The Top 13 artists on “The Voice” took the stage during the November 15 performance episode and America spent all night voting for their favorites. On Tuesday night, host Carson Daly will announce the two contestants who received the lowest number of votes and will leave the competition. (That means 11 will go through to the next round.) Based on the elimination predictions of Gold Derby readers, the two singers most in danger are Lana Scott of Team Blake Shelton and Joshua Vacanti of Team John Legend.

Lana is a 28-year-old country artist from Chesapeake, Virginia. She auditioned with “Hole in the Bottle” and earned two chair turns from Blake and Kelly Clarkson, easily deciding to join Team Blake. She lost her battle of “Girl” to Hailey Green, but then Blake pushed his one and only “save” button to keep her in the competition.

With Monday’s episode, Season 21 of The Voice went live, teeing up make-or-break performances by the Top 20 — though I expected a Top 21, to be honest. After last week’s reveal that viewers could vote for a coach-picked contestant to return to the competition — either Team Ariana Grande’s Vaughn Mugol, Team Blake Shelton’s Hailey Green, Team Kelly Clarkson’s Aaron Hines or Team John Legend’s Samara Brown — I thought extra space would be made for a comeback kid. Not yet, apparently. (Tuesday, during the Wild Card Instant Save.) Keep reading, though, and we’ll discuss all of Monday’s performances.

Blake Shelton has a lot of explaining to do to his fans.
During the first week of “The Voice” knockouts for Season 21, the country coach eliminated Hailey Green following her rocking performance of “God’s Country,” aka Blake’s own song (watch above). Blake decided to keep Libianca in the competition instead after her powerhouse cover of “Everything I Wanted.” Now a whopping 37% of “The Voice” viewers say Hailey was “robbed” of a spot in the live shows, which begin in two weeks on the NBC reality TV show.

“The Voice” entered the next stage of the competition, the battles, during Monday’s all-new episode. Per tradition, each coach brought along a superstar advisor to help mentor their aspiring artists. They were: Jason Aldean for Team Kelly Clarkson, Camila Cabello for Team John Legend, Kristin Chenoweth for Team Ariana Grande and Dierks Bentley for Team Blake Shelton. In this round, the coaches choose the pairings and the songs, and they also name the winner of each battle. The losing artist can then be “stolen” by a rival coach or “saved” by their own coach. So how did the first set of battles play out?

In the fifth blind audition episode of “The Voice” Season 21, the rivalry between “grandpa” Blake Shelton and “granddaughter” Ariana Grande heated up even more. Heading into the fourth blind audition episode of “The Voice” Season 21, John Legend and Ariana Grande led with seven artists each on their teams. To compare, Blake Shelton (aka Ariana’s “grandpa”) had six artists and Kelly Clarkson only had five artists. There also weren’t any blocks left in play, as Ariana used hers the previous night to stop John from acquiring Holly Forbes on his team. That episode ended with a cliffhanger, with Holly about to choose her coach.

But did any of them sound like they had what it takes to follow Cam Anthony into the winner’s circle? Read on, and we’ll evaluate.
