Exclusive: Emmy-nominated writers-producers Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, executive producers and co-showrunners of Abbott Elementary and co-developers and executive producers of Harley Quinn, have signed a new exclusive overall deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, the studio behind the acclaimed ABC comedy series and the popular Max adult animated series. Details are not being disclosed but the premium pact is said to be for four years.
Under the agreement, Halpern and Schumacker will continue to develop, create, and produce programming through their Wbtv-based company, Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions, including series for Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming platform, external streaming services, the broadcast networks, and cable.

The streamer has ordered a fifth season of Harley Quinn, the adult animated series centered on the mayhem-loving character. The renewal comes two months after season four wrapped.
“We’re thrilled that the news of Harley and Ivy’s continuing misadventures is finally out and we can stop telling people in secret,” executive producers Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker and Dean Lorey said in a statement. “We must have handed out at least three thousand NDAs by now. It was a big waste of paper.”

In the finale of the third episode, we see that the doctors had to solve another critical case involving a pregnant woman with internal bleeding. After an ultrasound examination, Doctor Mirtha finds that the baby is completely healthy. The main problem now is to diagnose the real reason for the internal bleeding. As DC superheroes Hawkman and Hawkgirl, in a brief cameo, Williams and Brunson explain how they fell in love in the upcoming special, titled Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special. Per the logline, the special “will feature Harley and Ivy celebrating their very first Valentine’s Day together, while also revealing how the rest of the ragtag crew spends the gushiest, mushiest, most romantic day of the year.”
“As a Harley Quinn fan, I’m thrilled to lend my voice to the special and to team up with my Abbott Elementary creative partners, Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker and co-star Tyler James Williams for this fun episode,” Brunson said.
