A breath of fresh air for traditional commercial television was Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, especially in an era when streaming services and binge-worthy content ruled the television landscape.
If you enjoy vintage badass Westerns with lots of revolvers and hard-boiled cowboys, you have probably heard of, if not seen, Paramount’s neo-Western drama series. Fans of the genre will find much to enjoy in this gripping drama series that brings back the glamour of Hollywood’s golden era into the present day.

But before going on to give birth to one of the best TV shows ever, Sheridan, 54, was just an actor, most known for his role in the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy (2008–2010). However, he left Kurt Sutter’s series and later said the experience motivated him to work on Yellowstone.

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender is undergoing yet another behind-the-scenes change. Albert Kim, who served as showrunner for Season 1, is stepping down ahead of Season 2, passing his responsibilities to Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani.
As for Kim, he’s leaping from one adaptation of a beloved children’s franchise to another; he recently signed on to join Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians as an executive producer for its upcoming second season. He isn’t leaving the Avatar world entirely, however, as he’ll remain on board as an EP.

Tom Ripley is one of literature’s great con men, and Andrew Scott is a perfect choice to play him. The Fleabag and Sherlock actor is charming and has a sophisticated air… and yet there’s something a little off about him. (Even when he played a priest in Fleabag, he had a mischievous glint in his eye.) He slips effortlessly into the title role in Netflix’s Ripley — all eight episodes are now streaming; I’ve seen the first four — and the lush black-and-white cinematography is a joy to behold. The series is badly hampered by an overly deliberate pace,...

Exclusive: Kurt Sutter and Katey Sagal have teamed up for their first podcast, Pie. People. Influences. Experiences. The program will start April 2, available on all podcast players and YouTube.
They describe Pie as an intimate parlor conversation exploring the ingredients that “baked up” each guest. It is a respectful, deep dive into nature and nurture — family, faith, friends, hometowns, schooling, mentors, tormentors, etc. It will be the heart-to-heart chat that gives us some authentic insight into each guest’s personal and professional choices — in the arts, athletics, healthcare, politics, etc.
I can testify that between them, this couple can cover a healthy span of topics. A few years back, I convinced Sutter to co-live blog the Emmys for Deadline. Aspiring television writer Brian Beneker, whose credits as a script coordinator go back more than 20 years, isn’t the only straight white male to feel that he was being shut out of a writing job because of diversity initiatives. But so far he appears to be the only one willing to seek out Stephen Miller’s America First Legal foundation, associating himself with a Trump world figure who is particularly loathed by progressives.
With his lawsuit against CBS and Paramount alleging that he faced discrimination when he did not get a staff writing job on the CBS military drama Seal Team, Beneker has become a vehicle through which Miller is waging his war on diversity and inclusion efforts in the entertainment industry. In doing so, Beneker has defined himself in a way that is likely to stick. Reached by phone, he declined to comment, as did his attorneys.

Many actors often make headlines for keeping props from the set of movies or shows (usually after filming is wrapped) to keep as memorabilia. Charlie Hunnam, star of Sons of Anarchy and Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, is among those who confessed to following such a tradition. But he may have gone a tad bit overboard with his pursuit. Hunnam apparently “stole everything” from his uber-popular FX crime drama series, especially from the costume department!

Katey Sagal thought she would feel out of place playing on the drama Sons of Anarchy. After all, she was known for more comedic roles on Married with Children and Futurama, so she understood the irony of her casting. However, series creator Kurt Sutter saw something in Sagal, and certainly who would know better than her own husband? Sagal said during a panel at Steel City Con that despite the occasionally awkward work relationship, their professional marriage benefited them both. Evan Peters, who starred as Quicksilver in Fox’s “X-Men” prequel series and earned acclaim playing Jeffrey Dahmer in Ryan Murphy’s blockbuster “Monster” Netflix miniseries, has joined the cast of Disney’s long-gestating “Tron: Ares,” an individual with knowledge told TheWrap on Wednesday.
Peters will star alongside Jared Leto in the sci-fi threequel helmed by Joachim Rønning, which will hopefully begin shooting in August in Vancouver. Emma Ludbrook, Jeffrey Springer and Leto are producing. Russell Allen is executive producing.
The Walt Disney Company has been trying to make a follow-up to “Tron: Legacy” for over a decade. The first “Tron,” which earned two Academy Award nominations — but none for its then-groundbreaking special effects — earned just $50 million worldwide on a $17 million budget. That was seen as a disappointment in 1982 but built enough of a cult audience for Disney to roll the dice in 2010 with the $170 million budgeted “Tron: Legacy.”
