Joe Locke is teasing Heartstopper Season 3 and says it will tackle darker issues.
Locke attended Disney’s upfront presentation to advertisers on Thursday and teased what viewers can expect when the third season of the Netflix series premieres on October 3.
“It’s definitely a more grown-up season,” Locke told Deadline. “We deal with more darker issues, Charlies mental health is a big focus. And it’s still Heartstopper, so there’s always the light at the end of the tunnel, which is a really great way of dealing with issues like that.”

If you wish the third season of Heartstopper would come out now, you're not alone.
Heartstopper Season 2 Episode 8 left us with one of the sweetest cliffhangers we have ever seen, and if you weren't kicking your feet in the air as Charlie typed those words on his phone, were you watching the same show and, more importantly, are you okay?
We were almost guaranteed to get a third season of the show. Now, the most challenging part is the waiting period.
We have compiled all the information you need about the season as we await the release to tide you over.
Once it comes out, we will update this post with new information, so you might want to bookmark it.
Will There Be a Third Season of Heartstopper?
We could have answered this question in the affirmative one year ago because a show rarely gets renewed for multiple seasons after the freshman has premiered.

It’s impossible to go a day on the internet without interacting with a robot.
Algorithms dominate the World Wide Web and advertisers are fond of using them to discern exactly what consumers are looking to buy. Few algorithms are as sophisticated, however, as streaming titan Netflix’s. Perhaps you may have noticed, but the thumbnail images for content on your Netflix account frequently differ from those on your friends and family’s. In fact, a thumbnail for a particular TV show on movie may change on your own account from day-to-day, seemingly depending on your mood.
That’s because Netflix, like all online enterprises, has a vested interest in giving you exactly what you want to see. As detailed in this helpful rundown, since 2015 Netflix has put its algorithm to work analyzing its users’ viewing habits and curating imagery that will appeal to them. It’s not like this is any grand secret either,...

This article contains spoilers for Heartstopper season 2.
Netflix’s second season of Heartstopper is breaking viewership records for LGBTQ+ programming, transcending the typical queer audience it would be expected to garner. Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring’s (Joe Locke) deeply romantic teenage fling started to blossom into a real relationship in season 2, and with that development came discussions around coming out, eating disorders, communication, and sexual consent. The series has a unique way of painting every scenario gold that could possibly trouble its characters.
Heartstopper’s eternal queer ecstasy is an absolute Godsend for the LGBTQ+ community, allowing young viewers to see a bright light of possibility and potential for their adolescent romantic prospects and on into adulthood. Before we get started, I should probably mention in the interest of full disclosure that I am a Heartstopper superfan. It is my happy place. My family has watched Season 1 more times than we can count and can quote almost all of it verbatim. Yet I went into Season 2 with as much trepidation as Charlie Spring did Harry Greene’s birthday blowout.

Season finales are tricky to pull off, but one thing that has become clear after watching many bad ones is that no one needs huge cliffhangers or shocking deaths.
Heartstopper's allure has always been that even when things are bad, there is always the possibility of life getting better, and they always do in this world.
Heartstopper Season 2 Episode 8 delivered on all its promises as the kids went to prom, Charlie and Nick hand-in-hand as boyfriends. It resolved some of the hanging storylines but hinted at the direction Heartstopper Season 3 might take.
But first, on Instagram, Nicholas Nelson made it official that he was Charlie Spring's boyfriend and Charlie Spring was his boyfriend.
He made the post with a smile and used a picture that captured how happy he was to be with Charlie.
The post was a significant moment for him. It was what he'd been stressed...

Season 2 of young adult romance “Heartstopper” has arrived on Netflix, accompanied by a soundtrack filled with pop and rock. Adapted from Alice Oseman’s graphic novels, the new season continues the cute, queer, colorful and cartoon-embellished story.
Now that they are boyfriends, Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) face the nuanced challenges of Nick’s decision to come out to his family and friends. Elle Argent (Yasmin Finney) and Tao Xu (William Gao) fight their own butterflies. Tara Jones (Corinna Brown) and Darcy Olsson (Kizzy Edgell) are back with their relationship road bumps — and let’s not forget our favorite bookworm, Isaac Henderson (Tobie Donovan).
The first episode kicks off on a solid note with Maggie Rogers’ “Shatter” and Fitz and the Tantrums’ “Out of My League.” The 1975’s “The Sound” uplifts episode three after a stressful round of testing for the Year 11 students. Taylor Swift’s...

