Farid Char

Farid Char is an amateur astronomer with more than 15 years of experience in outreach and education, as well as co-author for several scientific publications. Discoverer of the fourth known Earth quasi-satellite, 2014 OL339.
Inspired by curiosity, motivated by passion and committed to science, astronomy has been his way of life, having had the opportunity to live under the dark skies of the Atacama Desert. Some of his work experience includes the Center of Astronomy of the University of Antofagasta (outreach and assistant duties), European Southern Observatory (bilingual tour guide at ESO Paranal Observatory, ELT site testing team) and Universidad Católica del Norte (astronomy teacher at the primary and undergraduate level).
Some of his works include a few science-fiction novelettes published in online platforms, as well as several astrophotography and audiovisual projects published thanks to fund-raising efforts. He was appointed as ESO Photo Ambassador in 2011.
Farid is atheist, apolitical, teetotaler, left-handed, psychologist, and childless by choice.
