Now available on Tubi, Donia Kash stars alongside Heidi N Closet, Cara Melle, Trinity the Tuck and Crystal Methyd in Slay, a Tubi Original horror-comedy that is available to watch right now. In our latest Q&a, Donia talks about their interest in the role, the experience on set, and their love of vampire movies!
How did you first get involved with Slay and what interested you in the role of Jax?
Jem Garrard was looking for a non-binary performer who could do both horror genre and still have that fast-paced comedic energy that Jax brings to Slay. I just so happened to have auditioned for them on a different project and never imagined that Jax was the character I would get to play. They’re a character that has such Fan-Them energy that also lives inside me but they totally geek out in an extroverted way seeing the queens.

At a time when hate and intolerance towards the LGBTQ+ community is on the rise, I wanted to write a horror comedy with heart that showcased drag queens and queers as the heroes. Drag queens have always been a symbol of resistance and resilience, so seeing them kick-ass against a bunch of blood-sucking vampires felt like a comical, yet pointed allegory.
– Jem Garrard, writer/director, Slay
Slay is what you might get if you mixed From Dusk Till Dawn with To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Only, instead of putting Hollywood actors in drag, cast lead roles with contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Alexis Michelle knows she has some explaining to do to fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars. The former Season 9 queen, now the latest eliminated from All Stars Season 8, tussled some fan feathers when eliminating Lala Ri in Episode 8. The surprising elimination came one week after Lala won the Episode 7 challenge and after she had saved Alexis from going home that night. When Episode 8’s sewing challenge came around, Lala asked Alexis to return the favor by saving her from being cut from the competition. Alexis said she would never forget Lala’s kindness but sent her packing that night anyway. TV Insider caught up with Alexis following her elimination in All Stars Season 8 Episode 9. Acting challenges on Ru Paul’s Drag Race have a very storied her-story on the show. while there have been some amazing performances on the show there have also have had some truly terrible ones such as the Lady McBitch challenge during season seven! However, I have to say that last week’s improvised whodunnit ‘forensic queens’ was one of my all-time favourites. Following in the footsteps of the Netflix original series Murderville or the highly successful Jury Duty show, the queens of All-Stars eight had to improvise their way through a series of scenes. In a shocking surprise, the two highlights of this challenge were Lala (who claimed her first win of the season this episode) and Jessica Wilde, who both delivered hilarious portrayals of the crooked security guard and snubbed All-Star queen respectively. Before we could even get to the challenge however there were buckets full of drama...

Despite being eliminated from the competition later in the episode, Kahanna Montrese is grateful that RuPaul stopped her from quitting RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 8. After several consecutive appearances in the bottom two, the drag queen — drag daughter of Drag Race Season 5 alum Coco Montrese — felt the building pressure to be insurmountable and, in a moment of self-doubt, wanted to leave the show early in Episode 7. Heidi N Closet had done the same in Episode 5 following a fight with Kahanna. The spar was caused by confusion during “Snatch Game of Love,” in which Kahanna played drag mother Coco. When her performance went south, Heidi (embodying Blackbeard) started riffing with Kahanna. The comments felt like a punch down to the Season 11 alum, and she confronted Heidi in the Werk Room afterward. Feeling ganged up on by Kahanna and Kandy Muse and feeling a lack of support from the other competitors,...

In last week’s episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race All-Stars season eight we saw Lala Ri and Heidi N Closet really shine as the bumbling duo of inexperience criminals and Jimbo claim the win after performing as an unhindered character dragged into a murderous rampage after being bullied by some popular girls in school! Jimbo keeps up her streak of losing every single lip-sync she had ever competed in on the show as we see the return of Shannel all the way from season one! I do have to say that the performance itself was fairly repetitive with the returning assassin twirling and Jimbo head-banging throughout! We sadly had to say farewell to Darienne Lake after Alexis Michelle essentially blamed the whole team’s shortcomings on her as the dead celebrity island was initially Darienne’s idea. I thought that while the idea was hers initially there was plenty...

