On March 27th of last year, we heard that filming was underway on a serial killer action thriller called Damaged, which had Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) and Vincent Cassel (Black Swan) in the lead roles and director Terry McDonough, whose previous credits include episodes of the TV shows Killing Eve, Better Call Saul, and Breaking Bad, at the helm. Now, just eight days shy of the one year anniversary of that news, a trailer for Damaged has arrived online, along with some release date information: the film will be receiving a theatrical, digital, and on demand release on April 12th. Screen Media has acquired North American rights to “Code Name Banshee,” an upcoming action-thriller with Antonio Banderas and Jamie King. The film will receive a day-and-date theatrical and on-demand release in July.
Directed by Jon Keeyes and written by Matthew Rogers, the duo behind “The Survivalist,” the film follows Caleb (Banderas), a former government assassin in hiding, who resurfaces when his protégé, the equally deadly killer known as Banshee (King), discovers a bounty has been placed on Caleb’s head. Jaime King, Antonio Banderas and Tommy Flanagan have joined the cast of “Banshee,” an action film from director Jon Keeyes.
The film follows a freelance assassin, codenamed Banshee (King), who is ambushed by Anthony Greene (Flanagan), a powerful mercenary who killed her father, and who is now seeking to collect a bounty on Caleb (Banderas), her former black ops mentor. Caleb went underground five years prior, triggering a race against time as Banshee must find and protect Caleb before Greene and his army of hired killers can find him and take him down.
“’Banshee’ is a complex story of revenge and family, and having this incredibly talented cast to bring these characters to life is a dream,” Keeyes said.
