Netflix is working on a new single-camera comedy, Dumped, from writer Heather Flanders (Mixed-ish), director Liz Friedlander (The Rookie), manager-producer Robyn Meisinger (Love in the Time of Corona), and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment. According to Deadline, the streamer has opened up a writers room for the show, which is part of the Netflix development process as it does not do pilots. Dumped remains in development with an eye toward a potential straight-to-series order. The half-hour comedy revolves around a hopeless romantic and her best friends who find themselves playing amateur detectives when they investigate her recent ex. This snooping soon sends the group of friends falling down a rabbit hole of lies, deceit, and danger. Flanders, known for her work on Paramount+’s iCarly, ABC’s Mixed-ish, and Fox’s The Cool Kids, wrote the script on spec before Meisinger brought it to Kapital, who attached Friedlander as director.

Another classic sitcom is eying a reboot. Fox has given a put pilot commitment to Alice, a multi-camera comedy based on the 1976 CBS TV series starring Linda Lavin. It comes from Diablo Cody (One Mississippi), Liz Astrof (2 Broke Girls) and Warner Bros. TV, which produced the original series and where Cody and her Vita Vera Films are based.
Written and executive produced by Cody and Astrof, Alice is based on the TV series Alice, which in turn was based on the 1974 feature film Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, directed by Martin Scorsese. The Fox reboot centers on Long Island housewife Alice Hyatt, who has finally worked up the courage to leave her cheating husband. She drives cross-country to Arizona with her teenage son Tommy, and gets a job as a waitress at a roadside diner where the staff becomes their new surrogate family.
Warner Bros. TV co-produces with Vita Vera Films.

Ridley Scott is set to direct his first TV series ever with a new sci-fi project being developed for TNT called Raised By Wolves. Scott will also serve as an executive producer. This definitely sounds like the kind of story that Scott would have fun with bringing to life.
Raised By Wolves is a serialized drama about “two androids tasked with raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet. As the burgeoning colony of humans threatens to be torn apart by religious differences the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task.”
Scott is no stranger to telling stories with androids with film franchises such as Blade Runner and Alien under his belt. Scott had this to say in a statement:
“I’m always searching for new frontiers in the sci-fi genre and have found a true original in Raised by Wolves — a wholly distinct and imaginative world,...
