The legal battle between Dr. Luke and Kesha that has lasted nearly a decade is over. On Thursday, Kesha announced that she and the producer had reached a “resolution” of the defamation lawsuit against her that was set to go to trial next month. She had accused Luke of drugging and raping her in 2014.
“Only God knows what happened that night,” Kesha wrote in her statement. “As I always said, I cannot recount everything that happened. I am looking forward to closing the door on this chapter of my life and beginning a new one.

The initiative makes sense for the upcoming Lifetime drama series, which was created by Desperate Housewives‘ Marc Cherry and counts Eva Longoria among its exec producers. Devious Maids is based on the hit Televisa telenovela Ellas Son La Alegría Del Hogar and centers on five Latina maids (Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramírez, Roselyn Sánchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes) with ambition and dreams of their own while working for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills — with murder and intrigue thrown into the mix. The network is making the pilot episode available early on digital platforms beginning Sunday in both English and Spanish. The sneak peak comes ahead of the series’ on-air debut June 23. Following the premiere, Lifetime will make each episode available in both languages the day after its Sunday 10 Pm airing. “We are thrilled to work with our distribution partners on making Devious Maids available in both English and...

What do TV execs do when they run out of ideas for shows? Borrow existing properties from Latin America. This time, they’re “re-imagining” the classic novela Rubi as a brand new series for American primetime.
As you may remember, this formula has been tried many times before. ABC had a hugely successful run with Ugly Betty and several other classics are also being considered for English makeovers.
Rubi was a huge hit back in 2005 and drew nearly eight million viewers for its final episode. According to NBC Latino, the American version will follow the same basic story of a poor woman’s journey to fame and fortune.
Devious Maids producer Michael Garcia will be backing the project and, as of right now, no cast has been announced. Hardcore Rubi fans are already petitioning for original star Barbara Mori to be given a role, which could definitely help stir up the buzz.

With Desperate Housewives quickly coming to an end, Eva Longoria will be returning to work with ABC, ABC Studios, and Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry for a new pilot called Devious Maids. It’s nice to see she would rather stick with the people she knows than move on to a new project at another network. The best part of this story is Longoria will not be starring in the pilot. She is on board solely as an executive producer.
As reported by Deadline, this is Longoria’s first time as an exec producer on a pilot, so what better way to try out a new job then by working with people you are already familiar with, like Cherry? The pilot is being written by Cherry and is based on the Mexican format. It will follow the lives of four maids, played by Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, and Judy Reyes.

While Desperate Housewives is coming to an end, star Eva Longoria is staying in business with ABC, ABC Studios and Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. Longoria is joining the ABC/ABC Studios pilot Devious Maids, which like Desperate Housewives is a soap with four female leads, as an executive producer. Written by Cherry based on the Mexican format, Devious Maids follows four maids (Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Judy Reyes) with ambition and dreams of their own while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Longoria will executive produce alongside Cherry, Sabrina Wind, Paul Presburger, David Lonner, Larry Shuman, John Mass and Michael Garcia. In addition to her acting career, Longoria, repped by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment and attorney Brad Small, has been active behind the camera as a producer, setting several series projects over the past few years though her company Unbelievable Entertainment. This marks the...
