Dynamic mother-daughter and best friend duo Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) return in “Ginny & Georgia” Season 2, which gets even more chaotic than the already very complex first season of the Netflix show. Another of Georgia’s past loves enters the mix, she commits some more questionable actions and many other twists and turns develop within the 10 hour-long episodes.
Ginny and her friends are no strangers to the TikTok scene, so some song choices reflect Gen Z’s poppy preferences. The show is also not afraid to explore both the high, happy feelings of life as well as the deeper, darker, lower ones, and it does so sonically with some beautiful choices. Felix Mallard chose a song for an important scene of his, and actress Brianne Howey easily chose a song to embody her character Georgia.

“I came on the film pretty late,” says composer Daniel Pemberton while discussing his work on David O. Russell‘s latest film “Amsterdam.” “They had tried a few things out with music beforehand that hadn’t worked out, which I think is partly due to the film being complex. It’s not a straightforward, generic, formulaic movie. It is a complicated movie with so many different strands in it. I think it was difficult to work out what the score should be.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
“Amsterdam” stars Christian Bale, John David Washington and Margot Robbie as three friends who witness a murder, are framed for it, and uncover one of the most outrageous plots in American history. The large ensemble includes Robert De Niro, Taylor Swift, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rami Malek and many more.

Dozens of musicians, music industry executives, legal experts, and more added their signatures to the “Art on Trial: Protect Black Art” open letter defending creative expression and protesting the use of rap lyrics as a means of criminalizing Black artists. The letter refers to the current incarceration of Atlanta rapper Young Thug – currently being held in Georgia’s Fulton County on Rico charges that cite his song lyrics as evidence of “an overt act in furtherance of the conspiracy” – as a leading example of the damage done by “the racially...

Giveon has released a bittersweet new single, “Time,” via Not So Fast/Epic Records. The crooning song appears on the soundtrack for the upcoming David O. Russell film Amsterdam, which stars Christian Bale, John David Washington, Margo Robbie, and Taylor Swift.
The track was written by Giveon, Drake, and Daniel Pemberton, who also composed the film’s score. Pemberton and Jahaan Sweet produced the emotionally-wrought song.

Exclusive: Deadline can reveal before Sunday’s world premiere of the David O. Russell-directed Amsterdam that the film’s final musical number “Time” was done with help from Drake and platinum recording artist Giveon.
Daniel Pemberton wrote the original score for the film, and he was also inspired to create a song based on his score’s melodic theme. Working with producer Matthew Budman, who believed the film’s empowering message about the bonds of friendship was perfectly suited for a song, they reached out to Budman’s business partner and the film’s executive producer, Drake. He turned to friend and collaborator Giveon to perform the song, which Drake and Jahaan Sweet wrote together and which Pemberton produced.
David O. Russell’s ‘Amsterdam’ Going Earlier In October
The result, “Time,” combines the original score’s main theme with Giveon’s rich, classic vocals, woodwind instrumentation, and a piano track by Sweet.

Few years are as packed for the R&b categories at the Grammys as this one. With releases from some of the top artists in the genre and in music in general, as well as a lot of Grammy darlings back in the mix, it seems like many artists will truly just be lucky to net a nom. Let’s take a look at some of the top contenders this year.
We can’t talk about R&b without first talking about Queen Bey. This year Beyoncé could compete in Best Progressive R&b Album with her newest release, “Renaissance.” The album is acclaimed and will easily be the front-runner if it is submitted in R&b (it might instead be slotted in pop). As for song choices, Beyoncé could go for the groovy “Cuff It” or the urban-leaning “Church Girl” for Best R&b Performance, while “Plastic Off The...

A new venture from Tao Group Hospitality, The Fleur Room, officially opened to the public in West Hollywood in mid-August.
Though the hospitality group is most known for its lavish nightclubs, beach day clubs, and restaurants in major markets like Las Vegas, New York, London, Miami, Dubai, Shanghai, Singapore and, of course, Los Angeles, The Fleur Room marks a distinct pivot away from the noise and strobe lighting that have become the language of nightlife, and instead offers a subtle, more adult cocktail lounge experience.
“We wanted to create a destination that was sophisticated and not nightlife-centric, a place where adults can go and have a drink, socialize a little bit more, be present and a bit more engaged,” Tao Group Hospitality CMO Pavan Pardasani tells The Hollywood Reporter.

You can’t win ’em all. Or in some cases, you can’t win any of ’em. There are 18 music artists who hold the unfortunate distinction of receiving six or more nominations in one year from the Grammys … and then not winning any of them. Scroll down to see the complete list along with every award they didn’t take home that night.
The thing about a historic Grammy shutout is that Recording Academy voters have to love you enough to nominate you that many times, and it’s often just bad luck that blocks you from the winner’s circle. Consider India.Arie. She was a seven-time nominee in 2002 including a sweep of all four general field categories — just over a dozen artists have ever done that. Unfortunately, most of those nominations were against higher-profile R&b breakout Alicia Keys, who beat Arie five times while U2 (“Walk On...

