answers to those questions are rarely the same.

Luke Combs has plotted out a busy touring schedule in 2022, making up for the lost time with various festival appearances at Stagecoach and New Orleans Jazzfest before he embarks on a summer stadium tour.
When that trek is over, the “Tomorrow Me” singer will regroup and head out on the Middle of Somewhere Tour in September, playing a series of back-to-back arena shows that’ll take him nearly to the end of the year.
The tour gets underway Sept. 2 in Bangor, Maine, and features Combs playing two consecutive nights in nearly every city he visits.

This installment of the ABC reality TV competition saw judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie kicking off Hollywood Week. Singers chose which genre they wanted to categorize themselves as before stepping to the mic in the Genre Challenge. Those who survived made it to the Duets round on Sunday, April 3.
So who was the best of the night? And did they step up their game since their initial audition? Below I rank each hopeful from the least impressive (but with room to grow) to a possible Season 20 frontrunner. The American Idol hopefuls packed their bags and headed to “Hollywood Week.” It’s there they were greeted by familiar faces from the show’s 20-year history who served as mentors. Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Lauren Alaina, Ruben Studdard, Chayce Beckham, Lee DeWyze, and Haley Reinhart met with contestants who prepared to hit the stage for the “Genre Challenge.” Each Idol hopeful was tasked to identify who they are as an artist, choosing from the indie-folk, pop, rock, R&b, soul, and country group. Then these talented singers choose a song to perform head-to-head. And those platinum ticket holders Jay, HunterGirl, and Kenedi Anderson got to scout their competition from the comfort of the balcony seats high above. Although that wasn’t the only purpose (more on that below). Who impressed Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Richie enough to make it to the “Duets Challenge” round? Let’s unpack.

Hollywood Week has arrived on “American Idol,” which marks its 20th year on air this season. For that reason, several familiar faces are returning to the show tonight as mentors during Hollywood Week.
Among the “Idol” alums reporting for duty on tonight’s episode, which was filmed in December, are: Season 7 winner David Cook, Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina, Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard, Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze, Season 10 second runner-up Haley Reinhart and Season 19 champ Chayce Beckham.
“I always enjoy those opportunities,” says Cook, who mentored in the past on the show’s pre-abc days and is always willing to assist up and coming artists. “It’s such a unique experience to go through. And maybe I can help some of these kids navigate it a little easier.”
While in the past the show featured appearances by Carrie Underwood and Adam Lambert, this move marks the first time since “Idol” rebooted...