Some people's existence is disappointing, and no matter how low we trim our expectations, they can never seem to surpass them.
The Paris trip was on its final leg on Heartstopper Season 2 Episode 6 as Nick suffered some losses but had a major win.
Before the group departed for Paris, Nick had been excited to see his dad when he arrived in the city.
He sent multiple texts, left voicemails, and when his dad finally returned them, Nick was super excited to hear they would be spending some time together.
This was not like other times because he was also excited to introduce Charlie to his dad.
The excitement lasted a short while after they met Stephane. From his demeanor, one would peg him as a fun guy who was quite excited to see his son.
And then he opened his mouth.
The man had no idea about anything in his son's life.

Let’s get one thing out into the open right away: there isn’t a single show on TV right now that uplifts your spirits like Heartstopper. Each episode is like going to the ice cream parlor with friends on a hot summer’s day, or bundling up with your favorite book and hot chocolate on a winter’s night. Originally based on a set of graphic novels by Alice Oseman, the Netflix adaptation of the story shows the journey of English schoolboys Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) and Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) as they unravel their romantic feelings for one another slowly but surely. The first season saw rugby player Nick undergo a sexual awakening via his love for Charlie, while the latter already knows what he likes, but has years of bullying and trauma to heal from.

Montages are usually corny and cringe-worthy, but Charlie and Nick had a way of making it seem like so much fun.
We were reunited with our favorite students as a new school term kicked off on Heartstopper Season 2 Episode 1.
Not much time had lapsed since the Heartstopper Season 1 finale saw Nick come out to his mom and got the best response anyone could want.
Being so generously accepted by his mom gave him the courage to come out to more people because that's the thing with coming out -- queer people come out their entire lives.
It is a constant cycle of meeting someone new, forming a relationship, coming out to them, rinse and repeat. It doesn't seem fair, but those are the rules our world has made, and for now, one can't help but play with them.
But before the Nick situation, Charlie was happy. Happier than we'd ever seen him.

Despite featuring no superheroes, superpowers or elaborate plans to destroy Gotham City, Heartstopper was one of 2022’s most anticipated comic book adaptations, and its second season – out now on Netflix – was no different. Alice Oseman’s webcomic about two British high school boys who fall in love has an extremely devoted fanbase who only have to see a drawing of falling leaves – Charlie and Nick’s romantic motif – to spill over with excitement.

The gift of Netflix’s beloved “Heartstopper” lies in how it showcases queer storytelling in a way that feels joyous, heartwarming and tender to watch.
That’s not to say there isn’t room in the television landscape for more mature representations of queer youth. But at the heart of “Heartstopper” is a utopian vision of queer high school life, a rarely represented freedom to simply be and love who you are meant to during those formative high school years.
Here, the emphasis isn’t on bullying or the trauma that queer teens face, like on “13 Reasons Why.” Rather, we get to follow characters leaning into their identity and trying to find joy and community. It is arguably radical storytelling in the canon of queer representation, and feels necessary in a world where any progress for queer people is met with repressive backlash.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] When we someday look back on the best, most romantic TV couples, we’re betting Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) will be high on the list given the audience response to Netflix‘s popular Heartstopper series, which returns for its highly anticipated second season on August 3. In the new season, Charlie and Nick are a bona fide couple, and while that’s worth shouting from the rooftops in the U.K.-based series, based on the webcomic and graphic novels by Alice Oseman (also an executive producer and creator of the show), that proves more difficult than originally thought. That’s because Nick, who came out to his mother Sarah (Olivia Colman) as bisexual in the first season finale, is unsure how much he wants — and needs — to share with the rest of the world. After last week’s chat with Locke, Connor...

