Though details about the film are still cloaked in a black, interplanetary goo, there’s word from the Sony camp that Juno Temple will star opposite Tom Hardy in the third installment of the slightly deranged McU-adjacent “Spider-Man”-related trilogy. Michelle Williams was the romantic lead, Anne Weying, in the first two, which concluded with Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom and going their separate ways. It is unclear who the 33-year-old London-born Temple will be playing in the new installment, but Deadline reported her involvement.
Also, the new chapter in the “Venom” story will be Kelly Marcel’s feature directing debut. Marcel co-wrote the first “Venom” with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker for director Ruben Fleischer in 2018, and the slightly unhinged superhero pic went on to gross over $850 million worldwide. As the 10th and final episode of The Offer arrives to Paramount+ this week, several of its creators reunited for a THR Presents conversation powered by Vision Media to discuss the limited series, about the genesis of The Godfather. Bouncing from Hollywood backlots to the New York criminal underworld to Sicily, the show makes clear how unlikely it was that one of the greatest films ever made was made at all. Joining the panel were cast members Miles Teller (who plays producer Albert S. Ruddy), Juno Temple (as Ruddy’s secretary Bettye McCartt), Matthew Goode (as legendary Paramount studio chief Robert Evans), Dan Fogler (as The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola) and executive producer Nikki Toscano.

After a lengthy journey that involved pacifying mercurial businessmen and mob bosses, navigating tricky politics and permits, and working hard to get Francis Ford Coppola (Dan Fogler) all the talent he needed past the studio, Al Ruddy (Miles Teller) and the team finally completed and released “The Godfather” in the season finale of “The Offer.”

The final episode of the Paramount+ limited series offered some closure all around as the film premiered to critical acclaim, went on to win several of the big Oscars, including Best Picture, and set up the journey for the sequel. When Miles Teller was brought on to lead “The Offer,” he knew it was a big responsibility – and not just because the Paramount+ limited series focuses on the backstage machinations that led to the creation of “The Godfather.” As real-life Oscar-winning producer Al Ruddy, Teller appears in almost every scene of the sprawling 10-episode series, which shot over nearly seven months during the coronavirus pandemic.
Teller “worked really hard,” his co-star Juno Temple previously told Gold Derby. The show, she said, is ultimately about how Ruddy fought for “things to be how you know they need to be” and how that “really does pay off.”
“Miles is somebody that believes that through and through,” she said.

“It’s one of the icons of contemporary American cinema and I felt a tremendous responsibility,” declares Oscar-nominated production designer Laurence Bennett (“The Artist) about the challenges of designing “The Offer.” “The first time they called about seeing if I was interested in designing the project, I told my agent no, I was not interested because it just felt like there was great risk involved with messing with the classics,” he admits, adding for our recent Q&a, “I just found so much humanity in all the individual stories and everyone had so much investment in the project; it was incredible.” We talked with Bennett as part of Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&a event with 2022 Emmy Awards contenders. Juno Temple has been on a roll for the past year. Last June, she was cast as Bettye McCart, an assistant to producer Al Ruddy, on the Paramount+ limited series “The Offer,” about the making of “The Godfather.” In July, Temple received her first Emmy Award nomination for playing Keely on the hit series “Ted Lasso.” Later that same month, Temple won further raves for her performance on Season 2 of the Apple TV+ comedy, which has her back in the Emmy conversation once again.
“I’m just stoked that it has opened doors for certain people that hadn’t been opened before – me included,” Temple tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview. “I’m not sure ‘The Offer’ would have come into my world [without ‘Ted Lasso’]. That was something that I remember getting the phone call being offered ‘The Offer,’ and I was like, ‘What do you mean? Oh my God.

Exclusive: The Corleone family finally has come together for a real Italian dinner. In this clip from the May 12 episode of The Offer on Paramount+, Francis Ford Coppola (Dan Fogler) greets the cast of The Godfather for their first gathering before shooting commences on the film.
Much to Coppola’s delight, the actors immediately settle into their roles. Marlon Brando (Justin Chambers) sits at the head of the table and insists that his wife be served first. He then gives a speech thanking the group for attending his birthday meal.
The Offer is based on producer Albert S. Ruddy’s experience making the 1972 film that Coppola directed and adapted with Mario Puzo from Puzo’s bestselling novel. Besides Chambers and Fogler, The Offer stars Miles Teller as Al Ruddy, Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn, Colin Hanks...

Early in Paramount Plus’ new limited series “The Offer,” movie mogul Robert Evans is delivering a soliloquy about the moment he discovered his destiny. “It was magic,” he declares. “Real magic. I knew right then and there this was my calling. That darkened movie theater became my church.”
As played by Matthew Goode, Evans is a real fake — a glottal-voiced fellow who convinces himself, first, of the pabulum he pitches others. And his declaration of movie madness, the first but hardly the last such speech he’ll give over the run of “The Offer,” sits oddly against the show’s ambitions. This program insists that movies are important, and does so by pulping perhaps the most celebrated film of the second half of the twentieth century and using it as fuel for a diverting but hardly cinematic streaming series.
Streaming-age Paramount Plus is looking back to New Hollywood Paramount Original Formula.

