Robin Kirk(I)
- Production Designer
- Art Director
- Costume Designer
As the lead in her high school production of 'Once Upon a Mattress',
Robin Kirk walked away from the coveted acting role. Instead, she took
the opportunity to design the 9' tall bed needed for the set. It comes
as no surprise that prior to this, all Robin wanted for Christmas was a
FisherPrice drill. Robin began her professional design career at Loyola
University. While in the process of earning her BFA in theatrical
design, she worked under Herb Sayas, a premier designer in the
industry. It wasn't long before she went to Chicago and mentored under
Rick Paul to design several years of the Chicago International Film
Festival. Robin continued to work with Mr. Paul in feature film as his
lead Art Director and Prop Master. Robin then pursued her passion to
design in Los Angeles with a fellowship at the PR/Development Division
of Disney. Making the Southland her home, Robin next accepted a
position offer as West Coast Coordinator for Popular Mechanics
magazine. At Hearst, she coordinated cross-promotional events for such
companies as Microsoft, Toyota and Nissan while still managing to
pursue her design objective as a Technical Writer for the construction
division. In 1997, Robin co-founded an in-house design firm, BinnyKid
Productions. Since then, she has used her time in the marketing
community to promote herself as an art director and a production
designer. Robin is now working in film, television, interiors, and
print as a lead designer with a current client roster including Target,
Home Depot, Princess Cruises, Nike, and New Line Cinema. Recently,
Robin let herself be talked into Production Designing two independent
features filming simultaneously. Her passion often replaces her
exhaustion, both have now wrapping principal photography.
