Elysian has released the trailer for ‘Treasure’ which is based on the book ‘Too Many Men by Lily Brett’.
A father-daughter road trip set in 1990s Poland, the film follows Ruth (Lena Dunham), an American music journalist, and her father, Edek (Stephen Fry), a charmingly stubborn Holocaust survivor, on a journey to his homeland. While Ruth is eager to make sense of her family’s past, Edek embarks on the trip with his own agenda. This emotional, funny culture clash of two New Yorkers exploring post-socialist Poland is a powerful example of how reconnecting with family and the past can be an unexpected treasure.
The film is the third in Julia von Heinz’s ‘Aftermath Trilogy’ exploring the legacy of Germany’s Nazi past following 2013’s ‘Hanna’s Journey’ and And ‘Tomorrow the Entire World,’ Germany’s 2020 Oscar submission.
Also in trailers – Trailer drops for Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga...

Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree is finally heading to the movies, with Simon Farnaby writing the script. More here.
For many years, there’s been talking of bringing Enid Blyton’s much-loved children’s tale The Magic Faraway Tree to the big screen. The book’s character names changed over time – there’s no Fanny anymore – but it’s still continued to find a new audience.
Once upon a time, the idea of a film of The Magic Faraway Tree was something being set up at Studiocanal. However, when personnel left Studiocanal to set up Elysian, the film went with them. Simon Farnaby has long been attached to write the script, and he’s remained a constant as the project bumbles along in limbo.
But it sounds as if it’s just found fresh life.
Still with Elysian, funding has now been chipped in too via Neal Street Productions.

Elysian Film Group and Neal Street Productions are behind the project which is scripted by BAFTA winner Simon Farnaby, riding high off the success of box office hit Wonka, which he co-wrote with Paul King.
Ben Gregor (Britannia) is newly aboard to direct the feature, based on the book series by beloved British author Blyton, also known for creating hit kids properties such as Noddy and Famous Five.
Casting is in process on the film, which will be repped for worldwide sales at next month’s EFM by Tamara Birkemoe’s US and UK-based Palisades Park Pictures. CAA Media Finance is co-repping domestic.

Danny Perkins made waves in the British film industry back in 2018 when he left his long-time position as CEO of StudioCanal UK — a tenure that had seen him oversee major and beloved hits including Paddington 1 & 2, Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy and Shaun the Sheep Movie — to set up his own film and TV production company.
Elysian Film Group, which he launched with producer Kate Solomon (United 93), in early 2020 unveiled its distribution arm, backed by minority investment from CAA (the giant’s first investment in a U.K. distributor). The timing wasn’t great, however, coming less than a month before the first pandemic lockdown.
It was, understandably, a slow start on both the production and distribution front. But 2023 has seen the company — a nimble operation of just four staffers, including Perkins (who brings partners on board for big releases) — make some major noise. First up, it’s biggest in-house film to date,...

On Sept. 16, 1993, NBC unveiled its Cheers spinoff show Frasier, starring Kelsey Grammer. The series ran 11 seasons before being picked up for a revival on Paramount+ three decades later. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
Cheers for NBC’s Frasier, the new primetime comedy that has plucked Dr. Frasier Crane from the bygone Cheers and set him up in business on his own weekly series.
Emmy winner Kelsey Grammer vigorously returns as the head shrink doc, bringing to the role the understated acerbic bite that made his character a standout on his former weekly program. However, rather than keep Frasier in Bean-town, the new series places him in his hometown of Seattle. And here he finds himself in the position of working as talk-show host dispensing advice to callers.
All would seem paradise, or at least a touch of Elysian, for the relocated Frasier, who has left a failed...
