Another recent story from Inside the Magic is headlined in a way that seemingly indicates that a Frozen Land has been announced for Walt Disney World. But is it true?
No. Currently, no announcement has been made for Walt Disney World. This doesn’t mean that they won’t someday, but as of now, it isn’t true.
What we do know is that Disney has announced plans to spend $60 billion across all its theme parks over ten years. We also know that Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, has teased a big project to be built “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.” Blue-sky images have also been shown of a retheme for the Dinoland U.S.A. area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom into a “Tropical Americas” area based on IP.

Some years ago, Josh Gad received an out of the blue email from Frank Miller, someone whom he had never met.
The legendary comic creator behind The Dark Knight Returns and Sin City asked Gad, the stage and screen actor who is also the voice of Olaf in Disney’s Frozen movies, if he would be interested in writing a comic book. Miller believed Gad would be good at it.
“I was petrified,” Gad tells The Hollywood Reporter. “I didn’t think I was capable of it. Conceptually, I didn’t have a way into it and make personal and create something worthy of people’s time.” He politely replied to Miller and declined his invitation.
In the intervening years, however, Gad found his voice, so to speak. Though Miller is not involved, the actor now has co-written a comic that will be published by indie powerhouse Dark Horse Comics starting June.

Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed today that the studio is working on Frozen 4, another sequel in the hugely successful animated franchise.
If you’re wondering about Frozen 3, don’t worry, you didn’t miss its release. The movie was only announced earlier this year, and we don’t know a hell of a lot about it. “‘Frozen 3’ is in the works, and there might be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works too,” Bob Iger said on Good Morning America. “But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. [Director] Jenn Lee, who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.” Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the songwriters behind the tunes, will be returning for both Frozen sequels. “Well, I’ve been quiet here for a while,” Anderson-Lopez wrote on X. “But yeah,...

A full decade after the Walt Disney Co.’s musical animation Frozen became a worldwide box-office phenomenon — and the enduring soundtrack to the lives of parents with little kids everywhere — the very first theme park attraction dedicated to the film is set to open its doors Monday at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
The belated leveraging of the internationally beloved IP is expected to drive further gains for Disney’s lucrative, newly renamed Experiences group, including its theme parks, cruise lines and consumer products businesses, which reported a 31 percent surge in operating income last quarter.
The launch also underscores the role the Asia-Pacific region will play in Disney’s recently unveiled plans of “turbocharging growth in our parks and experiences business,” as CEO Bob Iger put it on the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call earlier this month. In September, Disney said it will spend $60 billion over the next 10 years to...

Like an avalanche, "Frozen" didn't immediately take the world by storm in 2013. In fact, it was only a few weeks into its run that it even became clear Disney had a massive hit on its hands. By the end of the year, though, everyone and their dog knew the words to "Let It Go" and the film itself had become the highest-grossing animated movie ever. By the time "Frozen II" arrived six years later, the House of Mouse had already spun off the first film into a series of shorts -- including a half-hour special themed around Josh Gad's Olaf the snowman that Disney (ahem) unwisely elected to screen in theaters with Pixar's "Coco" -- and a Broadway musical, among many other things.

Do you want to build a franchise? Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that in addition to “Frozen 3,” a fourth “Frozen” film is in the process of creatively defrosting.
During a “Good Morning America” segment, Iger announced from Hong Kong Disneyland that “Frozen 4” “might” happen soon.
“Well, I’ll give you a little surprise there Michael,” Iger said to host Michael Strahan. “‘Frozen 3’ is in the works and there might be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works, too. But, I don’t have much to say about those films right now. But Jenn Lee, who created ‘Frozen,’ the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.”

Disney has been commemorating their 100th anniversary all year long. From theme park celebrations to a massive 100-film box set, the studio has gone all-out for the special occasion. But their most recent short film, the live action/animation hybrid Once Upon a Studio — now available for streaming on Disney+ — might be the most touching of all. And while it’s filled with hundreds of cameos, one that stands out is Genie from Aladdin, voiced by none other than Robin Williams — not just in the 1992 classic but in Once Upon a Studio as well.
It has been more than nine years since Robin Williams’ devastating death but those behind Once Upon a Studio knew that not only was the presence of Genie crucial, but so was getting the voice. After all, Williams made him one of the most beloved characters in the studio’s history. Thankfully, Williams wasn’t resurrected...

A few years back, Trent Correy and Dan Abraham looked to explore what happened to Olaf between the events of "Frozen" and "Frozen II" with their short film, "Once Upon a Snowman." Now, they're looking to show off what happens around the Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California after all of the animators have gone home for the night with "Once Upon a Studio." The short was developed as part of the centennial celebration of Walt Disney Animation, looking to honor 100 years of beloved characters, stories, and evolving animation techniques. It's practically impossible to succinctly encapsulate the impact, importance, and magic of Disney animation's first 100 years, but if there's anything that comes close, it's "Once Upon a Studio."
Featuring over 40 memorable voiceover artists, and characters from more than 85 Disney feature-length and short films, "Once Upon a Studio" is like a moving yearbook of Disney's past and present. Academy Award-winning...

