A creator economy startup has added an experienced exec to its leadership team. Will Keenan, who made waves a decade ago as the President of the multi-channel network Endemol Beyond, has resurfaced as the Chief Revenue Officer of Coy Creator.
Variety describes Coy Creator as a “business-in-a-box” platform aimed at professional creators. The startup’s initialized name stands for “capitalize on you,” and its platform allows its partners to host experiences and content on personalized URLs. With that business plan in mind, Coy is looking to transition from its beta period to an official launch that is slated for this month. For now, visitors to the Coy website can request more information about the company’s creator- and brand-facing services.
Keenan described Coy Creator as “the future of Hollywood” and heralded the company as “the perfect place at the perfect time for me to make a return to the entertainment industry.

Anyone who’s been to a Tool show in recent years knows that the band kindly asks fans to put away their smartphones during the concert. One fan at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday (February 14th) learned the hard way by getting thoroughly admonished by singer Maynard James Keenan in the middle of the band’s set.
Ironically, another fan filmed the moment (as seen below), as Keenan ripped into the offending concertgoer while performing the song “Intolerance.” The frontman screamed, “Put your fucking phone down, dickhead! Seriously!”
It’s not the first time a fan incited the rage of Keenan by filming or photographing a Tool show. Back in December, the singer called another audience member a “dickhead” for using a flash at a show in Canada, yelling, “Take the light off dickhead. Take the light off. Don’t be American. Take it off dickhead.”

‘Unforgotten’ Season 5 Finds Sunny ‘Extremely Lost’ After Cassie’s Death, Says Actor Sanjeev Bhaskar
British mystery series “Unforgotten” returns to PBS on Sept. 3 for its fifth season — but minus longtime co-lead Nicola Walker, whose character, Dci Cassie Stuart, was tragically killed off at the end of Season 4.
Her partner Sunil “Sunny” Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) is still grieving her loss when he’s saddled with a new boss, Dci Jesse James (Sinéad Keenan of “Being Human”), to whom he immediately takes an intense dislike — as does his team.
Longtime fans might also resent the new character who’s taken Cassie’s place. Both Bhaskar and Keenan spoke with TheWrap ahead of the Season 5 premiere about where we find Sunny and Jesse.
TheWrap: How was it coming into a show that’s already established and knowing that not only the characters, but even fans might be hostile?

Sarah Hyland found herself in an awkward position during a recent double elimination on a recent episode of Love Island.
Hyland, host of the reality competition series, was challenged by contestant Mike Starks when another contestant Vickala “Kay Kay” Gray proclaimed that she wanted to dump herself, thus being eliminated from the competition.
Gray chose to leave after her boyfriend Keenan Anunay was voted off by the other contestants.
“I would like to voluntarily also leave,” Gray explained. “I feel like I found what I came here for, and I’d like to leave with Keenan.”
Gray started dating Anunay at the beginning of the season because of his good energy. After announcing her decision, Hyland asked Gray if she was sure about making that decision.
“Before you go anywhere, I just want to make sure that you’re absolutely happy with your decision,” Hyland explained, and Gray reassured Hyland with “no regrets.

Fans won’t be instantly smitten with Unforgotten’s new detective chief inspector, and that’s fine with Chris Lang, the creator and writer of the engrossing British cold-case drama, returning for Season 5 on Sunday, September 3, on PBS. He anticipated it would take time for viewers to warm up to Jessica James (Sinéad Keenan), who replaces Nicola Walker’s Cassie Stuart in the Masterpiece series’ fifth season following the beloved character’s death. Lang’s solution: to have her still-grieving colleagues, led by Detective Inspector Sunny Khan, also struggle to forge a connection with their boss, even though nine months have passed since Cassie died. “I knew the audience would come to it feeling a huge sense of loss and probably some resentment,” Lang says. “So I wanted to dive straight in to a man who’s still wrestling with grief and loss, which is impacting his professional life and...

Love Island USA has been filled with drama since it returned to Peacock last month, but we didn't expect the show's host to get caught up in it.
The series aired a dramatic installment Friday night that found someone being dumped from the island, leading to some of the wildest scenes in Love Island History.
So, how did we get to that controversial moment?
Sarah Hyland arrived in Fiji at the villa, serving looks and the results of the latest public vote.

