Film London has announced the 12 entries shortlisted for Microwave - the scheme to help emerging filmmakers from the capital with their first projects.

Today’s film is the 2011 short Sergeant Slaughter, My Big Brother. The film is written by Douglas Ray, from an idea by Greg Williams, who also directs the short. It stars Gillian Bevan, Ben Macleod, and Tom Hardy . Hardy’s first big screen appearance was in the 2001 film Black Hawk Down, and he has subsequently been seen in films such as Layer Cake, Bronson, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and The Dark Knight Rises. His newest feature, titled The Drop, opened in wide release in American theatres this weekend.
