New Delhi, Feb 21 (Ians) Acclaimed lyricist, screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar’s comments in Pakistan on 26/11 terrorists “roaming free” in the country and the bitterness in the hearts of Indians have drawn huge applause in India.

A red light? ? A podium? Two uniformed U.S. Marines? Looks like the summoning of Satan if you ask the GOP.
President Joe Biden delivered one of his presidency’s strongest condemnations of Donald Trump and the Maga movement in a prime-time speech on the steps of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The stage was lit in alternating bands of blue and red, but a close up shot of Biden framed him entirely within the red portion of the lighting. The image evoked the unholy for many Republicans — despite red being the party’s official color.

Rachel Maddow will stay at MSNBC, according to two people familiar with the matter, after negotiating a new pact that will keep her at the cable-news outlet beyond 2022.
Maddow, who is the linchpin of the network’s primetime lineup, had been considering her own independent content ventures, and had enlisted top executives at Endeavor to make her case to MSNBC and senior managers at NBCUniversal. MSNBC declined to make executives available to comment on the renewal.
Under terms of the new pact, described as “multi year,” Maddow will develop other projects in a new partnership with NBCUniversal. She has already established a track record for doing so. She has found success in other ventures, such as “Bag Man,” a seven-episode podcast series centered on the story of former U.S. Vice President Spiro Agnew. MSNBC in 2018 featured her documentary special, “Betrayal,” which focused on the darker side of the 1968 election...

The golden-throated singing sensation Reshma, who regaled Asians with her folk singing, could have lived if only her country and government had looked after her medical needs. Hitting out angrily at the Pakistani government, Adnan Sami of Pakistani origin, says, "I don't mourn her death as much as I mourn her last days of throat cancer where she was left to rot alone with no support from her government's Ministry Of Culture and the government-run 'Lok Versa' who are not only supposed to uphold the glory of the folk heritage but also support artistes who create the folk heritage." Adnan is deeply affronted and angered by the apathetic attitude of the policy-makers towards iconic artistes in both India and Pakistan. "Look at how Mubarak Begum or the late Mehdi Hassan are treated! What is the point of glorifying the artiste once she is gone after abandoning her during her hour of need?...

He has served with the Special Forces in Afghanistan. But is Dan Jarvis facing his toughest challenge yet – as shadow arts minister?
Britain has had some unlikely arts (and shadow arts) ministers over the years. But none so far-fetched, perhaps, as Dan Jarvis, latterly Major Jarvis, company commander in the Parachute Regiment, who won the Barnsley Central byelection last March and is now three months into his role as shadow culture minister. It's a swift rise and it's easy to see what a valuable scalp he is for Ed Miliband's Labour: an officer who has just received an MBE for his military record, and who has been a committed Labour member since his teens.