It’s not often that a host of a dating competition show gets called out, but Sarah Hyland found herself in the middle of Love Island USA drama in the Peacock series’ August 18 episode. During that installment, contestant Keenan Anunay was sent home after receiving the fewest votes, and Vickala “Kay Kay” Gray announced her decision to go home, too. “I would like to voluntarily also leave,” she said. “I feel like I found what I came here for, and I’d like to leave with Keenan.” Some contestants applauded Gray’s decision, but Hyland wanted to make sure that was the Texas native’s final answer, so to speak. “Before you go anywhere, I just — I want to make sure that you are absolutely happy with your decision,” Hyland told Gray. “No regrets,” Gray replied. And that’s when fellow Season 5 contestant Mike Stark entered the chat. “Why are you saying it like that?...

Even as the trial ended, the public remained perplexed about the truth, struggling to decide whom to trust.
However, the audacity that Amber and Depp both displayed by openly portraying their conflicting and vulnerable accounts to the media deserved applause. Unlike many celebrities who avoid such bold steps and opt for out-of-court settlements to avoid airing their dirty laundry in front of fans, this renowned rivalry between Depp and Heard lets each of them uncover the other’s flaws and present them to the world.

It doesn’t take long for the new Netflix/A24 documentary The Deepest Breath to let you know an ill wind is blowing. “I accepted that she was doing a dangerous thing,” intones the father of Alessia Zecchini, one of the world’s elite freedivers. “Extreme sports have extreme consequences,” says the father of safety diver Stephen Keenan. Both parents have funereal looks on their faces as they speak. Zecchini and Keenan, the documentary’s principal characters, appear only in previously shot footage. Singer Maynard James Keenan made headlines, including right here at Consequence, for dressing in drag at Tool’s headlining performance at Welcome to Rockville on Sunday in Daytona Beach, Florida. Despite the show coming just days after Governor Ron DeSantis signed an anti-drag bill into law, the rock frontman insists his outfit “had nothing to do with Florida.”
As reported, Keenan wore a blond wig, exaggerated red lipstick, and prosthetic breasts during the festival gig. And while it wasn’t the first time the Tool vocalist dressed in drag onstage, the timing seemed to indicate a defiance against the new Florida law that restricts minors from attending drag shows (Welcome to Rockville is an all-ages event).
That all said, Keenan told The Messenger in a post-show interview, “I’ve been cross-dressing since long before these clickbait-junkie dupes were out of diapers… It’s pretty crazy the technology and the prosthetics nowadays,...

The CW recently picked up the US distribution rights to Australia’s Barons, a surfing drama set in the early 1970s, and will launch the series on Monday, May 29, 2023 at 9pm Et/Pt as part of their summer primetime lineup. Barons was created by Liz Doran, Michael Lawrence (Bra Boys) and John Molloy (The Gloaming) and aired in Australia in 2022.
Acclaimed surf director Taylor Steele – a filmmaker credited with helping to revolutionize the surf genre – was involved as an executive producer and directed a special surf unit charged with shooting scenes on the water. Tool singer Maynard James Keenan performed in drag at the Welcome to Rockville festival Sunday night (May 21st) in Daytona Beach, Florida, in essence challenging a recent bill signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis just a few days ago.
Heavy Consequence photographer Amy Harris captured photos of Tool’s headlining set (as seen in the gallery below) at the Florida fest, where the band played its first show of 2023. Keenan wore a blonde wig, exaggerated red lipstick, and prosthetic breasts during the performance.
This past Wednesday (May 17th), DeSantis signed a series of bills targeted against drag shows and transgender rights. One bill in particular prevents minors from attending drag shows. Since Welcome to Rockville is an all-ages festival, Keenan was, essentially, in violation of the new law.
As of now, Tool’s only other scheduled 2023 dates are at four more US festivals: Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio; Louder Than Life in Louisville,...

