There is nothing fun about watching your favorite TV show come to an end, but there are many ways to make a finale at least somewhat comforting and promising. Or, at the very least, entertaining enough that fans will remember it for a very long time.
Right now, due to the impact of the WGA and SAG AFTRA strikes on the television industry, there are many shows that are nearing their end. Whether any of them will come close to the finales on this list is questionable, but keep in mind these 10 shows that became a blueprint for wrapping up great storylines.
Lost (2004–2010)
While the finale of Lost left many questions unanswered for fans, it still felt like a solid conclusion to the show's twisted storyline. Within two and a half hours of airtime, the show revealed that what many people thought was a dream was a version of the afterlife,...

10. Jack Shephard from Lost
Sometimes, in an attempt to give a character some personality flaws, writers outdo themselves and turn an initially likable character into an obnoxious one. Lost’s Jack Shephard is a prime example: while he’s supposed to be a hero, what he really is is a frustratingly entitled manchild who just can’t quit whining for the life of him.
9. Rita Bennett from Dexter
For many people, overly dramatic characters have always been a bane of any show they were in, and we totally get it. Dexter is great, but Rita Bennett’s whiny drama queen attitude was a real killjoy for many fans, and some even claim they were glad when Rita was “finally” killed off and they could keep enjoying the show without her.

The acclaimed Hollywood star Patrick Stewart once reflected on Piers Morgan’s CNN exit after his talk show was canceled. Launched in 2011, Piers Morgan Live featured interviews with politicians, celebrities, and public figures. Despite its three-year tenure, the program struggled to resonate with American primetime audiences, leading to its cancellation in 2014 amidst dwindling viewership.

The talk show host, however, suggested that the American audience was simply not interested in a British guy discussing the polarizing issues of their country. Stewart, who took on the role of British newscaster in the sitcom Blunt Talk, shared his thoughts on Morgan’s exit and the show’s cancellation during a 2015 interview.

In the opening narration of The Big Cigar, actor André Holland, who portrays Black Panther Party co-founder Huey P. Newton in the Apple TV+ biographical drama, delivers a disclaimer about the events that will be portrayed onscreen: “The story I’m about to tell you is true, at least mostly true, at least how I remember it,” Holland says. “But it is coming through the lens of Hollywood, so let’s see how much of my story they’re really willing to show.”
The statement both echoes concerns Holland had about taking on the project and sets the tone for the element of humor that underlies the retelling of Newton’s first dealings with the Hollywood machine when bigtime producer Bert Schneider, in his zeal for social justice causes, nearly begs the revolutionary leader to help him spread his message of resistance. Durban, Sep 4 (Ians) Former fast-bowler Eric Simons has been roped in by the South Africa side as their bowling coach for the upcoming five-match Odi series against Australia and for the Men’s Odi World Cup in India.
The appointment of Simons was confirmed by South Africa’s white-ball coach Rob Walter after the hosts’ suffered a five-wicket defeat in the third T20I to Australia, leading to a 3-0 series loss.
South Africa had appointed Rory Kleinveldt to the role in an interim position previously and roped in Quinton Friend in the same position for the T20I series in Durban. “Eric has been joining us throughout the winter and will be with us for the Odi series and World Cup,” said Walter to reporters.

Durban, Sep 4 (Ians) Australia have issued a warning ahead of the Icc Men’s Cricket World Cup with a clinical 3-0 sweep over South Africa in their T20I series, here.
The five-time World Cup champions confirmed the series sweep with yet another dominant performance on Sunday as they cruised to a five-wicket victory on the back of a career-best T20I innings of 91 from opener Travis Head, reports Icc.
Head was adjudged Player of the Match after he smashed eight fours and six sixes during an entertaining 48-ball stay, as Australia chased down South Africa’s decent total of 190/8 with more than two overs remaining.
Head was last month named in Australia’s preliminary World Cup squad for this year’s 50-over showcase and the left-hander showed he could play a big part at the event with his maiden T20I half-century against the Proteas.

In “Maestro,” playing the legendary American conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein, Bradley Cooper has a light in his eye — a glow of merriment and mischief, of gleeful cosmopolitan desire. His Lenny is a prodigy, a prankster, a seducer, a monk of creative devotion and, through it all, a man of epic contradiction. In public, he tends toward the proper and stentorian; in private, he’s recklessly exuberant enough to give new — or maybe old — meaning to the word gay. He’s a layered soul, a quality that extends from his professional life, where he’s a reverent conductor of the classics and a jubilant composer of Broadway musicals (as well as a serious composer who longs to be thought of as classic), to his personal life, where he’s an ardent hedonist, unapologetically attracted to men, as well as a devoted husband and family man.

Tommy Egan is back, and it's like he never left.
It's been far too long since we've seen Chicago and been absorbed in the drug dealing, violent underworld we came to know so well many months ago. And this was a hiatus you could feel, as it felt like the first season ended so long ago.
But Power Book IV: Force Season 2 Episode 1 has finally arrived and set us up for another intoxicating season, with Tommy on a mission, lines drawn in the sand, and various titillating storylines to start the season the right way. You can tell this one is about to be special.
Jumping right into the action, the series decided against a meaningful time jump here, which was for the best, with so many storylines to branch off from after the events of Power Book IV: Force Season 1 Episode 10.
Emotions were still high, and they tapped directly...

