David Barclay Moore is an award-winning filmmaker and Coretta Scott King / John Steptoe Award-winning author. He is the screenwriter and executive producer of the forthcoming film, "The Stars Beneath Our Feet," adapted from his own novel and to be directed by actor/director Michael B. Jordan. David was born and raised in Missouri, about ten miles from Ferguson, and studied on scholarship at Iowa State University, Howard University and L'Universite de Montpellier in France.
DBM's award-winning documentary film "Realness" was selected for screenings at NewFest in New York City, the Director's Guild of America in Los Angeles during Outfest, the Translations: Seattle Transgender Film Festival and other film festivals around the world. He is a Yaddo Filmmaker in Screenwriting, a semi-finalist for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab, an ITVS Queer X-Change workshop invitee, a Screenwriting & Narrative honoree for the ITVS Independent Feature Project / Project Involve program and a grantee for the Film/Video Arts Artists Mentor Program.
He has received film grants from the Ford Foundation, the Jerome Foundation and the Wellspring Foundation. Over the years, DBM has worked in different creative and production capacities with: Sony StudiOne, Barbra Streisand's Barwood Films, radical.media and Harlem Children's Zone, among others.