The story of Nick and Charlie wasn’t new to the world when it first appeared on Netflix in April 2022, but it has become a larger phenomenon ever since. Author Alice Osemon first introduced the two beloved characters in Solitaire, a novel about Tori, Charlie’s older sister, way back in 2014. The author is a household name in the queer community for writing underrated, heartwarming queer stories for young readers. Heartstopper, originally written as a webcomic, got published as physical graphic novels after it achieved massive success and currently has four printed volumes.

Who’s ready to get emotional? Season one of Heartstopper won raves for bringing to life the acclaimed graphic novels, which present a coming-of-age queer love story between the nerdy and shy Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and the sensitive jock Nick Nelson (Kit Connor). Alice Oseman’s tale does a wonderful job of capturing the butterflies and emotions of falling in love for the first time, while centering it within the anxieties of coming out and defining one’s sexuality. Though it's meant to appeal to a teen audience, Heartstopper excels at placing adults back in their teenage years, where every text and fleeting glance can feel like an earth-shattering event.
Season two has not lost any of the magic. In so many ways, it examines what happens after “happily ever after” in teen worlds. Charlie got the guy that he wanted, but anxieties and hangups don’t vanish after one triumph.

The trouble with most shows about teenagers is that while they can be entertaining, the storylines are often farfetched and absurd. In media, depictions of teens are adultified so much that the resulting characters are far removed from real-life adolescents’ daily lives and experiences. With “Heartstopper,” based on the graphic novel and comic of the same name, creator Alice Oseman proves that she recalls the uniqueness and singularity of teenhood. The U.K.-set Netflix series is one of the purest, most vividly accurate TV depictions of what it means to be a teen.
The first season of “Heartstopper” centered on the burgeoning relationship between Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a lanky, quiet student attending an all-boys school, and the magnetic Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), the captain of the school’s rugby team. In the official full-length Heartstopper trailer that Netflix dropped Tuesday for Season 2 of its sweeter-than-ice-cream LGBTQ+ dramedy, Nick Nelson appears to have moved on. That is, he appears to have moved on from the bubblegum-flavored dessert that boyfriend Charlie Spring quite rightly dubbed a crime during their Season 1 triple date.

As you’ll see in the video above, the new couple remains adorably affixed to one another, although, as we knew they would, obstacles present themselves. For starters, Nick discovers that being bi is easier than telling anyone outside of Charlie’s friend group that he is.

“Heartstopper” star Kit Connor said he might not have ever come out as bisexual had fans not pressured him to last fall.
“I think ‘forced’ isn’t the right word I would use,” Connor said of his coming out process in an interview published Tuesday with British Vogue. “But I would say that I would have preferred to do it another way. I also don’t know if I would have ever done it. But at the end of the day I don’t regret it. In many ways it was really empowering.”
Connor’s remarks come over half a year after the star of the Netflix YA series shared his sexuality on social media after feeling pressure from fans who speculated about his sexuality. Many accused Connor of “queerbaiting” by playing a bisexual character on the show and attending Pride events during his time off.

Netflix unveiled its first look at the highly anticipated second season of “Heartstopper,” the swoon-worthy high school coming-of-age romance that tracks the budding relationship between Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor).
During the streamer’s Tudum fan event on June 17, “Heartstopper” co-stars Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell — who play the couple Tara and Darcy on the series — introduced the first scene of Season 2, which picks up the morning after the Season 1 finale. In that episode, Charlie and Nick officially became boyfriends, and Nick came out as bisexual to his mother, Sarah (Olivia Colman).
In the Season 2 clip, Charlie wakes up the next morning in a young love afterglow, to a text from Nick that simply reads “Hi ❤️” — which Charlie immediately declares to be a “good morning text.” From that moment, Charlie remains glued to his phone as he continually texts with Nick during his morning routine, to...

Heartstopper is a heartwarming show about young people learning to love themselves, but some of the discourse around the Netflix hit is much less endearing. After Kit Connor’s sexuality became a topic of intense speculation in the more toxic corners of the internet, the actor who plays Nick Nelson on Heartstopper was bullied into coming out on social media. It was the umpteenth example of an online mob gone awry, but Connor has received support from many, including his Oscar-winning co-star Olivia Colman.

