As everyone knows, Tom Cruise leads an action-packed life akin to that of a movie star. The actor enjoys a good thrill, and he performs almost all of his own stunts. And it was his dedication that led him to accept one of his most prominent roles, Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, in the 1986 action flick Top Gun.
So, in the case of this Paramount Pictures film, the actor had an unusual demand that ultimately saved the film from disaster. Well, after a less-than-ideal experience working with director Ridley Scott on the movie Legend, Cruise was understandably cautious about committing to a new project.
When producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer approached him with the script for Top Gun, Cruise liked it but felt that it “needed some work”.

Of all the contenders to play James Bond next, many would argue that Tom Hardy is effortlessly one of the best choices ever. His wit, charming demeanor, and overall personality make him stand out among everyone else and seem like the perfect choice to embody the peerless spy. Plus, he’s British, so that checks out another box of requirements for the character.

However, even after all these similarities, one thing still stands in the way between everyone deeming him to be the perfect choice for this role. This one thing is his 12-year-old $156 million box office disaster with Chris Pine, This Means War, which featured him as a CIA agent but failed to garner many appraisals for Hardy in the role because of his lackluster performance.

Match #1: Sol Ruca def. Izzi Dame The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The first entrant into the Nxt Women’s North American Title Ladder Match at Nxt Battleground was determined when Sol Ruca and Izzi Dame went toe-to-toe for the honor. Ruca looked to use her aerial attack but took a hard fall to the outside before Dame chucked her onto the announce table. Dame, even without former mentor Kiana James by her side, grounded the high-flying Ruca. Just as Dame looked to be in control, Ruca hit the Soul Snatcher, booking her ticket to Las Vegas.

For the first time ever, there was a “double chair” twist on “The Voice” in Spring 2024 as a coaching duo sat on the panel together: country pop stars Dan + Shay. These three-time Grammy winners for “Tequila,” “Speechless” and “10,000 Hours” had a history with the program as they previously performed on the live shows in Seasons 15 and 19, served as Blake Shelton‘s battle advisors in Season 20, and filled in for an absent Niall Horan during the Season 24 knockouts. Now that the Season 25 blind auditions, battles and knockouts have wrapped up, can Dan + Shay prevail for the first time on NBC’s reality TV show?

The Voice Brings People Together
On the Monday, March 25 episode of The Voice, two of Team Chance the Rapper’s contestants, Bri Fletcher and Serenity Arce, were forced to compete in the Battles. Admittedly, Chance initially put them together because of their affinity for “emotional music.” But it led to a moment of deep feelings and shed tears for the competitors and Chance was nearly brought to tears as well. However, in interviews, Senenity has been candid about the closeness between her and Bri throughout the show. Undeniably, it was hard for her to think about one of them not making it out of the Knockouts. Further, Serenity says, “It...

The Voice’s John Legend called out his fellow coaches for what he felt was a “sadistic” movie during the show.
Legend stars on the show with the legendary Reba McEntire, hip-hop star Chance the Rapper, and country pop duo Dan + Shay.
With $100,000 and a Universal Music Group deal on the line for contestants, the coaches can also offer musicians deals, which could help them achieve further success.
That’s why The Voice coaches tend to utilize a part of the competition involving the “Steal” to take away another coach’s musician and add them to their team.
However, another component of the game is the Playoff Pass, which allows coaches to save musicians already on their team.

Following Blake Shelton‘s exit from The Voice at the end of Season 23, John Legend is now the longest-tenured coach on the NBC singing competition series. But could the country star ever return to the hot seat? “I feel like Gwen [Stefani] is the only chance we have. I don’t think Blake is coming back,” Legend said with a laugh when speaking with Entertainment Tonight. “He is staying on the farm; he’s enjoying himself.” “I’ve talked to him and he’s, like, picking corn. He sent us some fresh corn from the farm, he sent us some fresh peaches from the farm, we made peach cobbler,” the Egot winner continued. “I don’t think he has any desire to come back to Hollywood and film The Voice.” Even though a Voice reunion seems out of the question, Legend said he still regularly keeps in touch with his former co-stars.

The final round of Blind Auditions for The Voice‘s 25th season was a night to remember for Val T. Webb, a worship leader and backup singer who earned chair turns from all four coaches. Webb, a 43-year-old mother from New Braunfels, Texas, took to the stage to perform a heartfelt rendition of Deborah Cox’s “How Did You Get Here,” wowing the coaches, studio audience, and viewers at home. Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay all turned their chairs for Webb, who revealed that it was her son, Joshua (who joined her on stage), who encouraged her to finally audition for the show. “I’m so happy for you because I see the joy in your face, and little relief, too, I think,” Legend said after Webb’s performance, per Parade. “It’s very difficult doing this audition but you handled it with such poise and grace.

Match #1: Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic – Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin def. Axiom and Nathan Frazer The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin punched their ticket to Nxt Vengeance Day with a resounding victory over Axiom and Nathan Frazer in the Semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. The speed of Axiom and Frazer was on full display early, but the “Wolf Dogs” as Breakker likes to call themselves weathered the storm and used their power to gain the advantage. After an incredible back and forth between both teams, Corbin hit Axiom with an End of Days with Breakker following that up with a bone-shattering Spear on Frazer, securing their victory.

Chrissy Teigen, David Chang and Joel Kim Booster dropped by The Hollywood Reporter‘s studio during the Sundance Film Festival, where they discussed their new food series, Chrissy & Dave Dine Out.
While Teigen and Chang have an extensive background in the culinary industry, as Teigen is a best-selling cookbook author and Chang is one of the nation’s most recognizable restaurateurs, Booster was the only one of the trio who did not share a passion for food prior to the series.
“Part of the role that I sort of fell into was as audience surrogate because I don’t have a background in food. I don’t have a super developed palate. I didn’t have a huge interest in food,” the actor-comedian explained to THR. “I grew up really poor. We didn’t go out to eat a lot. John Legend named his favorite Beatles song and he made a good choice. His explanation, however, was awful. He said a certain Beatles song stuck out to him because it was adapted into a movie. That movie was so terrible George Harrison publicly attacked it.
John Legend’s favorite Beatles song is from ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’
During a 2009 interview with Cleveland.com, Legend was asked to name his favorite song by The Beatles. He picked the title track from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. While that tune isn’t as acclaimed as “Yesterday” or “Strawberry Fields Forever,” it boasts a catchy hard-rock riff and some of the Fab Four’s trademarked British humor.
“That sticks out because of the movie,” Legend said. “Everything they did … incredible talent, man. It’s just amazing how great they were, how they influenced our culture, and how the music still stands up today.

In the UK in the 1990s, bodybuilding was a freak pursuit – the domain of weirdos who painted themselves with Ronseal and stretched tiny Lycra hammocks across acres of skin the texture of an Arbroath Smokie in an attempt to resemble Marvel’s The Thing. Nobody knew what a deltoid was. Or a protein window. Fit people were the ones who played a weekly game of five-a-side before the pub. Fake tan smelt of biscuits, and even Sporty Spice didn’t have abs.

Gladiators, ready! The legendary sports gameshow that sees members of the public take on super-strong “Gladiators” in a series of physical challenges is getting a revival on the BBC – what a time to be alive. The new Gladiators starts on BBC One on Saturday January 13 at 5.50 p.m., and is presented by father-son due Bradley and Barney Walsh.
Gladiators captivated Saturday nights in the nineties.
