Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is currently scheduled to be the second Dcu title released by DC Studios and we recently learned that Cruella director Craig Gillespie will helm the movie.
Ana Nogueira (The Vampire Diaries) is writing the screenplay - she was also attached to the Supergirl movie starring The Flash's Sasha Calle - and House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock will play the titular hero.
If you've read the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book, you'll know that the series ends with a glimpse into the future and Kara Zor-El sporting a new costume which is less Supergirl and more Superwoman. Now, some new fan art by @jaxsonderr showcases what Alcock's version of the character could look like with that suit in the Dcu.

After delivering the definitive Batman with Batman: The Animated Series, Bruce Timm joined forces with Alan Burnett to give the other member of the World’s Finest a similar treatment. Voiced by Tim Daly, Superman: The Animated Series made its debut in 1996, and is often considered the definitive onscreen portrayal of the character, only next to Christopher Reeve.
But despite its success, Daly wasn’t brought back to voice Clark Kent in Justice League Unlimited, and The Sopranos star had a pretty good idea about why it was the case.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a movie that makes more than $1.6 billion at the box office is probably going to get another franchise entry greenlit very, very quickly. Such is the case with the 2019 "live-action" remake of "The Lion King," which didn't leave much of a pop culture imprint, but certainly had an impact on Disney's quarterly earnings report. Thus, this year will see the release of the prequel movie "Mufasa: The Lion King," which just dropped its first trailer during "Good Morning America."
As the title suggests, "Mufasa" is the story of Simba's father becoming king of the lions, despite being born "without a drop of nobility in his blood." The film was directed by Barry Jenkins, who joked at CinemaCon that this "eight-quadrant tentpole" is quite different from the types of films he's known for, but said that its story was "very personal" to him. It is well known how liberating the animated medium is when it comes to adapting comic-book-oriented storylines, as proven by a significant number of DC’s animated ventures. For an incredibly important story like Crisis on Infinite Earths, an animated adaptation was necessary to translate the scope of the series for a wider audience. Having the adaptation divided into three parts was a good creative decision as well, as with a vast area to cover, dividing the story into segments helps to focus on distinct portions without making things too confusing for the audience. The first part of the Crisis on Infinite Earths movie trilogy was released earlier this year, and the emotional anchor of the story through Barry Allen’s, aka Prime Earth’s Flash’s, life contributed an interesting, comics accurate angle to the adaptation. However, with the recently released second part, it seems the makers have dropped the ball big time,...

In the 90 years since his creation, Superman has had many different versions. There have been many to stand out from these, for good and bad reasons. Perhaps one of the most controversial has to be Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel, which is a darker version of the character. While many fans loved the fresher approach, there were many fundamental changes made that completely went against the character’s philosophy.

Alan Moore is a legend. The comics that he has created have become some of the most significant in DC Studios, having been behind iconic works like Batman: The Killing Joke, Night Olympics, and Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow. He has a reputation for creating works that are the perfect blend of literary genius and mainstream comics.
Justice League Unlimited
Despite all of the iconic works he created, the writer famously hated his works being adapted onto the screen. It did not matter if it was live-action, animation, or retellings; if they were using his comics as source material, he wanted nothing to do with it.

Young Justice has easily become one of the most beloved animated superhero series in recent times. The series has an excellent lineup of characters, all of which feel well-thought-out and have extremely interesting stories. It picked whatever aspects of a character’s back story they wanted, choosing from the several versions and sticking with them. If they were unable to find the correct pieces, they made changes, creating the intricate puzzle that is the series.
Young Justice
The perfect example of a significant change they made to an original story is Martian Manhunter and Mars as a planet. Going from a destroyed planet to a lively civilization on the brink of civil war, the change brought about a lot of interesting elements to the story.

The idea of robots taking control of our world is one that has provided many storylines to multiple franchises over the years. Even major comic franchises like Marvel and DC have also written storylines and characters on these storylines as we have witnessed in many series and movies over the years.

Once in Batman: The Animated Series, a duplicate robot of the Caped Crusader appeared in the series and tried to create more of his kind to take over the world. The episode seemed to resemble the plot of the 1982 science fiction film, Blade Runner.

With enough prep time, Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman is able to withstand any enemy and has the capacity to defeat them. Despite having no superpowers, the caped crusader can stand on his own due to his scientific knowledge and athleticism. He is also considered to be one of the greatest detectives and is a polymath.
Batman has also been trained in multiple martial arts, including ones devised by alien planets. The superhero has also been trained in a deadly art of Klurkor, that originated in Superman’s Krypton. The martial art is reportedly similar to Karate.

Bruce Timm created some of the best DC stories and adaptations in his Dcau. His Batman: The Animated Series is considered the best iteration of the Dark Knight on screen. However, when he co-created Superman: The Animated Series with Alan Burnett, he did not feel that the show received the response it deserved.

