One wouldn’t think that a schlocky slasher series about killer puppets would produce more than a dozen films across three decades, let alone sequels that are still being discussed today, yet here we are getting deep in the weeds over the straight-to-video sequel bliss that is Puppet Master 4. Puppet Master is easily the most successful property to come out of Charles Band’s Full Moon Features, best known for movies like Castle Freak and Subspecies, as well as more low-hanging fruit like The Gingerdead Man and The Evil Bong series. Puppet Master falls comfortably between these two extremes. After a satisfying initial trilogy that chronicles the grandiose revenge scheme of a persecuted toymaker, Puppet Master–like many long-running horror series–is forced to ask, “What’s next?”
In Puppet Master’s case, the franchise strangely pivots towards the rehabilitation of Blade, Leech Woman, Six-Shooter, and the rest of these...

You must have surely heard about vampires, but have you got any idea what a ‘Dampyr’ is? I certainly had no clue that characters like Blade belonged to the Dampyr category. Riccardo Chemello, the director of the 2022 film Dampyr has tried to bring the legendary creature into popular culture with vigor, and his effort doesn’t entirely miss the mark. The film is a story about Harlan Draka, who doesn’t know that his birth is the result of the union between a vampire and a human. In the Balkans, war is raging, and when the army is attacked by a bunch of vampires, Commander Kurjack brings in Harlan to see if he is a dampyr, a vampire hunter.
Spoilers Ahead
Plot Synopsis: What Happens In The Film?
Many moons ago, a woman gave birth to Harlan after she had been impregnated by a ‘Master of the Night’ named Draka.

Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this episode…
Match #1: Nxt Heritage Cup – Noam Dar vs. Chad Gable The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Nxt Heritage Cup remains with Noam Dar and The Meta-Four, but not without some controversy. After a scoreless round one, Dar stole round two thanks to a sneaky kick from Oro Mensah and a subsequent Nova Roller. Gable knotted the contest up at one apiece thanks to a rolling German suplex in round five. In the waning moments of round six, Gable locked in an Ankle Lock, but Dar tapped out just after the bell rang, ensuring that the Heritage Cup wouldn’t change hands.
My Score: 3 out of 5 Match #2: Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo def. Malik Blade & Edris Enofé The following is courtesy of wwe.

Grindhouse is one of the most influential box office failures of the 21st century. Despite grossing a paltry $25.4 million at the box office on a budget of around $60 million, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 love letter to exploitation cinema has managed to spawn four spin-off movies — Machete, Machete Kills, Hobo with a Shotgun, and now Thanksgiving— in addition to reintroducing a vintage aesthetic that has been mimicked by countless other throwback movies.
Rodriguez’s Planet Terror and Tarantino’s Death Proof each have their merits — the former plays like a satirical pastiche of nonstop action, while the latter is more indicative of genuine exploitation fare — but Grindhouse is more than just a double feature. It’s an experience, complete with faux aging to recreate the look of beat-up film prints along with vintage interstitials and retro-inspired trailers for nonexistent movies.

Be there when it happens! So declared the final trailer for The Marvels, a 90-second spot that contains almost as many images of past MCU glories as it does shots from the actual movie it claims to promote. The trailer only slightly tips its hand toward the one thing that could be deemed universe-altering, a mid-credit sequence in which Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) awakens in another universe, tended to by a variant of her mother Maria, now in the Binary persona, and Dr. Henry McCoy aka Beast (Kelsey Grammer) of the X-Men.
The X-Men have been a long time coming to the MCU—ever since Disney bought 20th Century Fox, which among other things brought the X-Men characters back under the Marvel umbrella after the film rights had been licensed to Fox in the 1990s. And yet, every onscreen hint and...

The release date for Marvel’s upcoming Blade reboot has shifted several times already – at one point, it was scheduled to release in 2024 – and we’ve got another new date today.
Most recently slated for release on February 14, 2025, Blade will now daywalk into movie theaters on November 7, 2025. It’ll be the first time the vampire-slaying Marvel Comics character has been seen on the big screen since Blade: Trinity, released back in 2004.
Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) will sit in the director’s chair for Blade’s big screen return in late 2025. Mahershala Ali is starring alongside Mia Goth (X, Pearl).
According to Demange, the upcoming movie will definitely be rated “R.”
Michael Starrbury (When They See Us) wrote the most recent draft of the screenplay, and we recently learned that Nic Pizzolatto (“True Detective”) is now working on the script.

