“The Disappearance of Mrs. Wu,” a multi-generational comedy starring “Crazy Rich Asians” actor Lisa Lu, is set for a March 17 premiere at the Laemmle Theater in North Hollywood, following the film’s acquisition by Freestyle Digital Media. The coming-of-age story will then have a one-week theatrical run.
Reflective of the feature’s expansive crew of female filmmakers, “The Disappearance of Mrs. Wu” is centered around the challenges of mother-daughter relationships. The film follows Emma (Rochelle Ying), an introverted teenager, on a road-trip up the California coast after her grandmother, Lily (Lu), asks for help breaking out of her nursing home. Along the way, Emma begins to obtain a better understanding of her immigrant mother and their complicated relationship.
Director Anna Chi reunited with screenwriter Donald Martin to pen the project, who she collaborated with on 2008’s “Dim Sum Funeral.” Lu is no stranger to working with Chi either, having appeared...

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about tonight’s series finale of Hawaii Five-0.
After 10 seasons, CBS says farewell to the reboot of Hawaii Five-0… or more appropriately, “Aloha”, which is the title of the final hurrah of the reimagining of the Leonard Freeman classic series. In the series finale, it looks like everything has come full circle for McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) as he says “see you later” — not “goodbye” to his ohana.

It's the end of an era.
Hawaii Five-0 Season 10 Episode 22 serves as the series finale of the iconic CBS series, and while many fans may not be ready to say goodbye, it looks like the series is going out in style.
Appropriately titled "Aloha," the milestone episode finds Danny worse for wear after being abducted and left for dead.
Would CBS really allow the series to conclude with Danny dying? It would be quite the twist, but this is the series finale.
What we do know is that recurring cast members James Marsters (Victor Hesse), William Sadler (John McGarrett), and Mark Dacascos (Wo Fat) return during the goodbye episode.
Many fans have been worried that the series will not get a conclusive goodbye because of how late the decision to end the series came.
But it's hard to imagine a 10-year-old series wrapping without a big farewell planned.
Here's the official press release from CBS.

This Into The Badlands review contains spoilers.
Into the Badlands Season 3 Episode 13
There’s a scene towards the beginning of the episode where the Magnus of the Black Lotus (Francis Magee) challenges Sunny’s newly revealed long-lost sister Kannin (Eugenia Yuan) with what seems like impossible task: activating her brother’s dark-eyed powers. He picks up a huge hourglass (which he calls “a souvenir from Azra”), turns it over, and sets it down on his table. “You have until the sand runs out to turn him,” Magnus says, and walks out the room, leaving Kannin to wonder how the hell she’s going to make Sunny a dark-eyed one in the next 30 odd minutes.
This scene feels like a metaphor for the writing of this entire episode. “You have until the...

"The fight to keep a great warrior's sword from an evil warlord will change them in ways they never imagined." Netflix has unveiled another trailer, the third one they've released, for the sequel Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny directed by martial arts choreographer & stuntman Yuen Woo-ping. Michelle Yeoh is back as Shu Lien, along with a cast including Donnie Yen, Harry Shum Jr., Jason Scott Lee, Eugenia Yuan, Juju Chan, Chris Pang, Darryl Quon and Roger Yuan. There's something rather dispiriting surrounding Netflix's "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny." The sequel to Ang Lee's Oscar-winning "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" isn't arriving with much buzz, and seems to have a faint direct-to-video vibe (it will be released on a small handful of IMAX screens at the same time it hits the streaming service), and even by this third trailer, it's failing to drum up much excitement. Read More: 5 Unnecessary, Unwanted Sequels That Bit The Dust & 5 More That Are Somehow Getting Made Michelle Yeoh reprises her role as Yu Shu-Lien, and she's joined by Donnie Yen, Harry Shum Jr, Jason Scott Lee, Roger Yuan, Eugenia Yuan, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo in the movie that is about a battle over a sword. One that, perhaps, involves destiny. Again, there is something rather bland about this whole affair... "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny" arrives this Friday.

