After graduation from California State University, Long Beach, he accepted a position in the feature film department with Rogers & Cowan, LLC, working on a number of films including True Romance, A Bronx Tale, Robocop II, The Mask and the fifth installment of the Friday the 13th film series. Desiring a pivot to a more hands on career in creating and producing content, he left publicity behind and took a job working for Aaron Spelling. Beginning as a Production Assistant, he worked his way up the ladder on eight different Spelling Television series over the course of a dozen years to Executive Producer by the time the company shuttered in the wake of Spelling's death. He then worked on series for ABC Family and Showtime Networks, and produced a feature film starring Ed Harris and Taraji P. Henson before ultimately developing a series with MTV. But eventually he once again decided to change gears and make another pivot to something yet even more hands on, the world of documentary filmmaking. Drawn in by the grit and tragedy of what was at the time a fledgling world of true crime documentary series, the decision quickly paid off when that market exploded in response to the release of the Serial podcast. Twenty-four true crime series and one Emmy nomination later, he continues his work in this genre.