Lex Luthor is one of the most celebrated villains of all time. Superman’s arch-nemesis is a genius, billionaire, and one of the most power-hungry characters in the comic-book world. The legendary character was portrayed to perfection by actor Clancy Brown in the Tim Daly starring animated show Superman: The Animated Series.
Bruce Timm’s follow-up to his Batman: The Animated Series was a Superman for a new generation as it became an influential piece of media for many other adaptations. It saw a much more vulnerable Superman, who did not smile or perpetually be optimistic like he was in the comics. However, Superman would have been completely different as Brown reportedly first auditioned for the role of Clark Kent in the show.

Superman has always maintained his iconic look, at least in what fans have seen in movies and television series. He’s always got that perfect hair that does not seem to move out of place even when he’s fighting enemies. Although, there was one time when DC Comics decided to experiment and give him a mullet.
DC Comics’ Superman
Of course, the mullet did not stay forever as it received mixed reactions from fans. Even Bruce Timm did not follow suit in his interpretation of Superman: The Animated Series.

Besides Superman growing up, many would remember another figure who would seldom steal the spotlight, and that’s Supergirl. Although not as popular as Superman, she too has her own legion of fans. Why shouldn’t she? Like Superman, she is also a Kryptonian and is one hell of a fighter. Her popularity in comics later brought her into many mediums to entertain fans, including various DC and Dcau shows. But one, in particular, changed up her identity a bit, more specifically her origin, but why?
Superman: The Animated Series
Who is Supergirl?
Supergirl, also known as Kara Zor-El, is somewhat one of the lesser-known characters in the DC Comics universe, compared to the DC usuals. Although she isn’t as popular as Batman or Superman, her name is still familiar to many.
Starting off as a female counterpart of the Man of Steel, she slowly gained recognition in the comics world.

Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel relaunched the Superman franchise, with Henry Cavill taking on the titular role. It is indeed a favorite of many superhero fans and is also one of the most successful. From the world of anime and manga, there might be only a few other creations by mangakas other than the Late Akira Toriyama that could rival the popularity and craze that the Dragon Ball series has.

THR reports that Warner Bros. is developing a live-action Teen Titans movie and has tapped Ana Nogueira to write the script.

Arguably, the most famous fictional planet is Krypton -- the home of Kal-El, aka Clark Kent, aka Superman. We all know the story (though studios seem to think we don't) of how Krypton was destroyed, and how the sole (kind of) survivor was baby Kal-El. But while Krypton gets all the attention, it's not the only desolated former metropolis in the DC Universe.
Another essential part of the DC mythos is Mars, our red neighbor. In most of the DC continuity, Mars is mostly devoid of life, with all civilizations having been wiped out through war or a plague, leaving only J'onn J'onzz, aka the Martian Manhunter, alive and stranded on Earth. That is not the case with the acclaimed "Young Justice" animated series, which portrays Mars as having a big, advanced, and very active Martian civilization.

Superman’s future looks considerably brighter as James Gunn prepares the new version of the DC Universe. Further, even Jack Quaid’s 2023 animated TV series My Adventures With Superman, featured the superhero as a heartfelt and charming one. To be specific, ever since the end of Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel era, the fan-favorite character has witnessed bright and positive days.
Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell in The Boys
The grim and gritty Superman is now considered a thing of the past. With James Gunn promising to bring a more hopeful Kryptonian, Henry Cavill’s gritty version is now history. However, despite starring as the Last Son of Krypton in the PG-rated 2023 animated TV series, Jack Quaid offered his rare support to Cavill’s grim version of Kal-El. Although he preferred starring as the positive and proactive version, he has nothing against the darker versions of Superman.

Zack Snyder may not be part of the DC verse anymore, but he has given us some of the best Dceu movies of all time. One of these few movies is Justice League. The filming of James Gunn’s new DC universe is underway, and there is already a buzz online as Gunn posts a close-up shot of his new Superman’s emblem. An AI-made picture was even making the rounds, which was debunked by James Gunn himself, that depicts a paparazzi shot of David Corenswet on the set of Superman in full costume, trunks and all. Long before the cameras started rolling, or even before the actors were cast, Gunn had introduced his plans for the newly revamped DC Universe, and in the Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters phase, it would include a film with Superman’s cousin from Krypton, Kara Zor-El, in Supergirl: World of Tomorrow.
Earlier this year, the casting was announced for Gunn’s Superman, known previously as Superman: Legacy, and an announcement was made for House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock getting the role of Kara in the upcoming Supergirl film.

