Judge Dredd Mega-City Two #1
Writer: Douglas Wolk
Artist: Ulisses Farinas
Colorist: Ryan Hill
Publisher: Idw
Judge Dredd Mega-City Two #1 follows Judge Dredd’s temporary transfer to Mega-City One where he is investigating a larger conspiracy under the guise of a normal Judge exchange program. This conspiracy is barely touched on, and the comic has a noticeable lack of an antagonist or an overarching plot. However, Mega-City Two #1 does succeed as a “day in the life” story for Dredd as writer Douglas Wolk and artist Ulisses Farinas use dialogue and setting to show how out of place Dredd is in Mega-City Two. Along with being an interesting character study for Dredd himself, Mega-City Two #1 acts as an over-the-top parody of American celebrity culture and media. Farinas sticks in little references to modern pop culture in his backgrounds and uses inset panels to show the constant media presence around Dredd in his pursuit of justice.

PayPal has launched a campaign for a website that makes it easier to find gifts for colleagues as Kris Kringle season approaches.
The site, called Instakringle, is targeted at various office types, from the ‘gentlemanly bikie socialite’ to the ‘elegant corporate extrovert’.
It’s being promoted via a series of online videos, press, radio ads, digital office and café screens in Cbd locations across Australia, as well as online banners for desktop, tablet and mobile.
The launch comes off the back of research commissioned by PayPal found that 44% of Aussies don’t like their Kris Kringle present and one in five re-gift them.
The campaign was by Dynamix and We Are Social.
Ryan Hill, Dynamix Ecd said: “The team had a ball developing this campaign. Looking at the office stereotypes and matching them to brilliant gifts, like a remote control flying shark has been a lot of fun. Hopefully we...

Calgary’s $100 Film Festival is a celebration of film. Not “film” as a concept, but of actual celluloid. This year, their 19th, is three nights of strictly 8mm and 16mm films — No Video! — screening at the historic Plaza Theatre on March 3-5.
Each night starts off with a real bang: A unique live film and music performance by local musicians and filmmakers. Thursday features the combination of blues musician Erin Ross and a film by Farrah Alladin and Nathan Taylor; Friday is experimental indie band Axis of Conversation and a film by Alex Mitchell; and Friday is musician Kris Ip Ryzak and a film by Ben Tsui.
Also on Friday, mixed in with the regular lineup of films, is a mini-retrospective of Montreal-based experimental filmmaker Alexandre Larose, featuring four of his films — Artifices, 930, Ville Marie and Brouillard. Then, after all films have screened for the night, Larose will host a...

The Sundance Institute announced the award winners for the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Like Crazy ended up winning the Dramatic Grand Jury Prize, and Circumstance won the dramatic audience award. I thought Like Crazy was a good film, but it definitely was not one of my favorites or one of the best movie there. I didn't end up getting to see Circumstance.
