French One-Sheet and Trailer for The Horde

The French trailer and one-sheet for the Xavier Gens-produced flick by Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher, The Horde, appeared online today, and we have them both for you all good and foreign like.

The film comes out next year in France and IFC has landed distro here in the States, but there's no info on when we'll be seeing it. Dig on the goods below courtesy of Allocine.

Official Synopsis:

"North of Paris. In order to avenge the murder of one of their own by a group of ruthless gangsters, four corrupt cops go on a rampage in a condemned building serving as the mobsters' hideout. Now trapped, the officers are about to be executed when the unimaginable occurs: hordes of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic creatures invade the building, savagely attacking everyone. Unexpected alliances are made when their lives are threatened by the unthinkable."

Sure it was produced by Frontier(s) director Xavier Gens, but the French zombie flick The Horde is absolutely terrible. With that said, maybe the company behind it learned a lesson? Bloody Disgusting exclusively learned that next up on their slate is Territories, which is to be directed by Olivier Abbou from a screenplay by Thibault Lang-Willara. Canada, near the Us border. Jalil, Michelle, Gab, Leslie and Tom are driving back home after a wedding. A car blocks the road. Forces them to stop. It's the border police. The officers check their ID. They seem suspicious. Afm '09: IFC Films Acquires French Zombie Flick 'The Horde'

Films Distribution has sold French zombie movie The Horde to IFC Films in the Us and to Showgate in Japan. What started as a small zombie movie ended up as a bestseller, said French sales outfit Film Distributions Nicolas Brigaud-Robert, who added that he is close to a Korean deal. The film, which was shown in official selection in Venice Days in Sept, is directed by Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher. It follows four corrupt cops on a rampage in a condemned building who collide with hordes of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic creatures. It was also produced by Frontier(s) director Xavier Gens. The Xavier Gens-produced The Horde has been acquired for U.S. distribution. Announced at the American Film Market this week, Film Distribution sold the French film to IFC Films. Directed by Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher, Horde follows four corrupt cops who are out to avenge the death of one of their own. They corner a group of gangsters in a condemned building which winds up being invaded by hordes of bloodthirsty, cannibalistic creatures. Watch a teaser trailer here . While it isn’t a surprise to hear how I feel about some of the issues that befell Xavier Gens’ first endeavor into American cinema (Hitman), I haven’t really spoken on the director himself.  There was much potential in Hitman, and it certainly gave us a handful of inspired shots, but, as a whole, it didn’t even feel like a master editor could have saved the film from heading towards the trainwreck it eventually caused.  Frontiere(S) was also a film with much potential that fell short.  Though it didn’t fall off the cliff as hard as Hitman, the reasoning being the studio involved in the two projects, it still wasn’t a superb, horror film, and it was clearly at the bottom of the list of the wave of French horror films that hit our shores a year or two back.

“Hitmen” director Xavier Gens is taking a trip to the future. The post-apocalyptic future. Which, in case you’re wondering, is nowhere near as pleasant as the not-apocalyptic future. Gens has signed on to the direct the movie “The Fallout”, described as a futuristic thriller that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world set around a New York apartment building that has been turned into a shelter by the survivors. Karl Mueller and Eron Sheean, who co-wrote the script, will co-produce the film. The article doesn’t mention if this is an adaptation of the videogame franchise called “Fallout”, which you may have seen commercials for. The wonderfully sick mind behind Frontière(s), Xavier Gens, is set to return to the genre (sort of) for The Fallout, a post-apocalyptic thriller set in a futuristic New York City. Unlike his adaptation of the Eidos video game Hitman, this one isn’t an adaptation of the long-running RPG series of the same name.

Screen Daily reports that producer Ross Dinerstein stated, "Xavier’s vision for this film is extraordinary. He brings a visual edge to this fascinating exploration of the human condition."

The film is a mixture of Assault on Precinct 13 and Lord of the Flies. "With a collective of ‘End of the World’ movies hitting the theatres presently, this film will undoubtedly stand out like a ravenous Pit Bull in a school playground… brace yourselves cause this film has a serious bite to it!” said producer Darryn Welch.

Screen Daily reports that Xavier Gens (pictured), the French director of the bloodfest Frontier(S) as well as the actioner Hitman, next takes the helm of Fallout. The same year that Inside took me to horror heaven at the Toronto International Film Festival, Xavier Gens' Frontier(s) was also delivering infinite gory bliss. After getting behind the camera for Hitman and producing the lackluster (ok, abomination) The Horde, Gens is returning to the directors chair with The Fallout. The director of a popular 2007 video game adaptation has found a new film to direct. According to Variety, Xavier Gens (Hitman) has come aboard to direct Fallout.

Little was said on the plot of the film, only that it was set in a New York City apartment building that was converted to a fallout shelter in this new post-apocalyptic world.

I'm always ready to see a post-apocalyptic action thriller, even when it turns out to be something like Babylon A.D. Call me an eternal optimist. Even the lousy films often have a kernel of a good idea in them. Now a new film called The Fallout, set in post-apocalyptic New York, will shoot early next year. But I'm already a bit detached from it after reading the directorial assignment. Helming will be Xavier Gens, the man behind Hitman and Frontier(s). Put pretty simply, Gens has two strikes against him in my book. Hitman may have featured Olga Kurylenko's severe allergy to clothes and a heroically stoic good try from Timothy Olyphant, but it was truly a mess. (Granted, the post-production on Hitman was contentious, with reports of Gens being fired from the film.) And Frontier(s) recycled elements of other films in a way that left me bored. »
