On the morning of December 27th, 2023, the world woke up to the shocking news that top star actor Lee Sun-kyun, known the world over for his performance in the Academy Award-winning “Parasite” among many other great films”, was found dead in his car, reportedly from carbon monoxide poisoning. Taglines: "An ancient man-eating monster awakens." Monstrum is an action horror film from South Korea. Originally titled Jakseoui Byeon, this title has already released on the Shudder streaming platform. Now, Monstrum will show on more home entertainment formats this November. In the film, a plague is sweeping city streets. Then, a monster comes into the weakened cities and towns. An army is formed and soon a royal court officer is tasked with destroying the creature. And, the latest trailer shows some of the creature's devastation. Rlj Entertainment will release this film, on DVD and Blu-ray, this November 17th. On this date, Monstrum will be available in an Unrated format. No special features have been announced. As well, this release runs 105 minutes and was shot in Korean, with subtitles available. Shudder has unveiled a new official Us trailer for the Korean monster movie titled Monstrum, which originally opened in South Korea in late 2018. This is finally getting a streaming release in the Us this week, for those who have been waiting to catch it. Set in the 16th century during the time of the plague, a mythical vicious creature has been rumored to be roaming Mount Inwangsan. Yoon Gyeom is a loyal subject of King Jung Jong of Joseon. He is sent to find and fight a monster that threatens King Jung Jong's life causing panic among the people. In the United Kingdom, Duncan Jones was the big winner at the British Independent Film Awards. David Bowie’s son, the erstwhile Zowie Bowie, picked up prizes including Best Debut Director and Best Film for his own space oddity Moon, the minimalist sci-fi starring Sam Rockwell. At the same ceremony Andrea Arnold’s fantastic Fish Tank won her the Best Director award and In The Loop’s writing staff got the nod for Best Screenplay.

Directed by Joon-ho Bong, Mother, South Korea’s submission for the 2010 best foreign language film Academy Awards, won the top prize at the Blue Dragon Awards ceremony held tonight in Seoul. Despite its important victory, Mother, the tale of a middle-aged mother (Kim Hye-ja) fighting to clear the name of her son (Won Bin), who has been accused of a vicious crime, failed to win many more trophies.
