Erica Rupp was born in 1985 to Michael Thomas Rupp, a College Professor
and Valerie Anne Rupp, a writer. She has one older sister, Ash Rupp who
is currently finishing her doctorate of psychology. She spent the first
14 of her years in the Midwest primarily in West Lafayette, Indiana.
The summer of her 8th grade year, her parents moved to Glendale, Arizona. Erica started school in the Fall and was expelled just five months later. During her expulsion she watched up to five movies a day, and became fascinated with visual mediums such as music videos and experimental films.
After she completed high school Erica mindlessly skipped around to several different community colleges, taking each semester less seriously than the last. The summer before Erica turned 20 her car air conditioner broke, and the Arizona weather had climbed well past 110 degrees. She dropped out of whatever community college she was enrolled in at the time, and packed all her stuff in the back of her beat up Corolla and drove West to Los Angeles. California in hopes to be a big time Hollywood director.
Erica went on to win the first Youtube Music Video contest by making a stop motion video for the band, Pretty Girls Make Graves with her boyfriend, Joseph Ging. They traveled to New York City to meet the band, and won $1000.
After completing two more years at Santa Monica College Erica was accepted to the Film Production program at The University of Southern California and graduated in 2011.
