Sammy Fourlas, a popular star on TikTok where he posts funny videos, spoke about his role in The Big Door Prize, an Apple TV+ show about the natives of a small city named Deerfield who come upon a mysterious machine that forecasts their fate in their local supermarket, at SXSW in his new uInterview.
When looking back on the shoot, Fourlas said, “I have so many [memories]. I really like this one night where we were doing night shoots, [co-star] Djouliet Amara, and I and it was so cold outside, it was freezing and at first we were kind of like almost pissed, tired, and pissed and cold and then as it went on, that kind of feeling kicked in of like experience the moment, enjoy the moment and yeah, I always reflect on that one man because it plays the whole life potential thing and just really relishing everything you have.

The Big Door Prize‘s sweet, small-town characters continue to charm (and change) as they embrace the destinies they may be intended for. And we’ll see more of that in the April 19 episode, “Beau.” Having been redirected, and in some cases thrown completely off course, by tiny envelopes dispensed by a mysterious vending machine named Morpho, the residents of Deerfield are all about looking at their lives with a new Pov and making upgrades if needed. It’s adorable, unusual, and we are loving it. But it’s not all quirk and comedy. So far, the Apple TV+ series has spent each episode focusing on a specific local — this week, it’s Aaron Roman Weiner’s Zamboni driver Beau — and there’s always some sort of pain beneath the surface. In this case, it’s how Beau’s grief over the loss of his son Kolton has blinded him...

There’s an interpretation of the beloved comedy Schitt’s Creek wherein the town of Schitt’s Creek is actually Purgatory — a metaphysical proving ground in which the Rose family faces a series of banal and repetitive tasks meant to test their respective souls and determine whether or not they’re worthy of salvation.
It’s not a perfect interpretation: There’s maybe a little more coming and going from Schitt’s Creek than behooves the theory; plus when you open a theological door to ponder whether, in this scenario, Chris Elliott’s Roland is God or something, nobody is likely to be satisfied. But for approximately 90 percent of the show, you can absolutely accept Schitt’s Creek as limbo. If you choose to.
The truth, though, is that some shows are designed to be treated as allegory and other shows are designed to resist allegorical readings — to be ongoing, slice-of-life shows, treated literally if not seriously.

What if you could find out your life potential by feeding a few quarters to an arcade machine that magically appeared in your local convenience store? That's the premise of "The Big Door Prize," the series based on M.O. Walsh's book of the same name that comes from "Schitt's Creek" writer David West Read.
During the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Read, along with show stars Chris O'Dowd, Gabrielle Dennis, Josh Segarra, Sammy Fourlas, and Djouliet Amara, took to the stage to talk about the upcoming Apple TV+ series, which also dropped its first teaser trailer. And while the show is billed first as a comedy (and it is funny), it's also a character-driven series that will likely twist your heartstrings more than you were expecting.
"It's a comedy that has elements of drama and magic, and there's a slight eeriness to it around the edges," Read explained.

What would you do if you could find out your life's true potential? That's the question plaguing the residents of a small town when a mysterious machine appears in the local general store, with the ability to reveal each person's true destiny. Based on the M.O. Walsh novel of the same name, "The Big Door Prize" sees the small town shaken up by the life-changing predictions of the strange 'Morpho Machine,' which scans their fingerprints and DNA before spitting out a tiny card that encapsulates their life purpose.
I'm not gonna lie — this sounds like a unilaterally terrible idea. First off, the concept of true potential is frighteningly vague all on its own. Is it a goal that each person can achieve but won't necessarily? Don't we already put enough pressure on ourselves without the universe weighing in? Also, the idea of everyone in the town being able to...
