Zac Markey
I started pursuing storytelling as an adolescent, using my parents old VHS camcorder and dual-deck VCR to create movies and mockumentaries with my friends. I continued the path as a teenager by writing and recording music with bands. I poured my heart out that way for over a decade and into adulthood, performing constantly, recording and designing albums, and storyboarding and animating my own music videos.
Storytelling took a different form in college as I studied journalism, with a focus on media production. Here I learned the mechanics of real-life storytelling and formalized my editing skills. I completed my internship at a local television station and began my editing career, where I've helped stories come to life within tight deadlines and at rapid paces. I feel most comfortable in such environments - on creative teams who push themselves and one another, all working towards a shared goal of moving people.
