For those of you genre fans out there always on the lookout for interesting horror and sci-fi films to enjoy from the comfort of your own home, March’s VOD selections feature several great indie movies that should make for some entertaining viewings this month.
Ava’s Possessions, a film I really dug out of last year’s SXSW Film Festival, is finally making its way onto VOD this Friday and Emelie, the babysitter thriller from Dark Sky Films, is also getting a digital release that day. Other titles arriving on VOD in early March include The Wave, Road Games and Camino.
The month’s VOD titles are being capped off by a film that I’ve been excited to see for some time, Baskin, which is being released by IFC Midnight on March 25th. Other notable VOD titles for March include Dudes & Dragons, You’re Killing Me, A Haunting...

Now that everyone can exhale, and Leonardo DiCaprio has finally taken home his Oscar, The Revenant Blu-Ray announcement is out, and the film will be heading home on April 19th, with an early release on Digital formats March 22nd.
For now, the release seems special feature sparse, with the only addition mentioned being a “documentary” about life during the film’s setting. You have to imagine there will be more when the film hits shelves.
Whether controversy surrounds DiCaprio’s win, the film’s loss for Best Picture, or the Academy’s attempt to rush Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s acceptance speech, the film is still a magnificent effort, and one well worth owning.
Check out all the info on the release below.

Hot on the heels of a few Oscar wins last night, 20th Century Fox has announced the details and release date for The Revenant's upcoming blu-ray. Come inside to check it all out!
In the time leading up to this year's Oscars, and the film's release, much has been made about the difficult production behind the making of The Revenant. As such, it seems odd that the blu-ray for the movie, coming on April 19th, is incredibly sparse. It comes with only One special feature that delves into the historical aspect behind the events that take place.
Again, it seems like an odd choice, but I guess they want to keep the primary focus on the film itself. Check out all the details below:

“Let me tell you the story of Right Hand, Left Hand. It’s a tale of good and evil. Hate: it was with this hand that Cane iced his brother. Love: these five fingers, they go straight to the soul of man. The right hand: the hand of love. The story of life is this: static. One hand is always fighting the other hand, and the left hand is kicking much ass. I mean, it looks like the right hand, Love, is finished. But hold on, stop the presses, the right hand is coming back. Yeah, he got the left hand on the ropes, now, that’s right. Ooh, it’s a devastating right and Hate is hurt, he’s down. Left-Hand Hate KOed by Love!”

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible Very Bad, No Good Day follows a rough 24 hours in the life of 11-year-old Alexander Cooper.
Adapted for the big screen from Judith Viorst's 1972 children's picture book, Alexander begins with the titular character waking up with gum in his hair – which ends up being the least of his troubles as the day unfolds. What’s worse, Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) feels like his family is failing to show him due empathy, making him conclude that he’s the only one with bad luck in the bunch.
In Miguel Arteta’s movie, the following day explores a bad day for Alexander’s mom and dad (Jennifer Garner and Steve Carell) and his siblings Anthony (Dylan Minnette), Emily (Kerris Dorsey) and Trevor. Throughout his family’s “terrible, horrible, very bad, no good day,” Alexander tries to help everyone deal with the steady stream of misfortune.

The Classic French Film Festival celebrates St. Louis’ Gallic heritage and France’s cinematic legacy. The featured films span the decades from the 1920s through the 1980s (with a particular focus on filmmakers from the New Wave), offering a comprehensive overview of French cinema. Monsieur Hire will screen as part of the festival at 12pm Saturday, June 21st at the St. Louis Art Museum.
In a provincial French apartment block, Monsieur Hire (Michel Blanc) endures a solitary life of dull work as a tailor and vitriolic scorn from his neighbors. Hire’s only solace is an occasional night out bowling and his voyeuristic admiration of a neighbor, the ravishing Alice (Sandrine Bonnaire of “Vagabond”), a beautiful, free-spirited woman conducting a heated love affair through un-drawn curtains across the way. But when police discover the nude body of another young woman in a nearby vacant lot, Hire becomes the prime suspect...

The Secret Circle Episode 107 "Masked" Written By: Michelle Lovretta Directed By: Charles Beeson Original Airdate: 27 October 2011 In This Episode... With grandma off on a brief trip to visit Henry, Cassie plans a "small Halloween get-together," which, in high school speak, is a major rager. While setting up for the party, Cassie discovers a piece of the blade that Simone attacked her with. She takes it down to Calvin Wilson, the local antiquities dealer, to be identified. Jake got to Calvin first and scared him into silence, so when Cassie gets there, he says he has no idea what the crescent symbol means. She snaps a photo of similar blade that Calvin has...

The adults were away on The Secret Circle this week, so the kids played... with fake bats, with sexy Halloween costumes and most definitely with fire.
But only one person actually got burned on "Masked" and he totally deserved it. Rip, Luke. Actually, don't. You traitor!
This was a great episode overall, perfectly utilizing the theme of generation versus generation. It's my favorite aspect of The Secret Circle, allowing for both mystery and character development. Consider the role parents played in their children's lives this week, along with the overall impact these relationships have on the series...
Lousy Luke. In the eyes of viewers, he went from being an ideal dance partner to a vengeful witch hunter, but can we truly blame the guy? He's only his father's son, after all, and he was raised to hate on witches. I was raised to cheer on the Yankees. Some might say...
