Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson recently made his grand return to wrestling with the WWE, but the star might be taking his "heel" persona a little too far these days.
There's absolutely nothing unusual in Hollywood when it comes to the delicate art of managing high-profile egos -- just ask Vin Diesel, who knows all too well from his days bumping heads with his famous co-star during the "Fast and Furious" saga -- but things seem to have escalated to a whole new level on the set of Amazon Studios' upcoming Christmas film "Red One." That's the latest scuttlebutt according to extensive reporting by Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap, who paints an alarming picture of habitual lateness, deeply unprofessional behavior, and producing inexperience in several crucial roles. All of these factors seem to have come together to turn what was initially envisioned as a straight-to-streaming original and a potential franchise starter...

Some might say they don’t want a lot for Christmas, but who’s going to turn down a Christmas movie starring rapper-actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and comedian Lil Rel Howery?
Directed by Tim Story, and produced by Will Packer’s Will Packer Productions, comes the comedic fantasy film “Dashing Through the Snow,” which carries the title of the classic Christmas jingle “Dashing Through the Snow (Jingle Bells).”
In the lighthearted tale, Bridges stars as Eddie Garrick, a social worker who no longer believes in the magic of Christmas due to a traumatic childhood experience. But, with the help of his Christmas-loving daughter Charlotte (Madison Skye Validum) and good ol’ Saint Nick — who just goes by Nick (Lil Rel Howery) — the group is on a mission to restore Eddie’s faith in Christmas while evading wicked politician Conrad Harf (Oscar Nuñez).

The Santa Clauses is back for Season 2 on Disney+, featuring a more expansive cast than ever before in the franchise's history.
Following up on the success of Disney's The Santa Clause trilogy, The Santa Clauses centers yet again on Tim Allen's Scott Calvin, a man who - after seeing Saint Nick fall from a roof one Christmas night - is forced to take on the role of Santa and deliver toys to the children of the world.
However, the conceit of the streaming series sees Scott trying to find a Santa successor as he aims to retire. However, things do not go as planned, making the Man in Red look to his son, Cal, to potentially follow in his boot tracks.

Disney has revealed an official trailer for a holiday fantasy comedy titled Dashing Through The Snow, directed by Tim Story (who last made The Blackening). Arriving for streaming in November on Disney+, meaning this movie is skipping theaters entirely. A divorced social worker for the Atlanta police despises Christmas due to a painful childhood memory. Even though we're not done with Halloween, Disney isn't wasting anytime digging back into the world of Santa Claus with a second season of the Disney+ original series "The Santa Clauses." Tim Allen is back as jolly old Saint Nick, and now he's focusing on turning all the happenings at the North Pole into a family business. Elizabeth Mitchell is still as supportive as ever as Mrs. Claus, Cal Calvin Claus (Austin Kane) is preparing to eventually become Santa Claus at some point with a little Santa training program, and Sandra Calvin Claus is helping out in the background by taking care of the reindeer and whatnot.
Of course, getting the North Pole in shape for Christmas isn't their biggest concern; there's trouble brewing in the form of another Santa Claus. Eric Stonestreet ("Modern Family") is playing Magnus Antas or The Mad Santa. Apparently, he thinks Scott Calvin's version...

Max Causey (Jared Korotkin) would probably be on the Naughty List if he hadn’t accidentally killed the man who writes it one fateful Christmas Eve when he was just six years old. Flash forward 12 years and Max still feels guilty about his trap that sent Santa to an early grave along with the world’s Christmas spirit. But although Max buried Santa’s body all those years ago, he kept Saint Nick’s brain fresh in a jar, and thanks to a groundbreaking electrocution experiment he’s been working on with his brilliant friend, Paige Byers (Ophelia Rivera), as well as the body parts he’s been stealing from the local morgue, Max sees an opportunity to finally bury his own guilt and bring Santa back from the dead. The only problem? Once resurrected, this new version of Santa, aka “Santastein,” has something much worse than coal in store...

So, the trio decides to get the gang back together and storm Rampage’s mansion to confront the swindlers and settle the deal. From the moment you saw the trailer, you knew exactly what you were going to get with Violent Night. The biggest selling points had to be the high concept and lead performer David Harbour. These days, he elevates just about everything he is in, so this already made it worth seeing.
The film opened to mixed reviews and reasonable box office, but Universal Home Entertainment seemed to release this in a rush, as a Blu-ray only release even as work begins on a sequel.
The Home Alone/Die Hard riffs are hard to miss but the inventiveness of the antics are amusing as a band of thieves led by John Leguizamo invade a Greenwich mansion to rob them blind. The bickering family spans three generations and most fill the stock character types one expects from such fare. It helps to have Beverly D’Angelo as the shrewish matriarch, able to go toe to toe with Leguizamo.

Tim Allen is busting out his white beard. The actor stars as Saint Nick himself in the first trailer for Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses.”
The show serves as a follow-up to the “Santa Clause” Christmas series, which released three films between 1994 and 2006. Allen starred in each film as Scott Calvin, a toy salesman who accidentally causes the death of Santa Claus and is roped into becoming the holiday icon’s successor. Later sequels saw Scott gain a Mrs. Claus in Carol Newman (played by Elizabeth Mitchell) and battle Jack Frost (Martin Short). Although the sequels received increasingly negative reviews as the series went on, all three movies were box-office successes and are now seasonal classics.
“The Santa Clauses” sees Allen and Mitchell reprise their roles, as well as Eric Lloyd as Scott’s son Charlie and David Krumholtz as Bernard, the head elf of the North Pole. The limited series finds Scott,...

