Meredith is a struggling mother abandoned by her family and partner after the appalling death of their newborn son. Alone in her house after separating, she becomes more and more isolated, unaware that the death of her baby has caused the birth of something far more sinister. An entity conceived from tragedy that is determined to make her relive over and over again the darkest moments of her existence and keep her family forever torn apart.
Mom is another heavy-handed look at post-partum depression wrapped up in the skin of a genre film – in this case a haunted house film. It’s something we’ve seen plenty of times before, and the filmmakers here don’t really try and stray away from cliche.

“Harvey Weinstein’s legacy will always be that he’s a convicted rapist. He is going to jail – but no amount of jail time will repair the lives he ruined, the careers he destroyed, or the damage he has caused.

It didn’t take long for the Silence Breakers to come forward and release a statement about New York Post‘s interview with the disgraced filmmaker Harvey Weinstein who made claims that he was a pioneer in making films for women and by women and express his feelings about being forgotten after 23 women came forward with accusations of sexual misconduct.
“Harvey Weinstein is trying to gaslight society again,” said the official statement from the Silence Breakers. “He says in a new interview he doesn’t want to be forgotten. Well, he won’t be. He will be remembered as a sexual predator and an unrepentant abuser who took everything and deserves nothing. He will be remembered by the collective will of countless women who stood up and said enough. We refuse to let this predator rewrite his legacy of abuse.”

A group of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged victims has issued a statement condemning remarks made by his attorney Friday night on ABC’s Nightline.
Weinstein appeared in a Manhattan court Friday for a bail hearing. Prosecutors sought to have his bail increased to $5 million from its current $1 million, arguing he violated his terms by allegedly tampering with an ankle monitor. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to allegations of rape and sexual assault. He’s scheduled for a follow-up hearing on Wednesday.
The ongoing legal battle appears to be taking a toll on Weinstein’s health. He looked haggard upon exiting the court house and had to be supported by two aides to make it into a waiting vehicle. That night, ABC’s Nightline aired a segment featuring Weinstein attorney Donna Rotunno, who maintained that anything her client did was consensual. In response, 21 women who came forward and claimed they were...

When Ursula Macfarlane's Harvey Weinstein documentary, Untouchable, hit Hulu earlier this month, it was supposed to have just begun streaming as Weinstein's trial on charges of rape and sexual assault kicked off on Sept. 9.
But just days before Untouchable's streaming debut, Weinstein's trial was delayed until early next year.
Still, Macfarlane and two of her subjects, Weinstein accusers Hope D'Amore and Erika Rosenbaum, weren't certain that the disgraced former film mogul would go to trial when they spoke with The Hollywood Reporter after Untouchable's screening at the inaugural female-focused 51Fest in New York at the end ...

The stories are legion, and they are remarkably similar. Some begin in a Buffalo, New York, concert hall in 1978; others in a five-star hotel in Venice in 1998. But it usually starts with a seemingly benign offer of help, or a friendly chat, or a meeting about the next step in someone’s career. Then maybe, suddenly, there’s only one room on a business trip because of a booking “mistake.” Or a lunch meeting mysteriously gets moved to a penthouse suite. Or an insistence that this man, a modern-day movie...

Ursula MacFarlane’s feature doc Untouchable: The Rise and Fall of Harvey Weinstein was watched by 1M viewers on its British television debut. The 90-minute film, which was original commissioned by the British public broadcaster, scored the 1M peak between 9pm and 10:30pm on Sunday night on BBC Two in the UK.
Untouchable averaged 942,000 viewers with a 5.9% share across its entirety – a respectable but not extraordinary rating for the channel. The summer of 2018 produced three documentaries that earned over $10 million at the domestic box office. While this summer didn’t get quite as close, this fall has documentary releases about rock stars, athletes and even one posthumous release from an auteur. New films by Bruce Springsteen, Agnès Varda and Asif Kapadia could help make for a busy season for non-fiction cinema, with many more potentially on the way from the fall festival circuit. Here are 10 with impending releases you need to check out.

"He thought of himself as the sheriff in town." Hulu has revealed the official trailer for the documentary titled Untouchable, which initially premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The film is a look at the rise and fall of disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, featuring interviews with former colleagues and those who accused him of sexual misconduct. It's an attempt at telling the story of the "untouchable" Harvey and how his years of sexual abuse and harassment finally caught up with him in the "#MeToo era", causing him to be ousted from his own company and (hopefully) convicted in court. The film contains testimonies from several victims, including Rosanna Arquette, Paz de la Huerta, Caitlin Dulany, and Erika Rosenbaum, as well as journalist Ronan Farrow who originally broke the big story. A major film. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Ursula Macfarlane's doc Untouchable, from Hulu's...

Hulu has secured the U.S. distribution rights for Untouchable, which chronicles the sexual abuse allegations levied against Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Hulu paid a seven-figure sum for the rights, Variety reports.
Untouchable features interviews with some of the more than 80 women who have accused Weinstein of sexual abuse, including actresses Rosanna Arquette, Paz de la Huerta, and Erika Rosenbaum. Allegations first came to public light in October 2017, although there had been reports of his behavior for decades.

There’s a reason why you’ve probably never heard of Erika Rosenbaum. An attractive, intelligent, and ostensibly talented Canadian actress who stepped off the bus in Los Angeles with nothing but a dream to her name, Rosenbaum was no less prepared or deserving than any of the legendary screen idols who had inspired her to reach for the stars. Lana Turner was famously discovered at a malt shop, so why not her? Twenty years later, Rosenbaum’s most prestigious role to date is Bartocci Customer #2 in “Brooklyn.” Before that, she was Pregnant Mom in “The Smurfs 2” and Cashier in a TV movie called “Abducted: Fugitive for Love.” But while it’s true that a prayer and a pretty smile aren’t enough to guarantee a successful career in show business, there’s reason to believe that she never had a fair shot at having one.

Had enough of Harvey Weinstein? Not just yet.
There’s not a lot of new information in “Untouchable,” a creditable documentary about the scandal that upended Hollywood and unleashed a #MeToo movement across the world, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday night.
But for those eager to hear more about this conundrum of a man – a tastemaker who made culture-defining movies for two decades but was allegedly also a monstrous, serial rapist who damaged the lives of dozens of women – this movie is for you.

The Hollywood crowd in attendance was certainly riveted. It included everyone from former Ticketmaster CEO Fred Rosen to TV legend Norman Lear and his wife Lyn Lear to former MGM CEO Chris McGurk, among others who packed the Marc Theatre.
That’s no surprise,...