Olivia Colman condemns people who ‘bullied’ Heartstopper star Kit Connor into coming out as bisexual
Olivia Colman has spoken out in support of her Heartstopper co-star Kit Connor coming out as bisexual, while criticising those who “bullied” him to talk about it.
Connor, 18, shared that he is bisexual in November after some viewers accused him of “queerbaiting” – hinting at identifying as LGBTQ+ for social or commercial gain.
The actor responded to these accusations in a tweet. “Back for a minute. I’m bi,” he wrote. “Congrats for forcing an 18-year-old to out himself. I think some of you missed the point of the show. bye.”
In the series, based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novels of the same name, Connor plays the role of Nick Nelson, a star rugby player who begins to question his sexuality when he meets and befriends Charlie Spring (Joe Locke). His character later comes out as bisexual.

We all know it was Agatha all along behind the scenes of the Marvel series "WandaVision." That's true, even though Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) proved herself to be quite a formidable force in the little town she and Vision (Paul Bettany) settled in. It was all her warping of reality through her grief that changed things, not that Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) helped matters. A witch who has been in the magic game for centuries, she couldn't stand that Wanda was so good at it. At the end of the series, Wanda turns Agatha into what she pretended to be through each episode; a suburban nosey neighbor.
As we know, though, Kathryn Hahn is far too awesome for that to be the end, and we're getting a Disney+ spin-off series centered around her. That show, which was originally called "House of Harkness," is now "Agatha: Coven of Chaos," and the casting news...

The Netflix coming-of-age series Heartstopper premiered this spring to significant acclaim for being a well-made and heartfelt depiction of LGBT youth.
However, one of its stars has been the subject of unreasonable criticism by fans and responded by coming out as bisexual, then telling toxic fans they were “forcing an 18-year-old to out himself. I think some of you missed the point of the show.”
Kit Connor played the bisexual character Nick Nelson, a rugby star who develops a relationship with his classmate Charlie Spring, played by Joe Locke.
Connor’s character is closeted at the outset of the series while Locke’s character is out as gay, and the show’s first season shows Nick having several crushes on boys and girls.
Connor had been receiving undue attention from fans of the show when photos of him holding hands with Maia Reficco surfaced.

Marvel Studios cast a spell over Heartstopper fans on Tuesday by casting Joe Locke in the upcoming Disney+ series Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Locke rose to popularity by playing the adorable Charlie Spring in Heartstopper, a gay teenager who falls in love with his hunky classmate Nick Nelson (Kit Connor). Locke delivers a superb performance in the Netflix drama based on the comic series by Alice Oseman, and now he’s set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Kathryn Hahn reprises her WandaVision role of Agatha Harkness for the new series, with Emma Caufield again playing WandaVision‘s Dottie too. Who Locke will play remains a mystery, though Marvel fans speculate Locke will star as an aged-up version of Wanda and Vision’s son, Billy, also known as Wiccan. While this remains unconfirmed, introducing Wiccan would tie Agatha: Coven of Chaos to the events of WandaVision and introduce another critical member of the Young Avengers.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to grow, particularly its young universe. We're seeing the good guys slowly build their young cast, leading up to the inevitable formation of the Young Avengers, with young heroes taking up the mantles of aging or dead Avengers. Now, it is time to fill in the young villain side, or at least fill the young side of the villains' world.
This is to say that we're starting to get casting news for the villain-centric "WandaVision" spinoff "Agatha: Coven of Chaos," which was announced last year and is set to bring back Kathryn Hahn as the show-stopping witch Agatha Harkness — of "Agatha All Along" and the death of Sparky fame — for an unspecified story being kept very much under wraps.

Locke’s character and plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources describe the character as a gay teen with a dark sense of humor. Hahn is reprising her role as WandaVision bad gal Agatha in the series. Emma Caulfield Ford is also set to reprise the role of Dottie from WandaVision.
Hahn’s Agatha Harkness appeared in Disney+’s WandaVision, from series creator Jac Schaeffer. WandaVision centered on Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), two superpowered beings living their ideal suburban lives in the town of Westview, NJ, who begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. Agatha, who won viewers over with her “Agatha All Along” number, is a witch from Salem and fan-favorite breakout character.
