One of the easiest ways to measure someone’s success is to count all the pop culture references that others make to them. In the case of Stephen King, they would probably hit a three-digit number, considering how many TV shows, movies, and other novel authors have been using King’s plots as an inspiration.
If you are interested to see 10 of the most popular TV shows that referred to King one way or the other, check out the list below.
Lost (2004-2010)
Heavily influenced by King's writing, Lost had no shortage of references and easter eggs to the author within the show. The most obvious are season 3 Juliet's choice of Carrie as a book club entry, and the future version of Jack reading a newspaper clipping with words like "Ted," "the Tower," and "beam" in it, all references to Stephen King's The Dark Tower.
Derry Girls (2018-2022)

The actor on her path to her debut starring movie role in The First Omen.
Nell Tiger Free became an actor to exorcise her energy. “I was driving my mother insane,” the English actor explains from her flat in South London. “I had way too much energy as an 11-year- old. So she took me to a Saturday club where I could run around and sing and dance and act.”
Twenty-four-year-old Free has directed all that energy into dark-natured, suspenseful projects, from working with directors like Nicolas Winding Refn on Too Old To Die Young and M. Night Shyamalan on Servant to her first starring film role in The First Omen, the prequel to Richard Donner’s 1976 classic. “There’s the wiggle room to have the most fun on projects like that,” she says of her tense, terrifying body of work. “You really send yourself into ridiculous situations; situations you...

The young and talented cast of Glee featured some of the brightest rising stars on the scene when the musical series debuted in 2009.
They perfectly embodied the plucky underdogs who won hearts with their musical abilities and tight bond. However, the lineup of the New Directions could have looked very different. In the years since Glee debuted, we’ve learned that a slew of actors auditioned for the show and didn’t get cast.
Some cast members even auditioned for different parts before they were placed in the perfect role.
For instance, many actors who eventually joined the show did so after auditioning to play football star turned choir champion Finn Hudson, a role that ultimately went to Cory Monteith. Several popular actresses also auditioned to play the big-voiced Rachel Berry before Lea Michele was cast.

Lea Michele‘s son, Ever, is back in the hospital again following an ongoing battle with what the Broadway star called “a scary health issue.” Michele took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, where she updated fans on this difficult time in her family’s life.
“Today was a hard day. As parents, we have to be strong for our kids,” Michele, who shares the 2-year-old with husband Zandy Reich, began. “But sometimes you just want to break down and cry (Hidden in the bathroom or closest is usually best. Today I chose the hospital bathroom).”
Sharing a photo of Ever, whose face was covered by a white heart emoji, in his crib, the 36-year-old Glee alum said these hard times have shown her what is truly important in life.

Puns grow knee-high – and in bawdier moments a bit higher – in Shucked, the new musical comedy that combines the winking hayseed humor of Green Acres and Hee Haw with the decidedly urban, gently subversive camp that peppered the Off Broadway scene in the ’90s with kitschy fare like Ruthless!, The Real Live Brady Bunch and Theatre-a-Go!-Go!’s Valley of the Dolls parody.
The musical comes by its unlikely spiritual DNA honestly, or however it can, through the combined and disparate talents of book writer Robert Horn and composers Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally.
Consider that pedigree for a moment: Horn won a Tony for 2019’s Tootsie, and has written for Dame Edna, Designing Women, Bette Midler and RuPaul. Clark and McAnally have stacked up a big barnful of CMA Awards, Grammys and country music hits. Together this trio is a match made in some bizarro Broadway cornfield of dreams,...

Long before BTS and One Direction, one of the biggest pop bands in the world was a 7-piece group from the UK whose sole purpose was to get the party started. S Club 7 formed in 1998 and went on to achieve huge success, in part due to a hit TV show, quintessential Y2K outfits, and catchy pop anthems, which have gone on to become karaoke staples to this day.