From flying dragons to flying through the air, Milly Alcock has been confirmed as the new Supergirl for James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Universe of films. James Gunn didn’t take long to decide on his new Supergirl as The Wrap reports that House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock is now in talks to take on the role.

Remember way back when Superman first came onto the scene? At the time, he wasn't exactly the ultra-powerful superhero we've all come to know and love. In fact, his most heroic feat on the cover of Action Comics #1 was ... lifting a car. But everything else intrinsic to the All-American Boy Scout was more or less set in place, including being sent away from his alien planet as a baby to avoid its destruction (though it was not named Krypton at the time), his adoption by humanity, and his motivation to use his abilities for the betterment of the world.
Although live-action adaptations of his origin story don't quite measure up to the number of times we've had to sit through either Peter Parker's transformation into Spider-Man or Bruce Wayne's traumatic childhood that gave rise to Batman, there's not a single person with access to the internet who doesn't know how Superman traditionally came to be.

There is a chance the studio could make a straight offer to a star, but all things are pointing toward screen tests for actresses, which will go down within the next month or so, we hear.
Deadline understands that natch, DC Studios co-boss James Gunn is definitely part of the process, as this is a character who likely will make its debut via a cameo in a DC project that isn’t Supergirl. The search is ongoing for a director.

Nicholas Hoult has finally landed a role in a major DC Comics superhero franchise… only it is not as the hero. After famously (and narrowly) missing out on the chance to star as Matt Reeves’ Batman and James Gunn’s Superman, the actor whose work is as varied as Nux in Mad Max: Fury Road and Tsar Peter III in The Great has been cast in the part of Lex Luthor, criminal mastermind of the DC Universe.
On a certain level, this seems overly familiar. Nearly every Superman film to date has featured Lex Luthor as a major character, and certainly every big screen Superman has sooner or later had their Lex. The role has invited big swings from a curious list of performers that include Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and Jesse Eisenberg (and that’s only counting the live-action movies). James Gunn and Peter Safran’s slate of DC movies continues to move forward.
Ana Nogueira, the actress and playwright who is now making forays into screenwriting, has been tapped to pen Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a standalone feature centered on the Kryptonian cousin of Superman being developed by DC Studios.
No director is attached and Nogueira’s deal only recently closed.
The project is actually a redo for Nogueira. The writer was quietly hired to pen a Supergirl movie in 2022 when Warner Bros. was developing the project as a spinoff of The Flash, then in post-production. Flash featured Sasha Calle as the heroine and the hope was to launch another DC film franchise.
Those hopes were seemingly dashed when Gunn and Safran were brought in to oversee a reorganized DC arm. That project was tossed as the new execs focused on creating a brand new slate, separate from former...

Jacob Elordi! He's very tall, very handsome, and very hot right now. The "Euphoria" actor can currently be seen goofin' on Elvis in Sofia Coppola's acclaimed "Priscilla," and he'll next appear in Emerald Fennell's acclaimed "Saltburn." That's a lot of acclaim! But the statuesque performer could've had an even bigger role on the horizon — that of the Man of Steel himself, Superman. In a new interview with GQ, Elordi reveals that at some point, he was asked to audition to play Superman.
He doesn't specify which Superman project he was asked to audition for, but odds are pretty good that he's talking about the new Superman who will appear in James Gunn's "Superman Legacy." David Corenswet, an actor with a very amusing name because every time I see it I read it as "Cornsweat," is playing the part of Krypton's favorite son instead. As for Elordi,...

Writer/director Zach Cregger’s horror film Barbarian (watch it Here) was a financial success when it was released last year, and it also received a lot of positive word-of-mouth. New Line Cinema was so impressed by it, they forked over $38 million to pick up Cregger’s mysterious new horror project, Weapons. (Beating out Jordan Peele and Universal in the bidding war.) New Line then signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, the production company behind Barbarian. They have since set up two other projects, a sci-fi thriller called Companion and a haunted house movie called Occupant, that Cregger will be producing. But while the filmmakers move on to other ideas, Barbarian does still has life in it. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting report that a Barbarian video game is now in the works!

Matthew Vaughn wants to "reboot" 'Star Wars' for a new generation. The 'X-Men: First Class' filmmaker would love to take the reins on a film in the franchise and admitted he loves the idea of taking the series' most familiar characters and creating his own version of the story for a modern audience.Speaking on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, he said: “I would say, for me, doing a 'Star Wars' movie is to play with the characters I loved.“So if they said to me, ‘Do you want to reboot 'Star Wars' and actually have Luke Skywalker, Solo, and Vader, and you do your version of it,’ everyone would say, ‘You’re an idiot to try,’ but that would excite me.“Why not [reboot]? Bond, do you mind Bond? I mean, you asked me who’s going to play the next Wolverine. Why are these ['Star Wars'] characters so hallowed that from...
