Paramount scored a solid hit last year with the stylish and witty Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and the studio already has a sequel to that one bubbling away in a cauldron of ooze, scheduled to land in 2026. Yet it clearly feels there is room to also revisit the characters in live-action form, and to take the concept in a darker, grittier and altogether more violent direction, setting up an adaptation of popular Idw comics title Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin.
Turtles comic co-creator Kevin Eastman and Tom Waltz wrote the book based on an older story by Eastman and his co-creator Peter Laird, while the art came courtesy of Esau and Isaac Escorza, Ben Bishop and Eastman.

After the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, inspiring a sequel and animated series, Paramount Pictures continues to go all in on Turtle Power. THR reports that the studio is now developing a new R-rated, live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
The live-action movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, an adaptation of the bestselling Idw comic miniseries of the same name. It’ll mark the first R-rated feature film for the franchise.
The Last Ronin is “Set in a totalitarian future New York City, the comic mini-series told of how the Turtles and master Splinter are killed off one by one by the grandson of the villainous Shredder and synthetic ninjas. One Turtle manages to survive, barely, and vows to exact bloody vengeance. One trick of the book was that it wasn’t clear, for a while at least, which one of the Turtles lived as...

Paramount hasn’t even started their CinemaCon session yet and news is breaking like flies on a rib roast.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin based on the fan-fave graphic novel is in the works with Tyler Burton Smith writing and Walter Hamada producing through his 18hz production company, as part of his multi-year deal with the studio. The movie will be the first R-rated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Hopefully, there won’t be any naughty scenes involving turtles ala Fritz the Cat.
Smith recently co-wrote the upcoming Roadside Attractions R-rated action movie Boy Kills World which hits theaters on April 26.
Last Ronin was published as a miniseries between 2020 and 2022 and is set in a totalitarian future New York City as the Turtles and their master Splinter are assassinated by the grandson of their prime villain Shredder and his posse. One of the Turtles survives and swears revenge.

After the success of last year’s animated hit film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Paramount Pictures is keeping turtle power going by putting a new feature project into development.
This one, however, will go beyond the realm of the all-ages material the long-standing property is known for and instead go into gritty, R-rated, territory.
Paramount is developing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, adapting a popular storyline seen in the recent Idw comics, as a live-action feature with the intent of making it for an R-rating.
Tyler Burton Smith, who co-wrote the upcoming R-rated action movie Boy Kills World and who wrote the 2019 iteration of Chucky horror franchise Child’s Play, is penning the script.

Thanks to the wonder of the internet, you can now learn about huge San Diego Comic-Con announcements the second they happen. However, the one aspect of the con that remains tricky is landing the exclusive collectibles that have become as important to Sdcc as all the news that comes out of it.
You could very easily bankrupt yourself trying to track down all the limited-edition comics, collectibles, ephemera, and other merch that is available at the con each year on the secondary market. In fact, the demand for these things is so high that it’s hard to get what you want even if you are in attendance at the show. Fortunately, none of this expense is your concern right now. Instead, let’s take you to Comic-Cons past for an exploration of the greatest Sdcc exclusives ever. On second thought, you probably will want...

Welcome to this week’s review of Aew: Dark, which once again comes from Aew Universal in Orlando, Florida. This week’s show is another short one so let’s get right to it.
Match #1: Varsity Blonds def. Marcus Kross & Guillermo Rosas
My Thoughts: Julia Hart and Taz & Excalibur on commentary are Still selling the Malakai Black black mist incident. How long is this going to be stretched out for? It was an interesting change-up for the bright and cheery Hart but now it’s getting stale. Anyway, as for the match, it was solid if nothing remarkable. Kross looked good here – well in terms of wrestling but he had lost the Dbz hair again this week!
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: The Wingmen def. Rohit Raju, Karam, Sotheara Chhun, & Caleb Tennity
My Thoughts: This broke down early, as multi-man matches tend to do. However, once the bell...

The creators or originators of any visual iconography have no control over how others interpret, use or co-opt their designs, leading to several symbols being intrinsically tied to one thing despite initially having no connection to it whatsoever. The most prominent example is obviously the swastika, which was derived from an ancient Sanskrit word meaning ‘conducive to well-being’ and was first used as early as 3000 BC.
The point is, people can use any design for anything they want, and after the recent riots at the Capitol, it appears as though Marvel are facing some backlash in relation to the Punisher. Of course, they have absolutely no say in what Frank Castle’s signature skull logo appears on in terms of unofficial merchandise, but one image in particular has led to calls for the violent vigilante to be retired.
As you can see from the reactions below, some critics don’t...

Review Becky Lea 2 Oct 2013 - 07:36
Whitechapel' series four's horror-themed penultimate episode is perhaps its best so far. Here's Becky's review...
This review contains spoilers.
After last week's horror-themed shenanigans, Whitechapel opened its fifth episode with the team going through their very own zombie apocalypse in a hilariously over-dramatic role-playing exercise.
The zombie training served as an amusing opening, but it also demonstrated just how much the team are struggling to work with each other. No one is listening to Chandler or Miles, Buchan gets a bit too carried away and Mansell, Ripley and Kent are at each other's throats. It's a dynamic that continues through the episode as they struggle to solve a case involving missing organs and possible cannibalism. Yes, another episode not for the faint of heart.
A reverse of sorts from last week, there’s no flaying this time around, just careful surgery, gaping chest wounds and absent livers.