Justified: City Primeval may not be the show some expected to find Aunjanue Ellis in this summer. But the draw in playing attorney Carolyn Wilder was not the Justified brand’s cult status. Instead, the original source material is what intrigued her most.
“I’m always interested in stories in film and television that have been adapted from books. So this was from Elmore Leonard originally [and] I’m always fascinated by characters who have novel beginnings,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Five months on from the Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. Season 2 finale, we have an answer about the show's fate.
Unfortunately, it's not good news.
TV Line reports that the medical drama reboot has been canceled and won't return for a third season.
It's unclear at this stage whether the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes governed the decision to end the show, and we'll probably never get an answer.

For a season finale, Fire Country Season 1 Episode 22 hit all the right notes in the first three-quarters of the hour but then went downhill in the last quarter.
It was action-packed, thrilling, and touched on some storylines that had been ignored for the better part of the second part of Fire Country Season 1, but in setting up a cliffhanger felt like we were back to square one.
What's so disappointing was the fact that there were a million and one ways this could have gone, yet they went that way.
But before getting to the bad, let's unpack what transpired.
It appeared that Eve had healed and moved on from past trauma because she was dating again. Or at least she tried to.

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 2 episode 8.
Misty and Walter are a dynamic detective duo with spookily similar personalities. In the fourth episode "Old Wounds," the montage (humorously set to Sparks' "Angst in My Pants") where they comb their Bed & Breakfast rooms for any suspicious activity and undergo matching nighttime routines visualizes the perfect harmony of their quirks. Not only do they enjoy solving mysteries, but they also bond over a shared love of musical theatre. Walter insists he is not using his collection of Broadway cassette tapes to appease Misty because he's a secret Yellowjackets obsessive: he is a musical theatre nerd just like her.
It turns out that Walter was telling the truth because in the recent episode "It Chooses," we see Walter relaxing with a fancy drink and a giant jigsaw puzzle while the tender "Not While I'm Around" from "Sweeney Todd" plays in the background.

Many saw it as the second coming of The X-Files – a fresh retake on a group of agents, scientists, and conspiracy theorists that investigated pseudoscientific cases that normal reasoning could not explain. Fringe was a timely update to the format Fox had perfected in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, and creators J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci, mad-scientists in their own right, arguably brought the original Gen X viewers of X-Files and a new millennial audience together. This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 2, episode 8.
We're one episode away from the second season finale of "Yellowjackets," and there are a lot of questions left to be answered. Will Walter's email to the cops finally lead to Shauna and the gang's ultimate undoing? What's the deal with the seeming network of tunnels that run beneath the wilderness compound? Are we close to learning the true identity of that damn antler lady?
As /Film's resident Lottie whisperer, my main question is this: exactly how much is Lottie in control of everything going on?
The teen mystic played by Courtney Eaton who became the adult cult wellness retreat leader portrayed by Simone Kessell has always been one of "Yellowjackets'" hardest-to-read characters. The core cast are all complex, but at the end of the day, you basically know how Misty, Taissa, Van, and Natalie are going to act in a given situation.

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 2 episode 8.
After the cliffhanger bloodbath that was last week's episode, "It Chooses" picks up with Mari and Misty holding up Lottie over a bowl so she can pee. Unfortunately, Lottie's pissing blood, likely because Shauna kicked her square in the kidneys a few times. The girls have brought her up to the attic to try and heal, but Mari's making snarky jokes and Misty has had enough of it. Mari takes the piss bowl downstairs, but drops it on the floor and starts crying. I think she's finally cracking from the severity of the situation. Through her pain, Lottie is having visions that resemble ones she'll have again as an adult. Things are getting bad for our Yellowjackets.

After the cliffhanger bloodbath that was last week's episode, "It Chooses" picks up with Mari and Misty holding up Lottie over a bowl so she can pee. Unfortunately, Lottie's pissing blood, likely because Shauna kicked her square in the kidneys a few times. [This story contains spoilers from the seventh episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Burial.”]
Sunshine Honey’s Wellness Community is opening its doors to Yellowjackets viewers.
The Showtime series launched a stunt in the seventh episode of its second season, but only a viewer with citizen detective skills at the level of Walter (Elijah Wood) and Misty could have spotted it.
In the episode, titled “Burial,” the adult main cast of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Natalie (Juliette Lewis), Misty (Christina Ricci), Taissa (Tawny Cypress) and Van (Lauren Ambrose) finally reunite onscreen after a season spent apart when they arrive at the wilderness compound run by their fellow 1996 plane crash survivor, Lottie (Simone Kessell). The prior episode ended with all of the survivors laying eyes on Lottie, as the camera panned out to reveal that the infamous symbol at the center of the show (one promoted by Lottie as her spiritual power appears to grow stronger in the wilderness) is etched out in the grounds.
