If anyone is good at spotting hidden meanings in movies, it’s Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino wrote a book of film criticism in which he said one of Elvis Presley’s movies had a rich subtext. The film was helmed by one of the most consequential action movie directors of all time.
Quentin Tarantino felt 1 Elvis Presley movie is similar its director’s struggles in Hollywood
In his 2022 book Cinema Speculation, Tarantino talked about the work of film director Don Siegel of Dirty Harry fame. “But the rogue law enforcement officer, at odds with their superiors, who operates independently to get their man and enforce their own self-determined version of justice, is practically the quintessential Siegel protagonist,” he wrote. “Even his criminals go rogue.
“Mickey Rooney’s Baby Face Nelson stands in direct contrast to Leo Gordon’s Dillinger, and both Walter Matthau’s Charley Varrick and Burt Reynolds’ cat burglar...

Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of David Grann’s Killers of the Flower Moon is the latest turn in a long motion picture tradition of pilfering FBI case files for screen scenarios. Originally, Hollywood coveted the validation of the bureau (“based on actual FBI case histories!”) and the personal imprimatur of its lord high ruler, J. Edgar Hoover (who in 1945 actually read life insurance commercials for NBC radio’s This Is Your FBI). Today, it often takes cues without the official stamp of the FBI shield. Either way, the two American institutions have enjoyed a profitable relationship.
Created in 1908 within the Department of Justice as the Bureau of Investigation and formally branded with the trademark initials in 1935, the FBI grew up during the first wave of electronic age media and took full advantage of the coincidence. F. Murray Abraham was conspicuously absent from the latest season of the Apple TV+ video game industry comedy "Mythic Quest." While no reason was given for his departure from the show when it was announced last April, Rolling Stone now reports that Abraham was dismissed from his role in the series after at least two sexual misconduct complaints were made against him.
According to the outlet, the "Moon Knight" and "The White Lotus" actor received a warning after a first incident was reported, and was asked to, in the language of Rolling Stone, "keep away from some of the show's actresses." Abraham was ultimately let go from the series after Rob McElhenney, who co-created the show and stars as game industry guru Ian Grimm, learned about a second incident.
A statement from Lionsgate to Rolling Stone in response to the story doesn't add much to the initial two-sentence statement released last spring.

The Hold Steady performed “Sideways Skull,” a track from their recently released The Price of Progress album, on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday.
Frontman Craig Finn peered out into the void while hectoring a typically verbose narrative about meeting another band, drinking Newcastle, accepting a woman’s schoolyard insult-flirts (“She’d like me better if I didn’t wear glasses”), and watching a band of burnouts in Beatle boots. About two-and-a-half minutes in, the throbbing bar-rock riffs give way to a quiet piano line before Finn & Co. wind things back up.
