Alec Mercer, the suave behavioral scientist of the show The Irrational, is back, and he has yet another case to solve. Last time we met him, he was dating Rose while solving a case, of course. But in episode 8, we learn that Rose has gone to Paris. So our behavioral scientist is alone, and when a case pops up, he falls back on Marisa, his ex-wife, for help. The case makes him deal with his past traumas, and only Mercer can tell if he has truly dealt with them. The old church bombing case is also brought up, but it seems that it will take much more than Mercer’s efforts to solve it.

With the Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials just around the corner, all eyes were on the BBC’s annual Children In Need TV fundraiser when it was announced we’d be getting a special scene featuring the first proper look at David Tennant as the Fourteenth Doctor, alongside comedian Mawaan Rizwan.
Written by showrunner Russell T Davies, the scene promised the Doctor will uncover “an age old mystery involving one of his oldest foes”, and – as Rizwan’s uniform suggested in the preview photo – it was the Daleks.
Except, as we quickly discovered, they weren’t called the Daleks yet! Watch the clip below:
There was one particular detail in the five-minute scene which made Whovians lose their minds, as an iconic character returned:
Julian Bleach Is Back As Davros!
Bleach played Davros, creator of the Daleks, back in both 2008 and 2015, and he returned in humanoid form to witness his...

Continuing the long tradition of Doctor Who joining forces with Children in Need, David Tennant is to star in a special scene broadcast on Friday November 17 during the BBC fundraising TV event. The BBC is billing the scene as “the Fourteenth Doctor in his first adventure” ahead of three 60th anniversary specials airing on Saturday nights from November 25.
Written by showrunner Russell T Davies, the Children in Need-exclusive scene’s official synopsis promises that the Doctor will uncover “an age old mystery involving one of his oldest foes.”
Which foe that is doesn’t appear to be a mystery, as you can tell from the official image above.
It’s a Dalek. After suggesting that the Daleks had been overused on Doctor Who of late and were perhaps deserving of a little rest, Davies has whacked them right into the Fourteenth Doctor’s very first scene. Fun and games.

The fourth episode of The Irrational is out now, and it features yet another interesting case for Alec Mercer to solve. In this episode, we get to see more of Wes Banning as well, who is the only suspect the FBI has in the church bombing case. Mercer was knee-deep in responsibilities, so he delegated a few of them, like teaching his class and grading his students, to Rizwan. While Mercer solved the new case, he picked up on an interesting phenomenon of human psychology known as the “zero-sum bias,” which became pivotal in understanding the case. The show becomes Sherlock-esque in nature, becoming reluctant to depart from the overused deduction skills, but overall, the performances and fast-paced writing keep the show afloat. Here is a recap of The Irrational Episode 4.

Naqqash Khalid always wanted to make films.
An English literature graduate of Salford University in Manchester, England, who began his working life as a lecturer in the university’s School of Arts and Media, Khalid dreamed of working with actors to create films that reflect our 21st century experience of a fractured world, dominated by mobile phones and social media, where time no longer seems to follow a linear path.
His chance to make his dreams reality came when a script he wrote while still teaching at Salford was picked up by iFeatures – a BBC Film/Creative England/British Film Institute program for debut directors. A development grant in early 2020 enabled him to realize his script “In Camera,” which had its world premiere Saturday in Karlovy Vary Film Festival’s Proxima competition slot (for the Variety review see here).