There are many challenges that without a doubt occur at some point in any season of Drag Race. Whether that be a songwriting challenge, the snatch game or (most importantly for the most recent episode) a design challenge where the queens have to create unique outfits in the werk-room. One of the biggest storylines going into this season was that infamous bag dress created by Lala Ri in her original season and how she would cope with a design challenge when she was invited back for All-Stars eight. She showcased incredible growth with her handmade outfit this time but the best dresses award was reserved for Jessica Wilde who also won the preceding lip-sync to gain a $30,000 cash tip in the process! My favourite outfit from this episode would have to be Jessica’s diary queen outfit which was a gorgeous white gown with cascading fruit loops scattered around the dress!

Heidi N Closet shocked fans when she quit RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 8. Her departure came in Episode 5 as the queens prepared for the post-Snatch Game of Love runway. Heidi tells TV Insider that while it was a split decision, it’s not one she regrets. Here, she breaks down her decision to leave the competition early. It’s not very often that someone elects to leave Drag Race. You left in the heat of the moment during a Werk Room fight. Can you explain what you were feeling in that moment? Heidi N Closet: In that moment of time, I was hurt with what was happening between me and Kahanna. And then when Kandy had jumped in, which I feel like was very opportunistic, it took me aback and I felt like I was caught off guard. If anything I was kind of hurt, because I saw...

Those of us who saw 1987’s Fatal Attraction movie — in other words, all of us — might have thought that we knew how Paramount+’s series adaptation was going to end. But no, the thriller turned out to be as twisted as poor Alex’s mind, and Sunday’s two-part finale, as much a Season 2 preview as a Season 1 conclusion. That said, you are hereby warned that if you keep reading, you will find out spoilers. A whole bloody mess of spoilers.

Heidi N Closet just committed one of reality TV’s most common, most annoying sins.
Prior to hitting the runway in Episode 4 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 8, the sweet-and-supple queen revealed herself to be in possession of “tea that will burn this competition down,” implying that “a lot of these girls are going to end up hating each other” once the truth is revealed. As she put it, “This will go from best friend race to enemy race real fast.”

I have to admit that going into the opening episode of this season of Ru Paul’s Drag Race All-Stars I was quite surprised by the selection of queens asked to return to the werk-room. Don’t get me wrong every single one of the queens are extremely talented but some of these were not obvious choices or necessarily queens I would invite if I was in charge of casting. Unlike previous seasons there are not a lot of queens who have made it to the top four/three on their original seasons in fact there are quite a few queens in this iteration of all-stars who were eliminated first!
The first queen returning to our screens is the blessed and highly-favoured, gap-tooth icon Heidi N Closet from season twelve. This fan-favourite queen has been extremely busy recently with her podcast Hall and Closet (with co-star and season twelve winner...

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Bianca Del Rio recaps the latest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” season 8 alongside a guest host. Following Friday’s premiere episode, All Stars 2 winner and former “Pit Stop” host Alaska returns to dish the opening moments of the new season. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.
In their recap of episode 1, Bianca and Alaska started by critiquing the opening look choices that the queens made. Alaska was confused why Naysha Lopez put on a prison jumpsuit, favoring more the queens that extended their known brand in their looks, like Kahanna Montrese and Heidi N Closet. Alaska’s personal favorite though was Jaymes Mansfield‘s and Bianca preferred Jimbo for being different and fun. Then, for the “Famous Then” and “Famous Now” runway mini challenge, Alaska and Bianca both liked Alexis Michelle‘s looks most.

In May, Paramount+ is will be the streaming home for a host of new titles, including the well-timed documentary “King Charles: The Boy Who Walked Alone.” Utilizing original footage and interviews with staffers and friends, this CBS News film provides an insider’s look at England’s newest ruler. Bullied by his father and the child of an unemotional mother, Charles grew up isolated from his parents, the product of, in the words of one friend, “a spectacularly dysfunctional family.” A behind-the-scenes look at his marriage to Princess Diana and his future as the British sovereign are explored on May 2, just days before his official coronation.