Four minutes isn't a lot of time when you're talking with an impressive lineup of talent.
The Offer has such a lineup, and we had the chance to talk with some of the cast and executive producers leading into the show's premiere on Paramount+.
Miles Teller, Matthew Goode, Giovanni Ribisi, Juno Temple, Burn Gorman, Patrick Gallo, creator and executive producer Nikki Toscano, and executive producer Russell Rothberg gathered for the virtual press day.
Executive producer and lead, Miles Teller was joined by Juno Temple.
Teller plays Al Ruddy, producer of The Godfather, and Temple plays his assistant, Bettye McCartt.
Teller talked about what he gleaned from fellow executive producer and the man whose life is at the center of The Offer, Al Ruddy, and whether it was as challenging to get The Offer off the ground as the Godfather (nope!).

What makes the art of storytelling so crucial to society? What turns movies and TV shows into experiences? Experiences worth devoting hours upon hours, days upon days, years upon years of our precious lives to appreciating? Robert Evans in “The Offer,” played with vigorous charisma by Matthew Goode, has the answer. Speaking to a board of investors, the Paramount Pictures vice president pleads for a stay of execution, despite his company’s struggles, by emphasizing the difference between what he does and what these “titans of industry” do for work.
“You have to feed their souls,” he says, walking around the boardroom in his big, black, block glasses and tan, crisp, California suit. “How do you do that? Well, that’s hard. Right now, the soul of America is broken. […] People don’t trust politics or big business, so what can Americans look up to? Well, I’ll tell you: Paramount.

Paramount+ is about to make you an offer you can’t refuse. The streaming service announced back in 2020 that, along with their rebranding from CBS All Access to Paramount, that they would be bringing audiences a limited series about the making of “The Godfather” titled “The Offer.” The move was met with some raised eyebrows as it seemed like a push for the burgeoning streamer to mine from its extensive, existing intellectual property.
In an ironic twist, similar to production of the film it is discussing, “The Offer” has had a rough road to completion. In 2021, “Top Gun: Maverick” star Miles Teller was brought in to replace Armie Hammer as Albert Ruddy. After that, the series had to pause production after one of the cast tested positive for Covid-19. But, thankfully, the show did go on and now audiences are just a week away from seeing what is on tap with “The Offer.

Classic movie lovers have been lucky of late, as some new, terrific interviews with Francis Ford Coppola, Al Pacino, and James Caan have hit various outlets, as well as reflections on the 50th anniversary of “The Godfather.” The winner of three Academy Awards was also just re-released in 4K for home viewing.

Paramount+ is trying to make an “Offer” no one can refuse.
The 10-episode limited series, “The Offer,” about the true story behind making the “The Godfather,” arrives just in time for the half-century anniversary of Francis Ford Coppola’s Academy Award-winning epic. The show debuts April 28.
Dan Fogler plays then-studio-newcomer director Coppola (hot off indie “The Rain People”), who is tasked with bringing Mario Puzo’s novel to life for Paramount Pictures. The studio wanted “someone who understands Italians” to direct the feature, and while Coppola’s Italian roots made him a prime choice to helm the feature, it was clear that traditional gangster movies were “dead” by the early 1970s. A big-budget gamble was a high risk for Paramount at the time.
But it was up to Coppola and his Italian-American vision to save the picture. From including scenes that focus on family and heritage instead of mafia members,...

It’s the 1970s in Los Angeles and some shady studio guys are trying to get a movie made. But some dangerous criminals are rather put off by the concept and would like it not to happen. Will they manage to work things out? That’s question posed by the trailer for the upcoming Paramount+ miniseries “The Offer,” which you can watch now.
Of course, by now you know the movie in question was “The Godfather” and that this show is based on things that actually happened, so of course they managed to work it out. The how of that is the focus of the 10-episode event, however. Expect to see a lot of 1970s Los Angeles sleaze, 1970s New York grime, and plenty of that Hollywood magic, baby. Also, since Robert Evans is a character, probably lots of cocaine.

Justin Simien is officially taking on a 1980s classic.
The “Dear White People” creator is set to adapt and direct a modern retelling of 1983 Paramount Pictures film “Flashdance,” which originally starred Jennifer Beals as a steel mill worker with ballerina dreams.
“Bad Hair” director Simien signed an overall deal with Paramount Television Studios in August 2021 after adapting his own Lionsgate film “Dear White People” for Netflix. The TV series concluded last September after four seasons.
The Paramount+ series was announced on February 1, following the project’s first stab at development at CBS All Access in October 2020 with Tracy McMillan writing and Angela Robinson directing, as Deadline reported. The former CBS project was slated to center on a young Black dancer who worked at a strip club while “struggling to find her place in the world while navigating romance, money, art, friendship, and how to love herself” on the road to becoming a ballet star.