Deadpool 3 was in the midst of production when the SAG-AFTRA strike forced filming to come to a halt, but now that a deal has been reached, the Merc with a Mouth will soon be getting back to work. Now that Ryan Reynolds is able to promote Deadpool 3, the actor took to X/Twitter to drop a look at Dogpool with his very own Deadpool costume.
As for those new release dates, Marvel Studios announced that Deadpool 3 will now open on July 26, 2024 instead of May 3, 2024. That July date was previously held by Captain America: Brave New World , which has moved to February 14, 2025. Thunderbolts has moved from December 20, 2024 to July 25, 2025. Blade has also shifted, moving from February 14, 2025 to November 7, 2025.

It’s been two years since the release of the live action Mortal Kombat reboot, and a sequel is on the way soon. Filming on Mortal Kombat 2 actually kicked off earlier this summer, you may recall, but it didn’t last long due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes going on at the time. But have no fear, because production on the movie sequel gets back underway real soon.
Responding to a report this week that suggested Mortal Kombat 2 will begin filming in early 2024, producer Todd Garner notes on Twitter that it’s actually kicking off even sooner.
“This is not true. We are filming before then,” Garner teases.
He writes in a follow-up tweet, “I promise I will keep the Mk Kommunity posted as soon as I have info on start date, etc. Everyone else is just speculating… or posting for clicks.”

Lion-Girl was written and directed by Kurando Mitsutake based on characters created by famed manga author and artist Go-Nagai who also created Devilman, Cutie Honey and Mazinger Z among others and produced by Toei Video. If that sounds like a recipe for a whole lot of weirdness, then you’re right.
The film opens in a Tokyo bathhouse with several nude people staring at a young woman named Botan. After, she refuses to be scared by their threats, they begin to transform. They sprout horns and fangs, their faces become brightly coloured kabuki masks as they snarl in anger. A glowing tattoo appears on her back as she turns to face them.

Marvel Studios’ ‘Blade’ has been both highly anticipated and notably problematic, making it a standout among recent projects we’ve covered. Rumors about the movie’s development initially surfaced in 2016, but it wasn’t until 2022 that production finally commenced, marking the beginning of the project’s challenges. Bassam Tariq, the original director, stepped down due to shifts in the film’s production schedule. Following Tariq’s departure, production came to a complete halt, leaving the movie in limbo, with a scheduled release date set for September 2024—an initial deadline that has since passed.
About a year ago, Yann Demange took the reins as the new director, with Michael Starrbury collaborating on a revised script. Mahershala Ali, the actor slated for the main titular role, held a genuine passion for the ‘Blade’ project. The announcement of another production shutdown, this time due to the Writers Guild of America Strike, wasn’t surprising,...

Marvel Studio’s ‘Blade’ has been one of the most anticipated and most troubling projects that we’ve covered in recent times. Rumors about the movie being developed resurfaced back in 2016, but it wasn’t until 2022 that the movie went into production, and this is where the trouble truly started. Bassam Tariq had stepped down as the director of the film due to shifts in the film’s production schedule.
Then, the production was shut down completely, and the movie remained in limbo as its release date was scheduled for September 2024, an initial release date that we’ve surpassed up at this point. There’s a Blade reboot in the works at Marvel Studios that will see the vampire hunter get worked into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there has been some concern that this version of Blade will be watered down in comparison to the R-rated Blade films we got from New Line Cinema a couple decades ago. But during a conversation with Deadline, director Yann Demange assured fans that we don’t have to worry about seeing a PG-13 Blade movie. Like the upcoming MCU film Deadpool 3, the Blade reboot is going to be rated R!
Mahershala Ali is taking on the title role in this reboot, and when Blade came up in his Deadline interview Demange said, “They gave me the R, which is so important. … We are going to have fun, because Mahershala is such a deep actor. It’s no secret that Marvel’s Blade reboot has been enduring all kinds of behind the scenes issues, with the approach clearly changing and evolving as different filmmakers come and go. At this time, the film is still dated for release on February 14, 2025, with director Yann Demange (“Lovecraft Country”) currently attached to bring Blade back to the big screen.
Marvel’s Blade reboot is part of the latest phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali is starring alongside Mia Goth (X, Pearl).
According to Demange in a new chat with Deadline, he’s been given an “R” rating to bring the iconic blood-sucker back to life in the ruthless fashion that Blade deserves.