On Wednesday night’s “The Masked Singer, three “Saved by the Bell” singers—Mantis, Gargoyle and Medusa—competed for their spot in the quarter-finals! After a performance of “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” by Usher featuring Pitbull, Gargoyle advanced to the Battle Royale where he lost to Medusa. Panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger all failed to guess superstar athlete Keenan Allen was the dancing statue.

It’s raining the Bard.
In the wake of “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight and “Happy Valley” star Sarah Lancashire’s recently announced series on William Shakespeare, another production with the Bard as topic has revealed some of its cast.

The cast includes Stephen Campbell Moore, Romario Simpson (“Granite Harbour”), Samuel Barnett (“The History Boys”), co-producer Ed Hughes and Jonny Weldon (“House of the Dragon”).
The series is based on research claiming to identify the real and diverse underground writing group of men and women who secretly crafted the plays under the pseudonym of William Shakespeare, led by the great English philosopher Francis Bacon. The world can probably be divided into two camps of people: those who will watch “The Deepest Breath,” a heart-pumping documentary on the extreme sport of free-diving, and understand the dangerous pull of the big blue, and those for whom it might be the most nightmarish vicarious trip into the ocean since “Jaws.” Both factions, however, are likely to be compelled by Laura McGann’s handsomely produced crowdpleaser, which employs startling underwater photography and some canny reconstruction to make immediate on screen a potentially obscure calling. The human narrative it finds amid this spectacle, however, is a little less persuasive, marred by an ill-advised decision to play life-and-death scenarios for suspense.

From the very beginning of The Deepest Breath, you know exactly what kind of documentary you’re in for. In the back of a car, director Laura McGann aims her camera at free-diver Alessia Zecchini and asks her a loaded question: “How do you think about death?” As you’ll later find out, Zecchini is in the midst of a global competition to swim deeper in one breath than anyone has ever done before. But the question is valid––especially when McGann cuts to the serene, crystal-blue footage of Zecchini paddling into the depths of the ocean. The camera follows her descent and subsequent sprint to the surface, where her brain loses function right before breaching; her eyes roll back while safety instructors begin performing CPR. “I’m not afraid of death,” she answers. When she regains consciousness, ready to dive again, you believe her.

Editor’s note: This review was originally published at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. Netflix releases the film on its streaming platform on Friday, July 21.
There are several key differences between “The Deepest Breath” and “Free Solo,” the Oscar-winning extreme sports documentary to which Laura McGann’s similarly harrowing and exultant non-fiction film begs — but only somewhat deserves — comparison.
To begin with the most obvious: One film is about climbing without a rope, while the other is about diving without a tank. On a slightly more nuanced level, one plays like a queasy tribute to a thrill-seeker who reached his peak despite meeting the love of his life, while the other unfolds like a heartsick elegy for a couple of athletes whose luck may have run out just after they found each other. Both of these films are suspenseful enough to leave you gasping for air, and both of them hinge...

The death of Keenan Anderson, 31, is causing an outcry among activists and his family after the Black high school teacher’s fatal interaction with the Los Angeles Police Department. On Jan. 3, LAPD used a taser on Anderson during the aftermath of a traffic accident, which later resulted in his death from a reported heart attack.
Earlier this week, the LAPD released body cam footage from the scene as part of a video briefing on the incident. Footage showed Anderson begging for help as multiple officers held him down while trying to restrain him.

Jim Carrey began his entertainment career in the '70s as a stand-up comedian, where he entertained audiences with physical comedy and spot-on impressions of celebrities like Sammy Davis, Jr., and Clint Eastwood. In the 1980s, he landed smaller roles in TV and movies before becoming a regular on the comedy sketch show "In Living Color" in 1990. Carrey quickly proved to be a valuable asset to the show by lampooning pop culture figures like Vanilla Ice and creating a wacky list of recurring characters such as Fire Marshall Bill and Vera De Milo. Despite being part of an ensemble cast that included other heavyweight talents like David Alan Grier, Jamie Foxx, and Keenan and Damon Wayans, Carrey's comedic abilities stood out. "In Living Color" ended in 1994, but Carrey's career was only beginning.
Immediately after "In Living Color," Carrey was tapped to play the lead in a bombastic comedy named "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.
