Disney and Pixar are primed to debut their new animation The Good Dinosaur next month and with it, we can expect a short film to accompany the new release. After wowing audiences with a poignant love tale between two volcanoes prior to Inside Out, it’s Sanjay’s Super Team that will preface the launch of the studio’s prehistoric yarn, and today we have our first concept art depicting the titular character and his superhero dream team.
Featuring an idea birthed by Pixar employee Sanjay Patel, the animated short has been billed as a deeply personal story about a young boy caught between his father’s reverence for Hinduism and his own love of western culture and, in particular, superheroes. So, what deities will be making up the team? As revealed in today’s artwork, Sanjay’s Super Team will revolve around Hanuman, Durga and...

Pixar's definitely on a roll this year, and Sanjay's "Super Team" (playing in front of "The Good Dinosaur" on Nov. 25) ) is very special and particularly Oscar worthy. It's Pixar's first semi-autobiographical short in which board artist Sanjay Patel ("Toy Story 2," "Monsters, Inc.," "The Incredibles") comes to terms with his Hindu heritage, which he was ashamed of as a child growing up in San Bernardino. The little boy tries to watch his favorite superhero cartoon but his father insists that he mediate with him. Bored, he imagines summoning three Hindu deities to fight a three-headed demon in a thematic and stylistic assimilation of West and East (assisted by a lovely score by Mychael Danna, Oscar winner for "Life of Pi"). He has brought us some of the most thought-provoking films of Hindi cinema including Kurbaan, Rang De Basanti, Student Of The Year and the Indian version of award-winning Us TV show 24. Now Rensil D’Silva brings us Ungli, which captures the current mood in India of curbing corruption, bribery and intimidation in the upper echelons of power and authority. Starring Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda, Neil Bhoopalam, Angad Bedi and Sanjay Dutt, Ungli is a beautifully acted and directed narrative that conveys in an effective and humorous manner how five ordinary citizens can make a difference in a city blighted by dark forces, as they literally give the proverbial ‘finger’ to the corrupt and dishonest.
The director recently talked about Ungli and he revealed his feeling and the challenges that he faced with Sanjay Dutt and his then imminent incarceration.
How would you describe Ungli?

He shot to limelight after delivering two huge money-spinners in the form of Dhoom and Dhoom 2, only to stumble on a roadblock called Kidnap. Though Sanjay Gadhvi was in a brief oblivion after that, he has now returned to making films with Ajab Gazabb Love. Now if reports trickling in from the sets of the film are any indication, Gadhvi has returned to vintage form with this love story that takes him back to his roots of romantic entertainers like Mere Yaare Ki Shaadi Hai and Tere Liye. "He is someone who understands commercial cinema and is quite a pro in his work. I have worked with some new directors in the last two-three years but looking at him, I can say that he can be left entirely on his own to do the job", says producer Vashu Bhagnani who roped in new filmmakers for his son Jackky's launch pad...

Producer Vashu Bhagnani's son Jackky has been struggling to get a project together ever since F.A.L.T.U became a freak hit. So far, no luck. First the F.A.L.T.U director Remo D'Souza begged off a sequel. More recently, Raj Kumar Santoshi was all set to direct Jackky in a rom-com. But the paucity of a topnotch heroine who was willing to co-star with Jackky, aborted the Santoshi project.
Now it's the Dhoom director Sanjay Gadhvi whose career has been under a pall of gloom, who has taken on the task of directing Jackky. Gadhvi is all set to make a rom-com with Jackky, where the comedy element will be very high.
Says a close friend of Gadhvi, "Sanjay has been sorting out his life and career ever since Kidnap bombed and a major production house went legal on him over money matters. Now he is ready to direct again. Sanjay empathizes with Jackky.

When it was announced that Sanjay Dutt would do a cameo in Srk’s Ra.One, many film fans rejoiced, as this will (apart from Sanju’s really short appearance in Om Shanti Om‘s Deewangi Song) actually be the first time for Sanju and Shah Rukh to share screen space. Proceeding from this fact, we were thinking about other actors who never worked together yet in a Hindi film, but whom we very much would love to see together on screen.

His films may not have taken Box Office by storm due to various reasons but Onir is still seen smiling. Garnering immense goodwill since the days of My Brother Nikhil and following it up with Bas Ek Pal and Sorry Bhai, he is seeing good help coming from his friends and colleagues from Bollywood, who are willing to extend a helping hand as he puts together his short films in place. The latest happening is that composers like Pritam, Mithoon and Vivek Philip, with whom he has worked in his earlier movies, have consented to compose for his five short films. Though Onir is reluctant to divulge much about the remuneration involved (or the lack of it), he is ecstatic about the very fact that they were all there for him when he needed them the most. After having successfully convinced audiences with their sizzling romance in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa Akbar, Aishwarya and Hrithik have been cast together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has dedicated this film to the living legend Lata Mangeshkar. After having made so many musicals and also having composed a song in Saawaria, Sanjay has now turned a complete composer.
When asked about the choice of actors he said these two epitomize the spiritual and physical beauty of Lataji’s voice. Well, it is not so common to associate then with Lataji’s voice as yet, but there is no doubt that Hrithik and Aishwarya are always a delight to watch on screen for their beauty and chemistry.