Comic book fans in the late 1990s likely recall the ambitious plan by Artisan Entertainment, a then-rising indie film studio, to make a long series of mid-budget films based on Marvel superheroes. Avi Arad, then the CEO of Marvel Entertainment, had overseen a deal that would allow Artisan to make movies with Black Panther, Thor, Deadpool, Ant-Man, Iron Fist, and Morbius, as well as Power Pack, Longshot, and an irreverent dark comedy about Mort the Dead Teenager. The deal was finalized in 2000. In 2003, however, Artisan was acquired by Lionsgate, effectively ending what would have been the ambitiously planned early-2000s mid-budget version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Despite how successful Disney's MCU would become a decade later, Marvel was once considered a non-viable source of film revenue. Indeed, while comic book sales were up across the board in the 1990s, Marvel was struggling to make their characters more visible in the marketplace.

The road to rebooting Marvel’s iconic “Blade” hasn’t been smooth. What we know now paints a complex picture of a film caught in the whirlwind of changes.
Mahershala Ali, a two-time Oscar winner, was tapped to breathe life into the title character. A lot was riding on him, especially with the success he’s enjoyed. But, according to Variety, the original plan for the movie took a surprising turn. At one stage, instead of Blade leading the story, he was pushed to a secondary role.
Variety’s Tatiana Siegel reported that the story once became women-centric, full of life lessons. It was quite the departure from what fans expected.
Marvel’s new comic series, ‘Bloodline: Daughter of Blade,’ added fuel to the fire. Fans began to speculate that maybe the movie would focus on this new character. But the twists and turns didn’t end there.

Mahershala Ali, the Oscar-winning actor who is set to play the iconic vampire hunter Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was reportedly ready to leave the project due to creative differences with the studio. According to a recent article from Variety1, Ali was unhappy with the direction of the script, which had Blade as a secondary character in his own movie.
The article claims that one of the early drafts of the script, written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Nic Pizzolatto, had Blade as the fourth lead of the film, behind three new characters who were supposed to be his allies. The script also featured a villain who was a former lover of Blade’s mother, and a plot that involved a cult of vampires trying to resurrect Dracula.

Four years have passed since Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced that Blade was being rebooted as a Marvel Cinematic Universe project starring Mahershala Ali in the lead role… and it seems like the development of Blade has been causing headaches behind the scenes ever since that announcement was made. The project has passed through the hands of multiple screenwriters – Stacy Osei-Kuffour (PEN15), Michael Starrbury (When They See Us), True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, Beau DeMayo (The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf). It had a director in Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli). Tariq cast Delroy Lindo (Get Shorty) and Aaron Pierre (Old) alongside Ali – then he dropped out due to “scheduling issues”, and the character Pierre would have been playing was apparently written out of the story. Yann Demange (White Boy Rick) signed on to direct the film. Mia Goth (Pearl) was cast, possibly as the villain Lilith. Blade was just...

Marvel has apparently been having a very, very hard time rebooting Blade into the MCU, which is kind of strange when you think about it. I mean, how hard is it to crack Blade? The character is pretty simple! He looks cool, he has cool weapons, and he kills vampires. That's it, really. It's not that complicated. And yet, Kevin Feige and company continue to struggle with the project, which is set to star Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali in the lead role of the Daywalker. The project, along with Ali's casting, was first announced in 2019, and it's apparently been all downhill since then.

This month’s installment of Deep Cuts Rising features a variety of horror movies, with some selections reflecting a specific day or event in November, and others chosen at random.
Regardless of how they came to be here, or what they’re about, these past movies can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.
This month’s offerings feature Dracula, a giant zombie poodle, a golem, and more.

For World Television Day (November 21), Dracula followers as well as Marvel fans might get a kick out of the 1980 animated TV-movie based on the serialized comic series The Tomb of Dracula. Between 1972 and 1979, the iconic Count Dracula was reworked into a master antagonist who was routinely opposed by a team of vampire slayers. The same series also contains the introduction of popular Marvel character Blade.

