- Robert Souza was an L.A.P.D. detective for 25 years, until he recently retired and is now a Hollywood screenwriter/producer. Making his debut with Hollywood Homicide (2003), starring Harrison Fordand Josh Hartnett.
- He pitched the story idea behind Hollywood Homicide (2003) to director Ron Shelton on the set of Dark Blue (2002), on which Souza was a consultant. The two then pitched the project to Columbia Pictures and signed a deal to co-write the script together.