Zoolander and My Big Fat Greek Wedding won’t be the only films from the early aughts getting a sequel early next year. The Weinstein Company recently went ahead with production on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, the sequel to Ang Lee‘s Oscar-winning 2000 film, albeit with no involvement from the director. Instead, it comes from Yuen Woo-ping, the accomplished choreographer behind The Matrix, and numerous Jackie Chan films.
The first trailer has now landed today, which comes from Netflix, where it’ll get a day-and-date release in early February, along with — on the other side of a spectrum — an IMAX run. I was a huge fan of the first film in what now looks to be a burgeoning new martial arts film franchise. The Man With the Iron Fists was everything I love about martial arts movie and was obviously a labour of love for its star and Wu_Tang Clan member RZA. Sadly, despite the out-pouring of love from wuxia fans and internet geeks like myself, the film did not perform as well as I’m sure the studio would’ve liked. But that doesn’t stop the franchise from continuing as a direct-to-market series – and so we have The Man With the Iron Fists 2.

When RZA – co-founder of Wu-Tang Clan – stepped behind the lens for the first time back in 2012, he introduced the moviegoing audience to a pulse-pounding actioner in the form of The Man with the Iron Fists. Fast forward a little over two years and we’re now standing on the verge of the sequel’s arrival on DVD and Blu-Ray, and We Got This Covered has an exclusive clip to share with you for The Man with the Iron Fists 2.
Picking up the pieces from its predecessor, the martial arts follow-up will once again center around Thaddeus (played by the aforementioned RZA), who finds himself drawn into battle once more despite his best efforts to put his violent past behind him.
Rounding out the international ensemble are Dustin Nguyen (22 Jump Street), Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (47 Ronin), Eugenia Yuan (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend), Pim Bubear (Ninja: Shadow of a Tear...

Tagline: "What if your quiet neighbor was Ted Bundy?" Distribution house Indican Pictures has picked up Stanley Yung's (2 Bedroom 1 Bath) #1 Serial Killer. This film, which was previously titled Chink, involves a working Joe going postal. And, Indican Pictures has released the film's first trailer. The clip shows Eddy pushed to the breaking point. As well, the film stars Jason Tobin, Eugenia Yuan, Rane Jameson and Tzi Ma. Fans of indie horror can find the first trailer, exclusively on 28Dla, here. The trailer tells more of #1 Serial Killer's story. The clip shows Eddy constantly humiliated by those around him. Socially awkward, Eddy begins to strategize a violent plan, to get even with everyone. He starts stalking those in his life who have wronged him. Soon, Eddy becomes an unstoppable serial killer. Can he top Ted Bundy's body count? It is likely that #1 Serial Killer will have a release date later this year.

Dragon Seed: Lau & Loo’s Dissatisfying NYC Chinese Gang Saga
Martin Scorsese appears as executive producer on Andrew Lau and Andrew Loo’s Revenge of the Green Dragons, which is no surprise considering he famously remade Lau’s 2002 film Infernal Affairs as The Departed (2006). Featuring a gritty period portrait of gangland warfare in New Your City, it’s clearly the sort of material that Scorsese seems to be attracted to, and thematically, one could even say there are influences of titles like Mean Streets (1973) or Goodfellas (1990) in the mix, with slight homages here and there. But the similiarites are only skin deep. This saga, which is actually based on fact, feels too zany and forthright, any realistic human elements crushed beneath its predilection for exaggerated, dramatic performances and hyperviolence.

Ray Liotta, Justin Chon (Twilight), and Harry Shum, Jr. (Glee) star in the 1990s NYC-set action crime drama that’s executive produced by Martin Scorsese and set to debut next month at the Toronto Film Festival. Revenge of the Green Dragons is helmed by Andrew Lau & Andrew Loo and was inspired by Frederick Dannen’s New Yorker article chronicling Asian-American gang life in Queens, NY. It’s a reunion of sorts for Lau and Scorsese after the latter remade Lau’s Hong Kong crime pic Infernal Affairs into his own Oscar-winning 2006 film The Departed. Pic tracks immigrant siblings Sonny (Chon) and Steven (Kevin Wu) who join Chinatown’s Green Dragons in pursuit of their own American Dream, only to find themselves at odds when Sonny turns against his brother and the organization.

