Our collective hunger for fresh Thanksgiving Horror will hopefully be satisfied this week with the release of Eli Roth’s Thanksgiving in theaters, but what other holiday-themed horror movies can you watch to get into the spirit of Thanksgiving in the coming days?
There aren’t all that many to choose from – don’t forget the 1987 cult classic Blood Rage! – but a select few can currently be streamed on the Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox.
Here’s all the Thanksgiving Horror now streaming on Screambox…
First up, cannibalistic pilgrims dish out gory carnage in director Erick Lorinc’s low-budget indie The Last Thanksgiving, which premiered at Salem Horror Fest back in 2020.
In the retro-style slasher, which is home to a handful of particularly nasty kills, “A family of cannibalistic pilgrims attacks a restaurant that stays open for Thanksgiving.”
Meagan wrote in her review for Bd, “The Last Thanksgiving is a trashy, blood-soaked ode to ‘80s slashers,...

The tenth installment in Lionsgate’s long-running horror franchise, Saw X is playing in theaters nationwide, and Lionsgate is surely happy with the box office results over the weekend.
Saw X scared up a reported $18 million in its opening weekend here in the United States, with the new movie’s worldwide total sitting at $29,300,000 just days into its release.
That $18 million domestic number marks the franchise’s highest opening weekend since Saw 3D back in 2010, and it also matches the $18 million opening of the original Saw in 2004.
An $18 million opening weekend is a far cry from the franchise-high $33 million opening of Saw III, mind you, but it’s also the strongest the series has been in over 10 years. The decision to ditch the convoluted continuity of the later films in the franchise and instead bring back Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith with a simplified, back to basics approach was a smart one.

Now playing in theaters, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures bring Jigsaw back to the screen in Saw X, which opened in many theaters across the country for preview showings last night.

The last installment, Spiral: From the Book of Saw in 2021, grossed $750K in Thursday preview business, while Jigsaw took in $1.6 M during its previews back in 2017.
Jigsaw went on to score $16 million domestically in its opening weekend, so it seems safe to say that Saw X will likely scare up $20+ million this coming weekend.
Saw X, which is currently 84% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes (a first for the franchise), opens today at 3,262 North America theatres – the largest footprint ever for the franchise.
Internationally, Saw X will release in 50 territories this weekend including the UK,...

According to People, though, a source close to the couple has confirmed that they are not actually married.
The speculation arose after Majors and Good attended with the Congressional Black Caucus’ eighth annual Black and White Gala in Washington, D.C., which was co-hosted by Good and Larenz Tate on Saturday.
“We’re just so happy to be here with y’all tonight, celebrating us, celebrating the moves we’re making, celebrating the way we love and support each other, the way that we shift the world,” Good said, addressing the crowd. “Let’s enjoy ourselves! So many beautiful Black faces. I love us, y’all! We are so beautiful!

Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, and Gard Eidsvold star in the first film.

Based on H.P. Lovecraft‘s The Thing On The Doorstep, Joe Lynch’s (Wrong Turn 2, Mayhem, “Creepshow”) new movie Suitable Flesh world premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival to rave reviews this past June, and it’s now headed our way for the Halloween season.

Up next from Nicolas Cage is the A24 dark comedy Dream Scenario, which has released its official trailer this morning. From director Kristoffer Borgli (Sick of Myself), A24’s Dream Scenario will release in theaters on November 10, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
Of particular note, the film was produced by Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar).
In Dream Scenario…
“A hapless family man Paul Matthews (Cage) finds his life turned upside down when millions of strangers suddenly start seeing him in their dreams. But when his nighttime appearances take a nightmarish turn, Paul is forced to navigate his newfound stardom.”
The promise of a “nightmarish turn” in this one suggests it’ll be one that horror fans will want to check out. Kristoffer Borgli proved with previous movie Sick of Myself that he’s more than comfortable blending genres into uniquely singular cocktails, as the 2022 film was something of a drama-comedy-body horror hybrid.