MCU has quite a bit of projects lined up for the next several few phases. Most of the productions have been difficult in the last half a year or so due to the ongoing strikes that affected not only the superhero adaptations industry but the industry as a whole. In recent months, some of the projects were rumored to be canceled, such as ‘Wonder Man,’ and earlier today, a box office analyst EmpireCity Box Office, came out with a statement that Marvel Studios is not continuing its work on ‘Thunderbolts’ and that the highly-anticipated ‘Blade’ movie is in jeopardy of being canceled as well.
Hearing that @Disney and @MarvelStudios are not moving forward with #Thunderbolts once the strike is over this week. Also hear that #Blade is in serious jeopardy as well.

If there's a constant with cinematic sci-fi franchises, it's this: costume changes between movies allow for more toy designs, and thus sales. If there's a constant for sci-fi movies based on comics, it's that costumes will nearly always get a "more cinematic" redesign. Sometimes, that aligns with what the public wants, like Michael Keaton's 1989 Batsuit, which allayed fears that a less-muscular actor could play an intimidating superhero. Other times, it seems so out of left-field that we wonder what all involved were thinking.
This list encompasses many of these, and more. Whether they be alterations made in adaptation, in between sequels, or as supposed upgrades, the costume changes that follow are those which have engendered the most debate among sci-fi film fans. Sometimes, the debate clearly landed in favor of the initial skepticism. Other times, the changes actually worked for the specific story being told. Either way, as more generations continue to discover these titles,...

When it comes to comics, superheroes are inexplicably linked to monsters. Horror comics existed before the superhero boom launched with Action Comics #1 (1938), and continued going strong after the caped crowd flopped following World War II. When Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, and Stan Lee launched the Marvel Universe in the early 60s, they did so tentatively, keeping Spider-Man, Hulk, and the Fantastic Four close to the sci-fi and monster comics they made throughout the fifties.
As unlikely as the pairing may seem, superheroes and monsters make for a peanut butter and chocolate combination. Not only do monsters provide the overpowered villains required for superhero fights, as the current Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong demonstrates, but they also give characters like Spider-Man and Batman a chance to show off their heroism in the darkest of times.
So if you’re looking for some spooky superhero stories for your Halloween season, these 13 comics will do the trick.

Watch out! This post contains spoilers.
At the end of "What We Do in the Shadows" season four, Guillermo (Harvey Guillén) makes the drastic decision to ask Derek (Chris Sandiford) to turn him into a vampire. Fed up after years of his master, Nandor (Kayvan Novak), ignoring his pleas, he decides to get it done himself.
But at the beginning of the show's fifth season - which premiered in July - we find out Guillermo's turning didn't work. Or it did work, but only a little bit. At the start of the season, it's been 16 days and the typical vampire powers haven't fully come in for him, which is highly irregular. Guillermo can still eat food (though he does crave very rare meat) and go out in the sun. He can't, however, turn into a vampire bat and fly away.
Over the course of the season, we ultimately find out why Guillermo's transformation didn't work.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge character Jesse has been recreated as a Bull Airs shoe
A couple weeks ago, the shoe company Bull Airs revealed that they had created a shoe that was designed to look like the Blade character from the Puppet Master franchise. (You can take a look at that shoe Here.) Now they have unveiled a new collection of items that are inspired by the Jesse character from A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (watch it Here)! This includes the button-up shirt Jesse was wearing during his famous bedroom dance scene, a Freddy-slashed recreation of the hat he wears in the same scene, and… best of all… a shoe that is designed to look like Jesse in that scene, featuring a mixture of his shirt, his jeans, and Freddy’s sweater. Images of the shoe can be seen at the bottom of this article, and more can be found on the Bull Airs website.

I have been a fan of Charles Band‘s company Full Moon since I was a kid, and the Puppet Master franchise ranks as one of my favorites – but I can’t say I have ever looked at the puppet characters in these films and wondered what it would be like if their looks were transformed into a shoe. But that’s exactly what the folks at the shoe company Bull Airs have been thinking. They have announced that a shoe inspired by the look of iconic puppet Blade will be going on sale at noon (Eastern time) on Friday, October 6th!
The Blade shoe will have a limited run of 250 and will sell for the price of $350.
Sizes: Mens US 4-15
Youth Sizes: Youth 1-3
Comes in Puppet Master-themed Collector’s Box, hand numbered. A select number will be signed by Charles Band.
