The format of new media is always evolving, and one thing that's white-hot right now is exclusive short-form online series. Synopsis
3:30am (Los Angeles): Julia is jolted awake; a video message on her cell phone from her best friend, Susan. "I've been kidnapped... you can't call the police... and don't turn off your cell phone. He'll kill me if you do..." and as the shadowed figure of a dark, ominous man fills the frame, Susan screams and the message cuts out. Confused, Julia receives a text message from the kidnapper: "Dead Cell = Dead Friend." A peaceful night turns into a race against time. Using her cell phone as her only lifeline, Julia must »

Somehow without much fanfare, all 18 episodes of Jessica Rose-starring Blood Cell snuck out this week on TheWB.com. What was once one of most anticipated (if YouTube trailer views mean anything) series cooked up at the now-defunct 60Frames, is now tucked away on TheWB. Right off the bat, this on is, well, gripping. A girl has been kidnapped and her friends Julia (Rose) Alex (Sara Sanderson) are lopped into the hunt when a late night call from their kidnapped friend Susan jolts Julia. Being a web series, the media-rich phone shows a video friend Susan—crying and scared. The kidnapper is a disturbingly grotesque thing (think Saw’s tricycle riding clown and you wouldn’t be far off), but there’s a catch: Julia can’t turn off her phone – if she does, her friend dies. A text message hits the phone moments later: “Dead Cell = Dead Friend.” Over »

Chicago – I am an unabashed junkie of anthology horror shows and will gladly debate with you why “The Twilight Zone” is the best show of all time before we get to discussing “The Outer Limits,” “Amazing Stories,” and “Tales From the Crypt.” Naturally, I was a big fan of Showtime’s “Masters of Horror” and was intrigued when a lot of that series’ major players jumped to NBC for “Fear Itself”. The show was a ratings failure and got very little buzz and the first season DVD makes it clear why. Even for an anthology show fan, this is a tough sell.
DVD Rating: 2.0/5.0 “Fear Itself” features thirteen episodes that aired on NBC during the summer of 2008. Like “Masters of Horror” (both shows were produced by the legendary Mick Garris), each episode was directed by a different horror writer and director. And like “Moh” the quality jumps wildly from episode »

When a TV series whose broadcast run got nipped in the bud re-emerges on DVD in its entirety, the hope is always that it will allow for the discovery of buried treasures. This is particularly so in the case of Fear Itself, since each of its 13 episodes was helmed by a different director, and only eight got aired before NBC quietly dropped it from the schedule in summer 2008.
Lionsgate’s new four-disc set, however, reveals that Fear Itself’s best stuff actually did make it to the tube the first time around, most notably the contributions by genre faves Stuart Gordon and Larry Fessenden. You can check out our previous reviews of the original eight via these links:

"Fear Itself" should be pretty fresh in your minds considering it's hitting DVD soon with some very bitchin' artwork. The short-lived show was like the unofficial third season of "Masters of Horror". For various reasons it was pulled before it could run its final five episodes. FEARnet is out to fix all that.
Starting on September 2nd the final five will begin being aired. Below you'll find a synopsis of each episode and when you can tune in to see them.
"Something With Bite," directed by Ernest Dickerson (NBC’s "Heroes"), is a reinvention of the classic werewolf story from writer Max Landis ("Masters of Horror"), the son of John Landis ("An American Werewolf in London"). When a veterinarian (Wendell Pierce, “The Wire”) is bitten by a large, strange animal brought into his clinic, he begins to see the world and his stale life differently. Almost a year after its sizzling teaser trailer went up on YouTube starring the original lonelygirl15 Jessica Rose, Blood Cell from web studio 60Frames has finally found a mass distribution deal. The horror-thriller web series has found a home on Warner Bros.' online network TheWB.com for release later this year. Back in October, we wondered what happened to Blood Cell, which seemed to have squandered its healthy web buzz. The trailer (above), which was released on April 1, 2008, netted some 5.2 million views. The eighteen episode series was produced by Jeremy Bell and written-directed by genre director Eduardo Rodriguez. »

Right now her claim to fame is being "LonelyGirl15", but soon people will know Jessica Rose as the star of "Blood Cell," an 18-webisode series on The WB.com.
THR reports that Rose will portray a young woman [who] must race against the clock to stop a sadistic madman after receiving a disturbing late-night phone call from a friend in danger.
The project, which is being launched by 60Frames Entertainment, was written and directed by Eduardo Rodriguez and produced by Jeremy Bell. No premiere date has been set yet, but I'm sure we'll be hearing more soon.

Remember those LonelyGirl15 You Tube videos? Not sure what ever came of those, or the true intention behind them. (I think it was a promotional stunt for a horror movie.) Regardless, actress Jessica Rose, whom starred as "LonelyGirl15" will next be seen in a new WB.com web-series titled Blood Cell, according to a post on The Hollywood Reporter.
The article says, ""Blood Cell," from 60Frames Entertainment, is an 18-Webisode series featuring Rose, best known for the 2006 Internet sensation that made the LonelyGirl15 alias known throughout the Web.
In "Cell," a young woman must race against the clock to stop a sadistic madman after receiving a disturbing late-night phone call from a friend in danger. No premiere date has been set.
The project, first announced last year, was written and directed Eduardo Rodriguez and produced by Jeremy Bell. Rose recently had a recurring role on ABC Family's "Greek."
