Into the Spotlight, the coming-of-age musical based on a screenplay by teenager Kate Larson, who was just 15 years old when she wrote it, has found a home in North America.
The family feature — which stars Leigh-Allyn Baker (Good Luck Charlie), Karen Abercrombie (War Room), and Larson — has been acquired by Entertainment Squad, which has set a VOD release date of Sep. 1.
Directed by Lisa Arnold and executive produced by Cakki and Brian Warren of Revive Productions, Into the Spotlight centers on a high-schooler who grew up writing music with her rockstar dad but always preferred to stay out of the limelight. When her best friend isn’t able to perform, she steps in as her substitute at their high school talent show. For luck, she uses a vintage, glowing microphone that turns out to be enchanted. Her incredible performance goes viral and overnight she becomes a star. Discovering fame and losing herself along the way,...

Exclusive: Nagra-kudelski’s myCinema digital content distribution system has announced its full slate of films a year after it’s launch, teed off by the James Franco feature Zeroville, which the actor both directed and headlines.
Originally, Alchemy took domestic rights at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival to Zeroville months before the company capsized due to bankruptcy. Since its pick-up at Tiff, Zeroville unfortunately became entangled in Alchemy’s financial woes and was thrown into distribution limbo until the Us distribution rights were recently acquired by Nagra. The pic will hit cinemas in September. The comedy based on Steve Erickson’s novel about a young actor who arrives in Hollywood during a transitional time also stars Seth Rogen, Megan Fox, Joey King, Will Ferrell, Dave Franco, Danny McBride, and Jacki Weaver. myCinema delivers films over the internet which individual theaters can then licenses for any number of weeks of play.

You always have to worry when movies are advertised as “x meets y”, even if that – sometimes – is actually the best way to describe a film, In the case of Intensive Care, its “John Wick meets Don’t Breathe” an interesting combination if there ever was one. But its also a combo that conjures up all sorts of exciting hype – hype that the film couldn’t possibly live up to right… Right?
Well, sort of.
Like all great action movies, Intensive Care keeps its plot simple: three low life criminals plan to rob an elderly woman’s home, but her caregiver turns out to be a former special ops agent with an agenda of her own. That’s...

"Paycheck ain't going to mean shit if you die two miles in, Kenny." View the first official trailer for an indie survival horror-thriller titled Mine 9, about a horrible mine disaster trapping nine men underground. From filmmaker Eddie Mensore, the film takes place in the Appalachians, where miners working two miles into the earth end up stuck underground after a methane explosion leaves them with only one hour of oxygen. Mine 9 stars Terry Serpico, Mark Ashworth, Kevin Sizemore, Clint James, Drew Starkey, Alpha Trivette, Erin Elizabeth Burns, Francine Locke, and Elizabeth Houston. The other recent big mine survival film was The 33, based on the true story. This one looks very dark and murky and muddy, of course, but also a bit more violent and crazy and dangerous. That horror wink at the end of this trailer is a bit odd. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Eddie Mensore's Mine 9,...

Teens and their parents have a boatload of issues to deal with these days, and it seems like director Leif Rokesh wants to deal with all of them in “Reach.” Every character represents a superficial snapshot of modern strife in one form or another. Though its heart is in the right place when it comes to many of the boldly-portrayed sentiments, the indie melodrama plays like a hokey, weak after-school special rather than a powerful and alarming wake-up call.
Steven Turano (Garrett Clayton) is going through a rough patch on his first day as a high school senior. This year should be a cake walk, but for the perpetually withdrawn, suicidal teen, life is a torturous prison. His only potential escape route is the unopened bottle of prescription pills tucked away in his backpack. Steven is bullied sun up ’til sundown by men that include his disciplinarian detective father Steve...

"Maybe it's time to consider getting some help." Freestyle Digital Media has released the first official trailer for an indie film titled Reach, from first-time filmmaker Leif Rokesh. The honest high school drama is about a social awkward kid named Steven, played by Garrett Clayton (from Hairspray Live! and "The Fosters"), who is planning on killing himself. A new kid in school befriends him and provides some comfort to help him step back. Steven's new friends try to find creative ways to pull him out of his depression. The cast includes Corbin Bernsen, Jordan Doww, Joey Bragg, Johnny James Fiore, Kevin Sizemore, and Concetta Tomei. This looks alright, a bit dour and depressing, perhaps with some positivity to offer. Here's the official trailer (+ posters) for Leif Rokesh's Reach, direct from Freestyle's YouTube: A socially awkward band geek, Steven Turano (Garrett Clayton), is planning on killing himself. A young Colorado native had her first screenplay made into a full-length feature film released last week, and she did it with a crew full of women and before she had even graduated from college.
Tara Stone, 27, grew up in Monument, Colo. and was attending the University of Denver for a music performance degree when she decided it was time to start over, move to San Diego and pursue screenwriting.
"Everyone says San Diego is paradise. It's not true," said Stone, adding that she's glad to be spending some vacation time at home. "Colorado is paradise."
Her screenplay, "Red Line," recently screened at the San Diego Film Festival and won the U-t Award. It's also been selected for international distribution and is currently available to buy stateside on iTunes and Amazon.com, and will be available this fall at Walmart, Target and Netflix.

Plus, Linda, Big Jim and Barbie come face to face with Paul and a really big rifle.
Linda (Natalie Martinez) has to deal with the aftermath of Paul (Kevin Sizemore) killing a fellow police officer on the July 8 episode of Under The Dome. However, the town wants to deliver their own form of justice.
The Town Goes On A Manhunt For Paul
Julia (Rachelle Lefevre) questions whether Linda is capable of handling Paul and his manic behavior. Clearly, she had good reason to worry because minutes after Linda locks him up, he fools her into opening the cell door and knocks her to the ground, while stealing her gun in the process.
Big Jim (Dean Norris) returns home and questions his son, Junior (Alexander Koch), about the cuts on his face. Jim doesn’t really care that Barbie punched his son — he’s just worried about Junior making him look bad.

Duke Dies & No One Knows Who’s In Charge Anymore
Sheriff Perkins (Jeff Fahey) is dead. The dome causes his pacemaker to explode and now no one knows who’s in charge.
All electricity is cut off except for the radio station. Julia, who is a newspaper editor, heads to the radio station to see what she can find out. When she overhears military personnel calling the barricade a dome, she alarms all of the residents. However, she doesn...

Christina Sampson recently took a moment to let me in her little world of entertainment. She talks about all of her current and upcoming projects including some cool sci-fi films which I love of course. She also talks about her hobbies including football, video games and four wheelers and this is the point to where my little crush became a major crush. Sampson also has some side projects in the works and is a fan of charity work which also impressed me. Check out my latest "Versus" to find out more about actress Christina Sampson.
