Hunter Schafer rose to fame for her role as Jules Vaughn, a trans girl on Euphoria. It was her breakout role and an important one too, not just for Schafer but for many within the LGBTQ+ community since representation comes with the price of stereotypes usually.
Since then, the actress has slowly carved a niche for herself, and she is now one of the most vocal artists in the industry. However, Schafer has reached a point where she is selective about the roles she picks. As a consequence, she has turned down several trans roles that were offered to her.

Zendaya took to social media on Tuesday to pay tribute to her Euphoria co-star and onscreen savior Angus Cloud, who died at 25.
The Emmy-winning actress’ emotional statement comes the day after news broke that Cloud, who played Fezco in the hit HBO series, died a week after burying his father in Ireland, a loss his family said he took very hard.
“Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus (Conor),” Zendaya wrote. “I’m so grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking of it).”
She continued, “I know people use this expression often when talking about folks they love…’they could light up any room they entered’ but boy let me tell you, he was the best at it.

Even though Euphoria is told through Rue’s perspective, Jules Vaughn plays a key role in the show. Jules is a transgender girl and Rue’s best friend. Played by the phenomenal Zendaya and talented Hunter Schafer, both Rue and Jules are compelling characters. Jules starts out as one of the show’s most intriguing and powerful characters in season 1, but unfortunately, her character gets a little bit sidelined in season 2. Rue and Jule’s complex relationship is masterfully executed in season 1. As Rue battles opioid addiction, Jules is trying her best to navigate high school life and explore her sexuality.

When Hunter Schafer was cast in Euphoria, she had no idea how much the very fabric of her life would change. In fact, when she learned she’d booked the role of Jules Vaughn, the show hadn’t even been picked up for a season order. Shows about high school are hardly new. From early examples like "Happy Days" and "The Wonder Years" to the '90s heyday of "Dawson's Creek" and "Beverly Hills 90210," teenage drama has always been a part of the television landscape. Many of us look back on our time in high school with a mix of horror and embarrassment, but the years between 9th and 12th grade have never been more stressful than in Sam Levinson's "Euphoria." The HBO drama is a daring mix of grit and glitter that follows 17-year-old Rue Bennet (Zendaya) as she struggles to navigate her junior year while battling a debilitating drug addiction. "Euphoria" has faced its share of criticism (most notably from D.A.R.E) that the show glamorizes drug use. Defenders say it's an authentic portrayal of a disease that affects millions around the world. Executive producer and star Zendaya says their goal is not to be role models,...

“I feel like real life is always such a letdown,” Jules Vaughn (Hunter Schafer) announces midway through this second Euphoria special, titled “Fuck Anyone Who’s Not a Sea Blob.” She’s referring to how much more satisfying she finds online relationships than in-person ones, particularly in the aftermath of being catfished by sociopath supervillain Nate (Jacob Elordi). Zendaya became the youngest actress to win an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series award at the 72nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards Sunday. The 24-year-old picked up her statuette — remotely, because these were the first-ever virtual Emmys — for her starring role as Rue in HBO’s “Euphoria.”
While Zendaya is the youngest performer to win a golden lady in the lead actress category, the youngest overall is actress Roxana Zal, who won in 1984 — when she was 14 years old — for her supporting role in the TV movie “Something About Amelia.”
And in 1977, Kristy McNichol won the Emmy for supporting actress in a drama series on her 15th birthday for the drama series “Family.” (She won again in that same category two years later.)
Readers can find the complete list of Sunday’s Emmy winners here.
