Over the years, Lady Gaga has become one of the biggest pop stars in the world. She's also made her mark on film, makeup, fashion, and activism - but there was a time when she was just an up-and-coming musician living in NYC.
Of course, she wasn't raised with the name Lady Gaga, but the moniker symbolizes a lot of her lifelong values when it comes to performance, such as authenticity and free self-expression. "I've always been Gaga," she told Rolling Stone in 2009. "I suppressed all those eccentricities about myself so I could fit in. Once I was free, I was able to be myself."
During an interview with Elle in 2013, Gaga explained that she uses the stage name to separate her private self from her public persona. "I am - Stefani is - a perpetually tortured artist," she explained. "That's why I changed my name. I can't be her in public.

They’re one of the most unlikely pairs in musical history, and yet Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have been selling albums and selling out shows like crazy as of late.
On Thursday (February 5) the “Just Dance” diva and the legendary crooner gathered at the Staples Center in Los Angeles to rehearse for their upcoming performance at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards this weekend.
Meanwhile, Gaga’s first talent scout Wendy Starland just won her lawsuit against Mother Monster’s former producer/boyfriend Rob Fusari and has been awarded $7.3 million for discovering Lady Gaga back in 2006. Starland told the court that Fusari asked her to find an “edgy, bold, confident, charismatic performer- someone that you can’t take your eyes off of,” and when she nabbed Gaga he ignored their 50/50 business arrangement.

All sorts of interesting (read: juicy) details about Lady Gaga’s private life have been coming out in the past few days, and we lawsuits to thank for it. Last week we discovered that Mother Monster requires a mannequin with “puffy pink pubic hair” in her dressing room in order to feel truly at home, and now a court document reveals yet another quirk: She would have sex with her boyfriend on the recording studio floor.
Wow, that sure is surprising! Ok, actually maybe it’s not that surprising at all. In fact, it seems exactly like the kind of glam rock ‘n’ roll shenanigans Gags would get up to. But it definitely makes us rethink the meaning of “Heavy Metal Lover”!
The allegations come from from the recently filed October 2011 deposition of the awesomely named Wendy Starland, who’s in the midst of a lawsuit against Gaga’s former...