After its Tribeca Premiere Josiah Allen and Indianna Bell’s You’ll Never Find Me has found a home at Shudder, we learned today.
“You’ll Never Find Me is a horror Trojan horse; a classic haunted house setup complete with howling winds, punishing rain, and blackouts allow for a unique exploration of ghosts,” Meagan wrote in her review. “It’s fitting for a feature that hinges on the core theme that appearances can be deceiving. While it bides its time to get there, reveling in the subtle details, extensive dialogue, and brooding mood along the way, Bell and Allen’s confident grasp on this story ensures it culminates in a finale that’ll haunt you.”
The feature debut from Allen and Bell stars Brendan Rock as an isolated man living at the back of a desolate caravan park who is visited by a desperate young woman (Jordan Cowan) seeking shelter from a violent storm.

Released in 1996, and co-directed by makeup effects artist Kevin Yagher and Joe Chappelle, fourth franchise installment Hellraiser: Bloodline served the dual role of being a prequel and a sequel, telling a centuries-spanning story that documents the puzzle box’s beginning and end. While horror fans have come to appreciate the ambitious “Pinhead in Space” movie in recent years, it’s the behind the scenes drama of the production that often takes center stage.
For starters, Kevin Yagher was replaced by Joe Chappelle before production was completed, and both filmmakers ultimately declined to have their names attached to the finished product.
That’s why Hellraiser: Bloodline is credited to the fake director “Alan Smithee.”
As Meagan Navarro explained here on Bd back in 2020, “Writer Peter Atkins and director Kevin Yagher originally envisioned a sprawling story that took place in three separate timelines, with the past, present, and future tied to a single man.

Three horror classics have just landed on the Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox streaming service, which already is celebrating a massive August that kicked off with the Ghostbusters-inspired Ghastly Brothers.
Richard Attenborough’s Magic (1978) starring Anthony Hopkins and a psychotic ventriloquist dummy is the first of three movies added to Screambox, courtesy of Shout! Factory.
“Written by William Goldman, adapted from the novel he also wrote, Magic revolves around a ventriloquist seeking to renew a relationship with his former high school sweetheart,” Meagan Navarro previously wrote about the classic. “The only problem is that his dummy is the jealous type. That ventriloquist, Corky, is played by Anthony Hopkins. Unlike most killer doll horror movies, Magic favors the psychological, and Hopkins brings intensity to this twisted love story.”
She notes that this movie served as an inspiration for Don Mancini’s original Child’s Play screenplay and is currently celebrating its 45th anniversary!

Directed by franchise star Patrick Wilson, this year’s Insidious: The Red Door is now the highest grossing film in the entire franchise, and it’s currently the highest grossing horror movie at the worldwide box office this year. To whet your appetite, Bloody Disgusting has been provided with an exclusive clip from the film’s bonus features package, which features insights from both Patrick Wilson and co-star Rose Byrne. Officially the highest grossing film in the entire Insidious franchise, the Patrick Wilson-directed Insidious: The Red Door just passed another major milestone over the weekend.
The worldwide total for Insidious: The Red Door as of this writing is $182,430,087, which makes the franchise’s fifth installment the highest grossing horror movie of 2023 to date!
The previous worldwide record holder for the horror genre this year was Universal’s big time success M3GAN, which finished its run with $180 million earlier this year.
Other horror movies this year that have come close to Insidious: The Red Door‘s record-holding amount include Scream VI ($168.9 million) and Evil Dead Rise ($146.7 million).
In just its first few days of release, Meg 2: The Trench has already gobbled up $142 million worldwide, so it’s only a matter of time before it completely smashes down The Red Door.
But for now, the new Insidious movie holds the crown.

Billed as the final film in David Gordon Green‘s sequel trilogy, Halloween Ends surely won’t be the last movie in the franchise but it’s likely to be the final time Jamie Lee Curtis returns to do battle with Michael Myers. Not surprisingly, it’s a promise that put asses in the seats over the weekend, with Halloween Ends scaring up 58.4 million worldwide thus far.
Domestically, Halloween Ends made 41.2 million in its opening weekend across 3,901 theaters. That puts Halloween Ends in the #1 spot on the domestic charts this week, and the film is likely to rocket past 100 million worldwide in these next two weeks before Halloween.
For the sake of comparison, Halloween had a domestic opening of 76 million back in 2018, while Halloween Kills opened to 49 million here in the United States just last year.
