Be there when it happens! So declared the final trailer for The Marvels, a 90-second spot that contains almost as many images of past MCU glories as it does shots from the actual movie it claims to promote. The trailer only slightly tips its hand toward the one thing that could be deemed universe-altering, a mid-credit sequence in which Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) awakens in another universe, tended to by a variant of her mother Maria, now in the Binary persona, and Dr. Henry McCoy aka Beast (Kelsey Grammer) of the X-Men.
The X-Men have been a long time coming to the MCU—ever since Disney bought 20th Century Fox, which among other things brought the X-Men characters back under the Marvel umbrella after the film rights had been licensed to Fox in the 1990s. And yet, every onscreen hint and...

This post contains spoilers for The Marvels.
Let’s be honest, it’s tough times for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After mixed bag misfire Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania led into the utterly dismal waste of time that was Secret Invasion, the MCU no longer demands the attention it enjoyed before Avengers: Endgame. Not even the excellent Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or the really good second season of Loki seems to restore confidence.
All of which puts a lot of pressure on The Marvels, the last MCU movie released this year. The Marvels may be a sequel to the box office-breaking Captain Marvel, as well as great MCU Disney+ shows WandaVision and Ms. Marvel, but it’s tracking for a remarkably low opening, and one can sense the desperation in the final trailer for The Marvels. The emphasis in the marketing on extended universe stuff does a disservice...

Here it is, after a needless and mysterious six month delay, Uncanny X-Men #600 has finally been released. There are two prevailing theories as to why Marvel chose to push back the release date from May, the time that all their series were wrapping up, to November, when Marvel was in the midst of creating their new status quo. Marvel either wanted to use this anniversary issue as a springboard to their new status quo but feared that the six month gap between the original release date and the debut of their all-new #1’s may cause readers to lose interest.

James McAvoy was the most recent cast member to appear in one of Singer's set photos.
Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, Boo Boo Stewart, Peter Dinklage, Daniel Cudmore, Adan Canto and Fan Bingbing will also feature in the 20th Century Fox film.

Like many big-budget comic book movies, Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class prequel had a lot of never-used promotional material finding themselves online lately. And the latest promo material, via Tumblr, features actor Nicholas Hoult, in the mutant form of his role, 'Henry McCoy,' better known as the 'Beast.' Check out the six cool images below. X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war...

X-men: First Class Blu-Ray20th Century Fox Home Entertainment2011/Rated PG-13/ Running Time 132 minsList Price: $34.99 - Available September 9, 2011Just a few years ago, the X-Men movie franchise was in serious trouble when the third feature in the series was poorly received by fans. That film seemed to bring the story of Professor X, Magneto and the mysterious Wolverine to a happy close, yet despite being a huge hit at the box-office, audiences appeared to be let down. Fingers were pointed at writers, a last minute replacement director and even a studio who already had a bad track record when it came to adapting Marvel comics stories for the silver screen. Two years ago, the most popular X-man of them all, Wolverine, was awarded a feature of his very own which explored his origin. It too was a heavily criticized box-office hit. Was this the end of X-Men stories on the silver screen?...

How does X-Men: First Class differ in its key story points from the X-Men comics? And which gets it right? James takes a look...
Of all of Marvel's adaptations, the X-Men movies have strayed the furthest from the comics. It's understandable why, given the X-Men's long and convoluted history, and it's not necessarily a bad thing.
But changes are changes. We wouldn't be living up to the name Den Of Geek if we didn't at least try to analyse them, and, more importantly, try to decide which is better, the comics or the movie.
Warning: Spoilers for X-Men: First Class are in the following comparisons. If you haven't seen the film, this will reveal certain developments to you...
Item 1: Xavier's Paralysis
Movie: During a climatic moment, Magneto deflects a bullet fired at him by Moira MacTaggart, which ricochets into Professor Xavier and severs his spinal column. Paralysed from the waist down,...

Today will be an epic day for any Marvel Comics fan, especially those who adore the X-Men (like me). In an MTV exclusive, daring video profiles for three mutants from the upcoming movie, X-Men: First Class, were unleashed.
Are you ready to get to know Banshee, Havok, and the new Beast, up close and personal? I know I am! Will Chuck be able to help these kids control their super powers? Don’t miss the new film trailer, or the very comic book-ish new poster.
This version is of Banshee is a little young, no? Comic book readers will remember Professor Xavier (MacAvoy) and Moira (Rose Byrne) have had their romantic entanglements, but Moira has also been linked as Banshee’s girl. Ruh-roh.
Actor: Caleb Landry Jones
Character’s Proper Name: Sean Cassidy
Ability: Sonic Scream

There are some detailed descriptions in this month's First Class issue of Empire including dialog etc. So a Spoiler Warning is obvious. The first scene they witnessed was the birth of Cerebro as Charles Xavier puts on the dome shaped helmet for the first time. It seems that in this movie's continuity, the machine was built by Henry McCoy!.. McAvoy, Fassbender, Hoult and Jennifer Lawrence enter the lab. Hoult(Hank McCoy) briefly explains what Cerebro is. "It's Spanish for brain". ..(McAvoy lowers the device onto his head).."Are you sure we cant shave your head Charles?" asks Fassbender. "Don't touch my hair" replies the egghead in waiting(that's one for the fanboys) Next, the scene glimpsed in the trailers with Fassbender ramming a knife onto an unfortunate man's hand while sitting at a table. Empire have more details as to what is transpiring here.. ..It features Erik, on a mission...

