Even if you’d based most of your horror movie in Central Park, you’d think you could come up with a better title for it. No horror-themed thoughts, ideas or images go through my head with the simple title Central Park but here I am reviewing the film anyway…
Poor title aside, Central Park does do some good things. I actually quite like the idea of a slasher movie where the killer just chases people around the famous park with police unable to capture them for years. Whether it’s a good or bad thing, Central Park isn’t that film.
There is a killer and his victims are a group of teenagers but the writers throw in a whole lot more to the story than that.

The month of June has been flying by quicker than I can even believe, as we’re already a week out from the end of the 2017 Dances With Films festival, which took over the historic Chinese Theater in Los Angeles earlier this month. During Dwf, I had the opportunity to catch several intriguing genre films, including Devil’s Whisper, Inheritance, Imitation Girl, and Central Park, and here’s a summary of my thoughts on these four flicks:
Devil’s Whisper: There are a few aspects that I enjoyed about Devil’s Whisper, but unfortunately in the end, a somewhat predictable conclusion coupled with some hokey dialogue ends up derailing the supernatural story from becoming anything beyond “it’s fine.”
Co-writer/director Adam Ripp admirably takes the road left traveled in Devil’s Whisper (especially in relation to other recent possession-related movies), as we follow a teenager named Alex (Luca Oriel...

Enjoying its world premiere later today at the 2017 Dances With Films festival in Los Angeles, writer/director Justin Reinsilber’s Central Park is an ambitious slasher hybrid that interweaves several different storylines which all coincide on one fateful night in the titular, iconic New York City location. During our interview, Reinsilber chatted about what inspired his unusual approach to his ambitious story, the challenges of shooting in New York and creating a compelling masked killer for modern audiences, and why it was important to him to go all practical with Central Park’s effects.
Great to speak with you, Justin. You really took an ambitious route with this film, because it's common to follow a group of kids, but you take it to the next level with the various storylines that all come together. It almost feels in a way like it's a Paul Thomas Anderson-esque approach to horror,...

Central Park Teaser from Melissa Chamberlain on Vimeo. The image people often adamantly hold about their hometowns can often times ultimately prove to be a disheartening illusion. That’s certainly true for the teens in the new character driven horror movie, ‘Central Park,’ which marks the feature film writing and directorial debuts of Justin Reinsilber. The […]

First time director Justin Reinsilber, helms the horror feature Central Park. The film will have its World Premiere at the Dances with Films festival, in Los Angeles. In this title, children of New York's elite are targeted by a vengeful killer. In Manhattan's most well-known park, there is nowhere to hide and no escape. Central Park stars: Justiin A. Davis (Catfight), Ruby Modine (Half to Death), Grace Van Patten, Malika Samuel, Guillermo Arribas and Deema Aitken. To show in early June, a look ahead at the film's World Premiere is hosted here. The Dances with Films' synopsis is a bit more revealing. From this synopsis, six high school juniors rally around a billionaire father. He is the target of an investigation and accused of a Ponzi-like racketeering scheme. Later, the teenagers head out into Central Park, to blow off steam. But, a night of partying turns into one of horror...

A policeman, Hatch ( Todd Mann) cuts himself and his skin falls off, only his blood and entrails are left behind. Ooh Dean (Jensen Ackles) get a shirt! Dean is dreaming, Sam (Jared Padalecki) is exercising and Dean's on the road. So we see him naked too! Sam's been with a pro, (Julia Voth) which he wouldn't really do if he was the 'old' Sam. He pays her and where was Dean's tattoo as Sam still has his? Sam throws her card away - well he can hook up with anyone and he does that as routine now. Sam is in Pennsylvania and Dean tells him it's been one and a half days, since they were just on a case, Sam likes to work. Dean: "Who died and made you boss?" That's a loaded question for this show considering the number of deaths of lead characters and others. So don't answer that Sam.