It’s Day 1 of the SAG-AFTRA strike and Day 74 of the WGA strike.
The stars are out in force on the first day of the actors strike and, as Parks and Recreation co-creator Mike Schur said, “Now a thousand very attractive people have shown up and joined the lines, it’s an enormous amount of wind in our sails”.
Schur, a member of the WGA negotiating committee who also starred as Mose Schrute on The Office, was joined by a slew of big-name actors including Allison Janney, Timothy Olyphant, Josh Gad, Ben Schwartz, Sean Astin, Charlie Barnett, Joey King, Chloe Fineman, Susan Sarandon, Ginnifer Goodwin, Patton Oswalt, Marg Helgenberger, Jake McDorman, Constance Zimmer, Michelle Hurd and Jason Sudeikis across picket lines in LA and New York.
Skye P. Marshall, who is a lead on CBS’ upcoming reboot of Matlock alongside Kathy Bates, told Deadline that the actors’ craft needs to be respected.

Women have broken into many acting, producing, and directorial ventures in the recent past — think Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine and those at her company — the animated film sector continues to have a pretty thick glass ceiling. That’s especially true at Disney and its adjacent companies, where only three women have directed feature-length animated movies.
That said, a few women have begun cracking the ceiling and forging paths. As they go, they’re creating storylines and beloved characters that put more women at the forefront. The proof speaks for itself: Women-directed animated projects at Disney have generated some of the biggest box office numbers.

Abby's Upstate stories are an updated version of Rose Nylund's St. Olaf tales on Golden Girls. Or Sophia's Sicilian parables. If a show's going to borrow sitcom elements, the Og Gg is one of the best to lean into. (It doesn't hurt that it's also an NBC IP.)
Like Rose and Sophia, Abby's more canny than she lets on, and when she decides to rewrite the rules of engagement, old-school sharks like DeWitt show their toothless tactics are relics of a sad and shameful time.
That's not to say young sharks aren't eager to circle the waters.
Up until the final scenes, Olivia's rabid for a taste of the upper echelon of legal hobnobbing.

This year is turning out to be the year of the Vikings. Sure, Robert Eggers' "The Northman" and all its naked fight splendor came out in 2022, but this is the year when "Vinland Saga" finally returns to follow up its complex tale of revenge with a quieter and meditative second season set at a farm, and Netflix also gave us the second season of "Vikings: Valhalla," and all its sexy historical drama and bloody battles.
"Vikings: Valhalla" is, of course, the follow-up to the "Vikings" show that first aired on the History channel a decade ago and became very successful — despite the creator worrying "Vikings" wouldn't make it past season 1. It tells the story of the end of the Viking era, focusing on a variety of characters from different countries and walks of life, as they face the Nordic invasion of England and the rise of Christianity in the Viking world.

Now that Vinland Saga has sailed on to its second arc and Thorfinn faces an uncertain future, the villain of the first arc may seem obvious—but wait before naming Askeladd.
Was the ash-smudged boy who rose to be a Viking warlord really a big bad or more of a twisted Cinderella who never got that happy ending? He was already traumatized enough in his youth when he learned something that was rightfully his, the throne of England, had been snatched from him by unfortunate circumstances. Trauma and injustice cannot excuse Askeladd’s atrocities. They can, however, give insight into what created the monster.
Askeladd pulsates with vengeance for a reason. Like the fabled Cinderella, he grew up in the ash of a smithy with a name that literally means ash lad. His father, Olaf was a stereotypical Viking who kidnapped and raped his mother,...

The co-director of Disney’s Frozen has confessed that she wanted to cut the much-loved character of Olaf the snowman during the production process.
Jennifer Lee, who is also the chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation, joined the team of the 2013 film while it was already in development.
After viewing an early cut, Lee was seemingly less than thrilled with Olaf and wanted him to be taken out of the story.
“My first note was, ‘kill the snowman’,” she noted.
However, a staff animator then created a three-page script with actor Josh Gad, who plays the voice of Olaf, in mind. Luckily, Lee was apparently impressed with Gad, and Olaf’s character was saved, according to a Variety report.
Lee accepted the distinguished storyteller award from the Los Angeles Press Club on Sunday (4 December) at the 15th annual Arts and Entertainment Journalism awards, presented to her by Gad himself.

Millions of families might not ever have built that snowman, if an executive’s early creative note on the Disney blockbuster “Frozen” had been followed.

The G7 summit has produced plenty of headlines, including those member countries’ commitment to support Ukraine, new sanctions against Russia and climate change discussions.
