Square-Enix has just released the first trailer Final Fantasy Xiii-2. Although the gaming publisher cites that this sequel will be an entirely new and upgraded experience from the original, the trailer doesn’t reveal much as to the actual gameplay. Once again we see the stunning cinematics that we love, but what we want to see, or rather experience, is how “open” this new gaming environment will be.
Personally, I really dug the battle system. I did not, however, like the leveling system. It was more for show than to actually choose your character path. Also, unlike previous Final Fantasy Games or Square’s Star Ocean franchise – and let’s face it, we have to compare it to Mass Effect 2 – the game restricted any sense of choice and was abysmally linear.