NBC has certainly had some problems attracting viewers. One of their biggest trouble spots has been Monday nights at 10pm. Great shows like Journeyman, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and The Black Donnellys have all tried and failed. My Own Worst Enemy hasn't done any better.
My Own Worst Enemy centers around Henry Spivey (Christian Slater), an everyday businessman with a wife (Madchen Amick) and two kids (Taylor Lautner, and Bella Thorne). Unbeknown to even himself, Henry has another identity as an operative and trained killer named Edward Albright.
In this second persona, he works for a secret spy organization under the supervision of Mavis Heller (Alfre Woodard). He's frequently partnered with Tom Grady/Raymond Carter (Mike O'Malley). Other performers include Omid Abtahi, Saffron Burrows, James Cromwell, Sarai Givaty, Mark Ivanir, Mindy Sterling, Missy Yager, Eugenia Yuan, and Louis Giambalvo.

The NBC TV show that brought Christian Slater to weekly television was cancelled after just four weeks on the air. Production shut down after nine episodes and NBC plans to air them all. One of the series' stars, Madchen Amick, is confused by the decision to cancel the show but has a theory about why it happened.
My Own Worst Enemy is an action drama follows a man (Slater) with two distinct identities -- Henry Spivey and Edward Albright. Henry, his wife (Amick), and children (Taylor Lautner, and Bella Thorne) all believe that he's a mild-mannered family man. Meanwhile, Edward is a super spy who works under supervisor Mavis Heller (Alfre Woodard) and is partnered with fellow operative Raymond Carter (Mike O'Malley). Others in the cast include Omid Abtahi, Saffron Burrows, James Cromwell, Sarai Givaty, Mark Ivanir, Mindy Sterling, Missy Yager, Eugenia Yuan, and Louis Giambalvo.

Though it was promoted ad nauseum during the coverage of the Summer Olympics, NBC could find few friends for their My Own Worst Enemy series. The TV show has been cancelled after airing just four episodes.

HONG KONG -- China-based producer Jay Rothstein said Tuesday that David Ren will direct his next project, Distance Runners.
Distance Runners, a $2.4 million co-production between Rothstein's China Venture Films and Yunnan Minority Film Studio, is the story of a Chinese ultra-marathon runner who tries to tackle a 100-mile run through the mountains of Yunnan.
"I wanted someone bilingual, experienced and who understands both cultures," Rothstein said. "I also wanted someone I felt had his heart and soul in the film. David's very passionate."
Ren, who directed Shanghai Kiss in 2007, was born in Shanghai but grew up in New York City.
For Distance Runners, Jeffrey Chu has signed on as cinematographer, with a story by Richard Trombly. (Trombly has worked as a reporter for The Hollywood Reporter.) Rothstein is working on an updated edition of the script.
Leads have not been confirmed, but Eugenia Yuan, Cheng Pei Pei and Ge You have signed on for supporting roles.
Shanghai-based Rothstein's first film, Milk and Fashion, another Sino-American co-production, will be distributed in China in June.

NEW YORK -- Director Steve Barron (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Coneheads) tries too hard with his modest indie drama Choking Man, which he also scripted.
Set in the drab environs of Jamaica, Queens, this tale of a pathologically shy Ecuadorean dishwasher is overburdened with disorienting stylistic devices and contrived plot elements that reduce the psychological depth to which it aspires.
The nearly mute Jorge (Octavio Gomez) works at a Greek diner run by the gregarious Rick (Mandy Patinkin), who offers plenty of world-weary advice along with his burgers and eggs. Jorge quickly develops an attraction for Amy (Eugenia Yuan), a young Chinese-American waitress, but is unable to act on it. Meanwhile, he's being bullied by his co-worker, Jerry (Aaron Paul), an ex-con who also has set his romantic sights on Amy.
Retreating to the isolation of his cramped room, Jorge engages in a series of disturbing exchanges with a mysterious Spanish-speaking man who increasingly encourages his underlying hostilities. We are given further insight into Jorge's thought processes via a series of animated interludes, the visual style of which is reminiscent of the Heimlich maneuver poster adoring the diner's wall.
While the teeming multicultural atmosphere of its setting is authentically captured, the film's attempt to blend urban realism and fantastical psychodrama never quite comes off. Not helping matters is the problematic central character, whose extreme reticence is conveyed so effectively that we ironically never quite come to care about his fate.