After seven Grammy nominations without a full-length album, Giveon has finally released his debut, Give or Take. Over 16 tracks, the singer delivers some of his most personal ballads to date, with help from top-flight producers like Bo-1da, Jahaan Sweet, Sevyn Thomas and Leon Thomas. It was just the album he wanted to make — a place to say everything he wanted to say.
“Every time I am making a song or writing a story, at the moment, I don’t have the intention of where that will be placed,” he says.

2022 has been a somewhat slow year for new artists so far. While last year we got breakthroughs from acts like The Kid Laroi, Olivia Rodrigo, and Baby Keem, this year has mostly been distinguished by comebacks from big artists like Adele, Harry Styles, and Kendrick Lamar. So with a less obvious slate of top contenders this year, the race for the 2023 Best New Artist Grammy is wide open.
The presumed front-runner right now might be Latto. Her single “Big Energy” has proven to be a smash hit, peaking inside the top-three of the Billboard Hot 100. Latto has also been around for a while now, lurking under the radar with a few mixtapes and EPs, and is now catching her big mainstream break into the pop-sphere. And despite the Grammys’ frequent bias against hip-hop, rappers have taken this award a few times already. Most recently, Megan Thee Stallion won in 2021, a...

For host Sean “Diddy” Combs, the 2022 Billboard Music Awards were all about “un-canceling the canceled,” hence the decision to put Morgan Wallen on stage for a dual performance of his new singles.
“The mood of the show is about love and forgiveness,” Diddy told Billboard in a pre-show interview. “As a musical family, none of us are saints; none of us are without things that happen to them in life. So one of the things I’m doing directly is un-canceling the canceled. That’s breaking news because people haven’t been about uncanceling. But canceling is a trend that needs to stop.

The Billboard Music Awards are on May 15, honoring the most successful music for the past 12 months based on their chart performance. While many default their predictions to whatever topped Billboard’s Year-End charts, it’s important to remember that the BBMAs eligibility period ended on March 26, 2022, which was several months after 2021’s Year-End charts were calculated, making space for some upsets. Let’s take a look at the biggest contenders for this year’s ceremony in R&b categories.

Update (4/6): The Weeknd is headed to Coachella. The pop star shared a new poster for the upcoming festival showing that he and Swedish House Mafia will replace Kanye West as the headliner for the third night. While Swedish House Mafia were already slated to perform at this year’s fest, the addition of the Weeknd is new.
It’s unclear exactly how the co-headlining performance will pan out, though the two artists have collaborated on a handful of tracks recently, including two songs on the Weeknd’s LP Dawn FM,...

Justin Bieber sure delivered an unforgettable performance at Sunday night's Grammys, though we're not entirely sure what he was singing about. The singer intended on a slowed-down rendition of "Peaches," his hit song with Daniel Caeser and Giveon. But because he decided against a clean version, viewers at home watched a staging filled with awkward pauses and practically only half of the original lyrics.
Now, the track itself isn't necessarily explicit - it's about how much Bieber loves his wife, Hailey, after all - but "badass b*tch" and "sh*t" do come after every line in the chorus. Perhaps the musician forgot he'd be censored or he simply couldn't be bothered to nix the curse words? Or maybe he wanted to incite chaos to get back at the Grammys for his numerous snubs.
Regardless, Grammys censors struggled to keep up and ultimately bleeped perfectly...

The 2022 Grammy Awards broadcast wrapped up with an upset victory of sorts, with Jon Batiste beating out the likes of Taylor Swift and Kanye west to take home Album of the Year for his excellent “We Are.”
That was his fifth win of the night, following four wins during the “Premiere Ceremony,” where all of the awards not deemed cool enough for television were handed out, hosted by the always wonderful Levar Burton.
Batiste also accomplished a rather ignominious milestone for the Grammy Awards themselves: He’s the first Black artist to win Album of the Year since Herbie Hancock back in 2008. You read that right: It’s literally been 14 years and 3 presidents since the Academy recognized the work of Black artists with this honor. And in case you’re wondering, the only nonwhite artist to win Best Album during that time was Bruno Mars in 2018.
Speaking of Mars, Batiste...

The Grammy Awards took place on Sunday night, April 3, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, but it took a while to get to the main event. Originally scheduled for January, the ceremony was pushed back more than two months as the result of the winter surge of Covid-19 cases due to the omicron variant. So who took home prizes when they were finally handed out? Scroll down for the complete list in all 86 categories from Record of the Year all the way down to Best Music Film.
These awards honor the best recording achievements released during the eligibility period of September 2020 through September 2021, and for the first time in more than two decades the nominations were decided in almost all categories by Recording Academy members without anonymous, controversial nomination review committees acting as unaccountable intermediaries to make the final judgments. The result was a list led...
