Set in the very near future where scientists have discovered a method of matching people with their perfect romantic fit using DNA, eight-part Netflix Original The One is technically a sci-fi drama. Really though, it’s a crime thriller revolving around the murky circumstances in which the cash cow company behind the matching service was created. Written by Misfits and Crazyhead creator Howard Overman, The One is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by John Marrs. It’s a cat-and-mouse game between wealthy, driven CEO Rebecca (Hannah Ware) and police detective Kate (Zoë Tapper).
While you’re solving the show’s mysteries, we’ve taken the liberty of solving that nagging background question of where you might have seen its cast on screen before…

Netflix has debuted a new trailer for the relationship drama ‘The One’.
Based on a book by John Marrs, the eight-episode series is set ‘five minutes in the future’, in a world where a DNA test can find your perfect partner – the one person you’re genetically predisposed to fall passionately in love with. No matter how good your relationship, which one of us can honestly say we haven’t thought about whether there is someone better out there? What if a hair sample is all it takes to find them? The idea is simple, but the implications are explosive. We will never think of love and relationships in the same way again.
Created by Howard Overman (Misfits), the series stars Hannah Ware, Dimitri Leonidas, Amir El-Masry, Stephen Campbell Moore, Wilf Scolding, Diarmaid Murtagh, Lois Chimimba, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Pallavi Sharda, Zoë Tapper and Gregg Chillin.
Also in trailers – Liam Neeson...

Review Ron Hogan 14 Apr 2014 - 07:01
Leonardo has a mutiny on his hands in the latest episode of Da Vinci's Demons. Here's Ron's review...
This review contains spoilers.
2.4 The Ends Of The Earth
When you're going to divide your cast into small groups and separate them by means either artificial or storyline-driven, you have to have something for them to do and you have to have someone else for them to play off of. On shows like Game Of Thrones, they can get away with sticking Arya away from the main action, or leaving Daenerys in Essos, because they have other strong characters to play off. Arya has The Hound; Dany has Ser Barristan, Jorah Mormont, and a trio of dragons. Given that Da Vinci's main cast is splintering into four little subgroups: Leo, Amerigo, and Zoroaster; Nico and Riario; Sixtus, Lupo, Good Sixtus, Lucrezia and her Asian bodyguard; and Piero Da Vinci and Lorenzo.

Last September, Den Of Geek had a day out in South Wales to visit the impressive Da Vinci’s Demons set. Here’s what we learned…
Driving through Port Talbot’s rolling green countryside on a sunny September morning, the first hint of anything out of the ordinary was the sight of two fully garbed, bewigged Ottoman Janissaries leading their horses into a car park.
As we alighted the minibus, more fifteenth century Turks came into view, one reading the paper on a sunny verge, another texting in the shade of a double decker coach, a hatless, wigless queue forming at the catering van…
Led down a leafy sylvan path, the soil underfoot gradually turning into sand, we emerged blinking into the light of a steep golden dune. Dotted around the hillside were military banners, decorative earthenware pots, iron braziers, straw-stuffed training dummies, and a draped Ottoman tent,...

Leonardo Da Vinci (Tom Riley) is coming face to face with a whole new kind of demon with the introduction of Vlad Dracula (Paul Rhys) in Friday's (May 17) episode of "Da Vinci's Demons."
The synopsis of the episode is as follows:
A clue from the Turk about the Book of Leaves sends Leonardo to Wallachia, where he encounters Vlad Dracula. Lorenzo and Piero meet the Duke of Urbino. The search for the true spy continues.
New clips from the episode encompass very different sides of the Vlad Dracula character, one showing the original vampire as a gracious but creepy host, while the other finds him trying to kill poor Leonardo and Zoroaster (Gregg Chillin). He's Dracula though, so that has to be expected.
"Da Vinci's Demons" airs Fridays at 9 p.m. Et/Pt on Starz. Three episodes remain in season one. ...

In one of the most fitting transitions of the TV season, Starz's series premiere of "Da Vinci's Demons" immediately follows the series finale of the network's signature hit "Spartacus." Both shows mix generous doses of sex and violence with historical details that could best be described as ... creative.
Not that historical accuracy is the point of this brand of Starz series. They're really all about the bare skin, buckets of blood, and enough soapy twists and turns to keep viewers hooked. Some detractors may write them off as guilty pleasures, but why feel guilty if watching a show is actually pleasurable?
While the first two episodes of "Da Vinci" are overly convoluted -- good luck keeping track of who's who, what their allegiances are, and sometimes even what they look like in the more dimly lit "atmospheric" scenes -- the action moves at such a rapid pace and unfolds with...

Born in the middle of the 15th century, during the Renaissance, artist and visionary Leonardo da Vinci was one of the most brilliant and restless minds of a glittering and restive age.
One would think that sticking 100 percent of the time to the facts of the life of a man described by contemporary Giorgio Vasari as having a "beauty of body never sufficiently extolled," an "infinite grace" and "great bodily strength," with a "spirit and courage ever royal and magnanimous" would be enough for a dramatic cable series.
And that's not even mentioning the major works of art he's known best for: the enigmatic portrait "Mona Lisa," the reverent and yet dynamic "The Last Supper," and one of the most famous pen-and-ink drawings of all time, depicting the beauty of proper proportions, called 'Vitruvian Man."

Which way does Tom Riley's Leonardo DaVinci swing in DaVinci's Demons.
Anyone who is concerned that the new Starz series, DaVinci's Demons, is going to 'straight-wash' not only the content but Leonardo DaVinci's homosexuality can rest easier knowing that the show will go there...the next question being, of course, how far.
If the opening episode is any indication, though, we'll see more than a few daliances between men and, also in the pilot, we see DaVinci (played by the striking Tom Riley) refer to a young man (who his friends call 'a hustler') in a way that opens the door for the idea that the artist does not walk an exclusively straight line.
With the DaVinci's Demons cast and Executive Producer David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight films and the upcoming Man Of Steel) present at this past weekend's Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, it was the...

Check out a quickie 30-second promo for “Blade” and “Batman” writer David Goyer’s latest venture, the original TV series “Da Vinci’s Demons”, which will star Tom Riley as the do-it-all genius Leonardo Da Vinci. The show will chronicle Da Vinci during his ’20s as a “artist, inventor, swordsman, lover, dreamer and idealist” who bucks the system and “invents” the future, whatever that means. The promo doesn’t offer up any footage, so it’s anybody’s guess what we’re getting here in terms of visuals, tone, and what have you. In a world where thought and faith are controlled, Leonardo Da Vinci fights to set knowledge free. The tortured genius defies authority and hurls himself into the future, forever changing the fate of mankind. “Da Vinci’s Demons” also stars Andrew Brooke, Gregg Chillin, Elliot Cowan, Laura Haddock, and Elliot Levey. Da Vinci does what Da Vinci...

Gregg Chillin was glad to work with Trevor Eve on 'Kidnap and Ransom' because he once ignored him on set. The 23-year-old actor had worked alongside the star previously on an episode of 'Waking the Dead', but Gregg admitted he was pleased to be able to get to know Trevor better on the ITV1 hostage drama. Gregg exclusively told Bang Showbiz: "Working with Trevor was great. I'd done a guest part on in one episode of 'Waking The Dead' a couple of years ago, but I never really got to meet him. In fact, he just walked straight past me. "This time,...