Nicholas Hoult, who starred in Clash of the Titans and About a Boy , has signed on for Jonathan Levine's adaptation of Isaac Marion's zombie romance novel "Warm Bodies", say our reps at Summit Entertainment. The story centers on an existentially tormented zombie who begins an unlikely friendship with the girlfriend of one of his victims and starts a chain reaction that will transform him and his fellow zombies. Hoult is also attached to two major upcoming films, X-Men: First Class in the role of Henry McCoy (Aka, Beast) and Jack himself in Jack the Giant Killer . Levin, who directed The Wackness and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane , will also adapt the screenplay. Production on the film is slated to begin this summer.

This actor is probably best known from titles like Clash of the Titans, Kick-Ass and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and today we’re here to add his name to quite interesting (and previously reported) Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class cast list.
So, one big welcome for Jason Flemyng who will portray Nightcrawler’s father Azazel, a character that he already described as “a teleporter.”
Here’s a little detailed description of this character:
“Azazel claims that many years ago an ancient horde of demonic mutants from biblical times called the Neyaphem were in an epic battle with a group of angelic over-zealous mutants, named the Cheyarafim. They were victorious in the battle and vanquished the “evil” mutants to an alternate dimension for all eternity.
The Neyaphem’s leader, Azazel, was the only one who was able to breach the dimensional void for brief periods of time due to his teleportation powers.

Beside Professor X and Magneto who will become the center of the story, "X-Men: First Class" will see other characters from X-Men universe. Words are, Multiple Man is among those who will appear in the coming movie. Comic Book Movie claims a Marvel Studios source tells them that this mutant will be one of Professor X's definite students.
At least three young actors have been reported being seriously approached to fill the role, but the names are not mentioned. The same source previously informed the site that Benjamin Walker will be possibly cast as another mutant student, Henry McCoy aka Beast. However, this rumor has not been confirmed by either 20th Century Fox or the actor.

Alice Eve is becoming a name over here in the states as she exploded onto the screen in the comedy, She’s Out of My League. It makes sense her next movie would be a comic book film seems like the logical transition these days for hottie commodities, do a rom com first, comic book or fan film second, sky is the limit for awhile and then when your marketing cycle ends, time to take your clothes off for a movie or too.

Alice Eve, the British actress is in negotiations to portray Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn – directed X-Men: First Class.
There was a rumor, earlier this month, that Rosamund Pike was in talks for this icy superhero role but later it was revealed that Pike was actually in talks to play Moira McTaggert, the assistant to Professor X, who will be played by James McAvoy.
If Eve takes the role, she would join a cast that also includes Michael Fassbender as a young Magneto and Benjamin Walker as a young Henry McCoy, a.k.a. The Beast.
She first appeared on the scene in Starter for 10 alongside James McAvoy, so if she signs on, X-Men: First Class will reunite her with McAvoy, who has already been cast as Charles Xavier who ultimately became the recognized leader of the mutant group X-Men as Professor X!
Here’s the X-men: First Class official synopsis: “The movie,...

If there’s one movie I’ve seen this year that has started with a great premise but has suffered from a failed execution, it would have to be The Only Good Indian. Written by Thomas L. Carmody and directed by Kevin Willmott (Csa: The Confederate States of America), this fictional pseudo-western tells the tale of a teen-aged Native American boy with the given white man name of Charlie (played by Winter Fox Frank).
Taking place in Kansas during the early 1900’s, the movie follows Charlie’s story, one of many Native American youths that were forcibly removed from their homes and placed into re-education schools that feel more like prison camps. Students are scolded, or even beaten into submission, and punished for speaking their native tongues. These scenes of the school master and the teacher forcing their ways onto these young Native Americans with the idea they are benefiting them are difficult to watch,...

Apparently, Marvel and DC sent a memo to each other declaring this week would be filled with origins and character building stories as evidenced by the three books appearing on today’s edition of The Pull List. Not to say that’s a bad thing by any means, character building is what helps us care most about this who we normally see just in the heat of battle.
Also thankfully for our wallets, this was a “light” week in terms of shipping. After the three weeks of 20 or more pulls, it was nice to have a week to be able to sit down, relax and get to enjoy the work in these issues.
Pull of the Week:
Green Lantern #43 – DC – $2.99
Score: 8.0