Master Chef and kitchen hellion Gordon Ramsay is hoping to make Santa’s nice list with Gordon Ramsay’s Road Trip: Christmas Vacation, a holiday special only he could cook up. On the heels of his December 13 European Vacation, this outing finds Ramsay in Finland with fellow chef Gino D’Acampo and acclaimed French maître d’ Fred Sirieix on a snack-filled trek to find Saint Nick himself. Here, Ramsay shares his take on spending the season with family, friends, and, of course, food. (Credit: Fox) How does one begin mapping out the search for Santa Claus’ home? Gordon Ramsay: Good question. I tried to ask Siri but she couldn’t find the right answers, so I had to call my friends Gino and Fred! How long have you known them? And more importantly, how well do you travel together? We’ve known each other for years in the U.K. restaurant industry.

I for one will never tire of them: those assorted candy boxes with always one or two disagreeable sorts to spit out, but overall filled with enjoyable treats. And so it goes in the movies as well; call them horror portmanteaus, omnibuses, or lotsashortstogether, they offer outrageous highs littered with occasional lows that offer a sugar rush once the box is done. Tales from the Crypt (1972) is one of my favorite examples of a horrific sampler.
This Amicus production was given a release by Twentieth Century Fox in its native UK, and by Cinerama Releasing Corporation in the US, and did quite well on both sides of the pond. Cinerama got the jump in March, with the UK afforded spookier seasonal vibes that September. Critics were kind to this latest from the studio that gave us Torture Garden and The House That Dripped Blood, and spotlit Peter Cushing in perhaps his most poignant role.

As the embodiment of kindness, generosity, and Yuletide beneficence, Santa Claus presents some mighty big black boots, much less a red suit, for any actor to fill. But jolly old Saint Nicholas has appeared in the movies for as long as the movies have existed, and here are some of our favorite actors who’ve steered the sleigh (not counting Billy Bob Thornton and anyone else who has played a guy who is pretending to be Santa):
Kurt Russell in “The Christmas Chronicles” (2018) and “The Christmas Chronicles 2” (2020): There’s more than a little bit of Russell’s trucker character from “Big Trouble in Little China” in his take on Father Christmas, but that blue-collar bravado and dad-bod energy make this character, in the words of critic Nathan Rabin, “a Santa who f–ks.”
Jim Broadbent, “Arthur Christmas” (2011): In this delightful animated adventure from Aardman, Broadbent plays...

Megan The Stallion and James Corden spun the rapper’s hit single “Savage” into a festive Christmas ditty on Monday Night’s Late Late Show, titling it — what else? — “Santa.”
Decked out as Saint Nick himself, Corden bounced around Christmas trees onstage with Megan, who gifted us some way-better-than-they-needed-to-be bars to match the holiday cheer: “He’s the new mall Santa/Ho-ho-hoing through Atlanta/Suit from Dolce & Gabbana/Binged The Crown just for Diana.” The silly performance concluded with some soundstage snowfall, Megan riding on top of a giant wooden horse,...

Before “stan” was a colloquialism used to describe obsessive fandom, it was a hit single off Eminem’s 2000 album “The Marshall Mathers LP.” Now, two decades later, comedian Pete Davidson parodied the song on “Saturday Night Live” by turning it into a twisted Christmas anthem, “Stu,” and the rapper himself got in on the fun.
With his hair bleached blond, as Eminem’s was in the late-1990s and early 200s, and wearing a white tank top as Devon Sawa did in the music video for “Stan,” Davidson descended down some basement steps to write his letter to Santa, which you can watch in the video above.
Surrounded by cut-out photos of jolly ole Saint Nick, he began, “Dear Santa / I can’t believe the year is almost over / it’s getting colder, I’m a year older but I’m still your soldier.”
Rather than wax nostalgic about his...

Oh, Santa's gonna come and make him mine this Christmas
Santa's gonna come and make him mine, mine
Oh, Santa's gonna come and make him mine this Christmas
Santa's gonna come and make him mine, mine
Santa, if you get this letter, won't you help me out?
I know you're kind of busy with your elves right now
And I don't know how
You do the things you do when I sleep on Christmas Eve
But it's amazing
And I bet that you could bring me back my baby
Because every time I see Christmas lights
I feel this void inside and I just can't take it

Mel Gibson has slowly been mounting a comeback over the last few years, although at this point, his best chance of regaining his former status as one of the biggest stars in the business is a lot more likely to happen on the other side of the camera.
As a director, Gibson has lost none of his visual or storytelling prowess, as evidenced by his last effort Hacksaw Ridge earning $180 million at the box office and picking up six Academy Award nominations including Best Picture and Best Director, where it walked away with wins for Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing.
As an actor, the 64 year-old has struggled to gain any real momentum lately and has largely been relegated to supporting roles in forgettable genre fare or headlining the occasional hidden gem like Get the Gringo or Blood Father. Lethal Weapon 5 has the potential to deliver Gibson’s biggest...
